Lotus Hostel Beach Koh Tao

We definitely had bed bugs! Hung up our swimsuits in the shower and when we moved them a bunch of flies flew out! The walls were wet? And consequently all our bags and clothes got wet. Our chargers broke because of the wet walls. The neon beds were jarring to say the least- not the most relaxing atmosphere. Not a fan of the no curtains. The only redeeming feature is the bench outside to have moments out of this horrible room- and even that smelled like poo. At least it had a good location.

BEING COVERED IN BED BUG BITES! - I didn’t wrap myself up in my blanket on the last night as the temperature was not too cold. I woke up to around 100 bed bug bites clustered around my wrists, ankles, neck, breasts - it was awful. These were not mosquito bites, I also wore trousers and a thick t shirt to sleep in. I pulled the bed out after returning to the room and there were dead bed bugs behind the bed. I told the staff and showed them photos but they didn’t care. It ruined the last day of our holiday, especially as they couldn’t provide me a different bed and I had no alternative accommodation to go to - the whole resort was fully booked. From 6am I had no where to rest and my bites were so painful, I asked for a refund for my last night and management said no. After I had booked a hotel in a different area of the island, the manager said I could move to a different room but I declined given I was going elsewhere. The staff were lovely up until this point, the manager was actually quite rude and raised his voice to me when I made them aware of the bed bugs. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK AND REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

The dorm room was absolutely not cleaned at all. I stayed for 5 days (because there was no other accommodation after NYE) and the toilet had the same dirty stuff on the floor all days. The beds were hard and the worst is that it probably had bedbugs because I was eaten alive. But couldn’t really do much more than withstand because there was no other accommodations. However, the staff was understanding when I complained about be the bedbugs and they offered to look into finding a solution but there was nothing to do at the end. The staff was good but the hostel (dorm specifically) need much much care. I don’t recommend staying in the dorms.
