Very kind staff Unclean and bedbugs

1) Its very good location - right on Kneva Mihailova Street 2) Very quiet - no noisy dorms. It has 1, 2, or 3 person rooms 3) The receptionist Radomir was very helpful, considerate, and kind. He's the real reason why the hostel is even worth our stay. 1) The hostel doesn't allow cooking. It only allows heating food - you can use the microwave, but only for heating. 2) There are no stove or gas burners, so again, no cooking, therefore, it doesn't have a real kitchen, just a place to prepare your non-cooking meals. 3) There are no indoor tables, just counter-tops. If you need a table to eat, go up the narrow spiral staircase and out into the terrace or balcony - there are a couple of tables there. While I was there I was unable to do that because it was raining. 4) You need to climb one flight of stairs (4th to 5th floors) to get to the hostel entrance, and then a narrow spiral stairs to the terrace. If you don't like small cramped spaces or steps, this place is not for you. 5) The owner comes in only in the mornings; at other times Radomir will be there. Radomir gave me his personal number, and he readily answered my queries (e.g. how to take a bus). I asked the owner the same question before that, but he was unable to help me. He didn't bother to check it up either, unlike Radomir, who got back to me on the matter. 6) There were bed bugs in our beds, and my wife and I got bitten the first night we were there, my wife much worse than I. Radomir was apologetic and readily changed our rooms when I requested him to. The owner however claimed that we had brought the bugs into his establishment. No apology was given, and no concept of customer service was shown. We had been in 6 countries before coming to Serbia and it's unlikely we brought those bugs into the hostel, or else we would have been bitten long ago. Whatever the case, Radomir expertly handled the situation, unlike the owner who needs a lesson from his employee in human relations and business & common sense (there's a good reason why the bugs are called 'bed' bugs).
