Generator Dublin

I did wake up with what appeared to be bed bug bites. No evidence of them on bed when I checked bedding though. This was the first night of our two week stay otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it.

Very disappointing hostel. Super overpriced. Got bed bugs here!!! Really annoying not allowing any food or drink from outside and having no place to sit. No kitchen facilities, when Dublin is already overpriced for food. The bar/restaurant downstairs provided no discount for guests. €10 euro breakfast was a rip off. The music was way too loud at the bar and had a weird vibe. An incident occurred at the ATM next door to the hostel so was not a super safe area. Would not recommend

This is a horrible hostel. I was here with my class and the bathrooms had black mold in the corners and hair in the drains!!!🤮🤢 I am never coming back. My friends had also been bit by bedbugs!

Man if only you could post pictures on the reviews, place is in a good location and looks nice as you enter but as someone else said that changes, our shower was pretty much falling apart leaking water into the walls with lots of mould showing, toilet wouldn’t flush most of the time and sinks clogged, overheard cleaning staff talking about bed bugs on one of the floors suggest going somewhere else for the money

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 3 nights over the Easter weekend (room on floor 4, a 6 bed mixed dorm). I didn't know what to expect with this hostel, having stayed in a few hostels whilst in South East Asia, I wasn't sure how a modern/commercial place would compare. This is a hostel and not a hotel but there are a few things left to be desired - (cons first) Cleanliness of the bathrooms is beyond poor, to be honest they were shocking... even by hostel standards. Bedding isn't properly cleaned - both of us got bed bug bites within the first night of our stay. My boyfriend still has small rashes because of this. Air quality in the room was horrible, there is no air-con or proper ventilation and the only window in our room didn't open as it looked out on to a corridor of the hostel. We had an issue with check-in when they didn't think we had booked breakfast but to be honest I am glad we didn't have it at the hostel in the end - it looked like a complete rip off for the price. Other small things which impacted our stay: key card stopped working 3 times, the staff at reception didn't seem to care about guests at all (and I work in hospitality on reception so understand what is expected), not being able to bring external food/drink in is not ideal if you are trying to be a 'hostel'. There are definitely some positives to this place though - Decent facilities in the rooms themselves: a sink, comfortable bed, individual lights, 2 x USB plug, 1 x regular plug, shelf, net pouch and under bed storage (take a padlock). There's hairdryers in the bathrooms but weren't working during our stay. Modern decor throughout the hostel! Right next to Jameson Distillery. Walking distance to city centre but also amazing food offerings close by: highly recommend Chopped and Fresh. Overall, I would give generator Dublin 2.5 maybe 3 stars (I wouldn't say it is as bad as some of the 1 and 2 star reviews it has received). It is an affordable hostel which facilitated a trip to Dublin which would have otherwise been extortionate.

Really disappointed about this hostel. My expectations were high because of all the reviews. I’ve been to several hostels and this is by far the worst. First, the way they process checking their guests in are not efficient. Why do we still need to fill out our infos if we put that online and they have asked for passports, so much redundancy. Second, the staff were not very helpful, I asked for recommendations about things to do around the city or recommendations for good restaurants from them as locals and all they said was, there are pamphlets on the corner help yourself. Just wow.. and on my 2nd night one lady complained that somebody was on her bed so she called a staff and the staff turned the lights on at around 12-12:30AM where all the people in the room were asleep. Third, the room and the sheets smells like a rotten fish and got bed bugs on my first night. And lastly, they put me on 2nd floor and yet the women’s bathroom is on the 1st floor?! Are you kidding me?! They couldve done something differently about the large mens bathroom on that floor. Don’t waste your money in this hostel, there are better place closer to the city center or around the area.
