   Summary: This place was a huge disappointment. Booking.com should remove it from their listings because the photos do not reflect reality. It has the potential to be a 5-star hostel if properly managed, but the current state is unacceptable. Staff and Service: The staff seem to dislike their job and show no interest in serving customers. I understand that working in hospitality can be tough—I’ve done it myself—but if you dislike dealing with people, you shouldn’t be in the industry. The staff made me feel like they were doing me a favor rather than providing a service I was paying for. For instance: • The receptionist was rude, fuming during check-in, and dismissive when I asked for assistance. • I requested a lower bed due to a health issue (frequent trips to the bathroom), but my request was ignored. Later, I saw an empty lower bed being assigned to someone else. • Simple questions, like asking for a specific beer or if the kitchen was open, were met with unhelpful, rude or curt responses. Facilities: The cleanliness and maintenance were terrible: The sleeping arrangements were disappointing. The triple bunk beds are flimsy, have no privacy (no curtains). • The washroom facilities were completely inadequate. There aren’t enough bathrooms, and the toilets are in the same space as the showers, leaving everything soaking wet. The cleanliness was shocking—dirt, clogged drains, and hair everywhere. It was flooded, stinky, and unusable. I had to use the toilet downstairs in the pub just to pee. • Basic amenities like water for showers, hand wash soap, and toilet paper were not guaranteed. Notable Incidents: • I brought my food and asked if I could use the microwave. The staff member replied with a blunt “no” and nothing more. Positive Note: The only exception was a staff member named Mark, who was friendly during my check-out. He asked for a review, but I must note that I had already received a message offering a FREE coffee in exchange for a GOOD review. Needless to say, I didn’t take the coffee. It was just one night and couldn’t take more pictures - there were no lights and I just wanted to leave as soon as I could! Advice to Future Customers: If you have a sleeping bag, staying at the train station might not be much worse. If you can afford it, spend a little more and find another place. This hostel/pub fails to deliver even the most basic level of service expected. Final Note: To the management: If you’re unhappy, don’t take it out on your customers. We all have problems, but paying customers deserve helpfulness, information, and basic cleanliness.

   Does what it says on the tin. Check in was super easy. They offered me a free hot drink for a positive review. Just be aware that other reviews may be given based on this incentive. Also, no curtains on bunk beds

   Nothing. The beds are noisy, not really comfortable. People with their smelly shoes, lights on after 22h. All I just said above plus the bathrooms were terrible. Constantly wet and dirty. They sell towels there for 7,50 pounds. Something you buy for 1 pound anywhere. A power adapter is cheaper than a towel there. Almost everyone in the room I was were sick. Sneezing and coughing all night. In the end the my offered me a coffee for a good review but… How? One good thing was the attendant in the evening shift. Very attentive and kind.

   I'm not sure what the people were smoking when writing reviews about the food here. I bought a burger that had a yummy sounding name and was sadly mistaken when I received a burger that looked like it had been microwaved. Took a while for them to make it as well. The condiments on the burger were wrong, and I can't believe they charge 12£ for something McDonald's can do better making. The fries were also disappointing, 7£ for "chips" with a small slice of cheese on top? You're better off with going to McDonald's or a gas station for sure. Wish I had taken a picture and complained when I received the food.

   Lovely staff. Great location. Even though I didn't find the mattress particularly comfortable, I had a super sleep. Not sure how that happened. You can leave your luggage with them for safe keeping. Lockers in room (being your own lock). Plug and USB for every bed. You could hear music till late (even though my room was high up). Not a deal breaker, as it was barely noticeable, but you know how it is when you hear the constant doof doof... Bathrooms are not sufficient for rush hour. One of the shower rooms had a flooded floor (not sure if it was because of the person showering or if it was leaking). You can't sit up in the bunk beds - the space doesn't allow it. No lights by the bed. I know this is a minor matter, but I don't appreciate being asked to write a positive review for a cup of coffee. I really wanted a cup of coffee, but I also wanted to write an honest review. So I didn't take the coffee.
