Bedbugs in bed! Some bloke high on drugs - walking around premises, swearing!

Building somewhat run down but lots of charm. Kitchen, lounge with TV, spacious balcony. No bedbugs in room 16, but gets hot (top floor) so window must be open and this means mosquitos at night. Location good, but this is a very noisy strip. Will not quiet down ubtil 4 am. Toilet paper disappears in a few hours. If you don't mind those things, a good place to stay. Otherwise, avoid.

With a heavy heart, I have to give Urban Hive a bad review due to bedbugs. I've stayed here many times over the years and always enjoyed it, but this time was different. Upon arrival, the reception was warm and welcoming as usual. However, in the morning, I woke up covered in bites and even found a bedbug in my room. When I reported this to the gentleman at reception, he wasn’t surprised and seemed to imply they were already aware of the issue. Adding to the disappointment, Long Street has sadly deteriorated. The area feels unsafe, with groups of people openly doing drugs and shady characters loitering throughout the night. The street reeks of urine, and the once-vibrant atmosphere has turned into something unsettling. Watching from my room, I saw a group of homeless individuals using drugs in the dark, making the entire experience incredibly uncomfortable.

The beds could also have been better, i slept on a broken bed and nothing was done about it after few reports, i ended up with back pain, Also, knowing the furniture are made of woods, they are prone to insects, bedbugs are the order of the day and night there, some roommates are used to it, while’s others refused to complain to the staffs and rather lodged out to other backpacking companies, the company should do well with frequently spraying the place against bugs because people from different places visit and stat, some will bring, while others carry. There are smoking area, but all the balconies were full of smokers and there was no place to relax without a smoker/smokers polluting the environment.

APPALLING ESTABLISHMENT! Dirty, Decrepit and Dingy. Full of long term guests who either work in the area or on Long Street itself. No vibe whatsoever. Music on until 2am! Bed bugs everywhere. When you walk on the floors it sounds like there’s an incoming earthquake. I landed up leaving around midnight. TRULY THE MOST DISGUSTING HOSTEL I have ever been too! Clean up your act Urban Hive!

Where do I start? First of all it's on the busiest streets in town, the noise only goes down at 4am. The racial undertone was just sobering - the dirty wooden floors that were busy getting sanded till 21:00 at night, also whenever someone walks you will definitely hear every footstep, the bed bugs I don't even want to get started I'm still itchy. The place is dirty... Whenever someone turns on the tap you can hear the pipes screaming, you have to get out through the window to access the balcony, you must have cash to buy snacks or alcohol there. I'm so disappointed - only stayed there because the other places were fully booked.

I don’t like that they have to mix males and females. And also their bedding needs to be washed regularly because I got bed bugs over my whole body and I cannot stop scratching myself!

I planned to stay for three nights in this hostel but ended up leaving right after my first night. I got there late at night and the staff was lovely and very helpful. Unfortunately though I had to change rooms two times because 2 out of 3 Rooms had BEDBUGS. Third one might have had some too, can't say for sure but I had bites around my Neck and Shoulder the next morning. The Staff didn't seem too surprised when I told them about the Bedbugs to be fully honest. Still they offered me a new room both times I found the bugs and also cancelled my booking & decided to not make me pay for the night. I really hope they are doing something against the bugs. Anyhow I would definitely not stay again! Also it's very noisy, so nothing for light sleepers and the Toilets and Showers aren't really nice.

The worst visit to a hostel I have ever had. The Unique Selling Proposition is a clean bed, not one full of bed bugs and dirt from the previous tenant. For health, avoid this place.

This place has bed bugs, unfortunately I figured it out to late, and the traveled home with me. Now my home is also infested.
