Flashpackers Hervey Bay

Unfortunately, after spending the night in the hostel, we had thousands of bed bug bites all over our bodies. After our stay, we read on the website that we were not the only ones. There have been several cases. Breakfast is usually served until 10:00 a.m. We were there at 9:30 a.m. and everything was empty and had not been refilled. Accordingly, I cannot recommend the hostel. We had to get medication for the bed bug bites.

The WORST place I have EVER stayed!! We found 4 bed bugs one morning in our bed and let the girl on reception know to deep clean our room, she obliged but wasn’t surprised or apologetic. We went out for the day and came back in the evening to clean sheets, yet still found HUNDREDS of bed bugs in the gaps of the bed-frame, it was horrifying. Told a 2nd receptionist, he didn’t seem surprised either. Refunded us for our last night and we had to book elsewhere at 8pm! Not one apology received at all

First and foremost: WE HAD BEDBUGS! And the manager tried to gaslight us into believing it’s a normal bug, only to tell another employee the next day that she found a bed bug (I found the bed bug! And she let someone sleep in the bed knowingly it had bed bugs!). The rooms itself are okay, the lockers are very small. The kitchen is the worst kitchen I have been so far, incredible dirty and unorganized. The manager was not particularly nice but the girl working the reception was very nice.

It was an absolutely lovely stay with lovely people and a very kind and open reception. We’ve had one bed with bed bugs but despite that everything was very clean. :) It’s very close to the beach - the only thing is, that you’ll have to walk for at least 25 mins to get to the next bigger supermarket. For people who travel via Greyhound they offer a pick up and drop off but only for the afternoon and evening. The every-night (i.g.ice cream/ wine and cheese) specials and free breakfast were great!
