Flore Hostel

Clean modern hostel. Not very social, but I didn’t feel weary about bed bugs. Staff went above and beyond to be accommodating and pack our breakfast last minute. Thanks!

I originally wrote a review on Hostelworld, but I did not appreciate the inaccuracies in the property’s public response, so I want to clarify my experience here. My clothes were returned from the laundry still smelling unpleasant, as if they had not been properly cleaned. The laundry was also given back to me the day before I was leaving, so there was no realistic opportunity to have it sent again. I did not refuse this option. The timing simply did not allow for it. During my stay, cash was taken from my locked locker. I am certain the locker was locked. During my stay, I also spoke with another guest in the same room whose watch was stolen. While I understand hostel policies regarding liability, the lack of empathy from staff was disappointing. As for the bed bugs, I understand that any hostel can encounter this issue at any time. Whether this was part of a regular fumigation or something else, I cannot confirm or deny. Overall, I simply wish the hostel had shown a bit more compassion while I was having a very difficult experience during my stay.

I was really disappointed with my stay. All of my cash was stolen from my locker, and when I went to reception, I was told nothing could be done, which made me feel very unsafe. I also used the laundry service after hiking Acatenango, and my clothes came back still smelling of sweat. I was told I wasn’t the first to complain and I also couldn’t get my money back for the laundry, so I don’t recommend using it. A friend staying in another room also experienced bed bugs.
