Location and price are strong draws - the showers, however, are not secure. There is a pitiful and semi-see-through frosted glass separating the single men and single woman's shower... Which, in addition to being revealing to one's also naked neighbour a mere foot away, is also easy to peep over and lacks a alarm string that is common among hostels for this very reason. When I suggested this as a potential, seemingly obvious, issue, the front desk day worker was dismissive. I stayed in a women's only room which was a good call, yet the shower room is not separate...? No bed bugs from my experience. Rooftop nice. No kitchen, cutlery, or activities.

some people says that this hostel got bedbugs, luckily I did not experienced such kind of things but you can find mosquito. Overall it was a good experience.

Staff are nice and helpful, standard hostel experience and well located, but bed bugs galore. Left after the first night, they did give me a refund for the other 3 nights I had and were polite about everything so I respect that. I have never had my skin react to being in a bed like that, I could barely sleep due to a rash from the sheets and the woolen, itchy and dirty blanket. My hair was itchy the next day and I had bites all over me. Not worth the risk I'd say, there's much nicer hostels a bit further from the centre at the same price.

THE HOSTEL HAS BEDBUGS AVOID! I stayed there just for one night on a private room (14) and I got rash all over my body and one other girl that stayed in the dorms got the same in her hands. It’s very dirty and it gives PRISON vibes! dirty and so depressing !!!! Don’t go there unless you are in the mood to deal with bedbugs later!!

At least we got half our money back after leaving because of the bedbugs, very negative energy from the staff!

for a hostel i think its alright, many reviews say, that there are bedbugs, i luckily didnt experience any bedbugs in room 20 and room 13 but some of my friends said that they saw bedbugs. there is a nice rooftop area, but orher than that there are no places to sit. the staff at the reception was always VERY helpful and friendly, the cleaning staff told me at one point to not comeback. the showers and toilets werd quite clean and the location is amazing.

Don’t recommend it. The toilets are ALWAYS DIRTY and people can see you from the other side when you have a shower so they see you naked. The beds are so old and after a couple days you get itchy from how dirty the blankets are. Very likely there sre bed bugs. There is no kitchen nor living room. There is a terrace but noone told me until i found out for myself. They say you can use the lockers but everytime you open the locker its 2euro. Very bad experience overall except the people i met and where its located.

Absolute dive. Bitten all over by bed bugs and the staff have all got bad attitudes. Maybe the staff think they're doing you a favour by letting you stay there. Avoid.

A complete nightmare. It is full of bed bugs. Don't cover yourself with the blankets.

Horrible experience!!! There is a bed bug infestation in this place, I have bites all over my body, including my face. I tried to cancel and request a refund right after the first night, but at the reception they said I had to wait for a response on the platform and there was NEVER a response. RUN AWAY!!!

Arrived 1am with my girlfriend to a bed that was clearly slept in and dirty, recepionist was unhelpful: refused to make bed, blamed the guy who just stayed telling me to sleep in the bed incase he came back and got in - his shoes were there and he still had the 🔑 for the room?? After pealing back the dirty sheet we found a stained and dirty mattress that, like the rest of the room, clearly hadn't been cleaned in the last 15 years, WE GOT BEDBUGS🪲🪲. One toilet/ shower for each sex on the floor

I found that the front desk was very helpful and accomadating. I like the location of the hostel. However, the hostel has become much dirtier since I last been there about 5 years ago. Also, I had alot of bumps on my skin when I woke up. The window was open so I thought it was mosquitos but then I noticed the bumps were in clusters so now I think it was bed bugs!!!!!

Unfortunately there are bed bugs in this hostel. Also some smaller stuff, like the toilet door wasn’t closing. Otherwise okay place. But they should do something about the bed bug problem. Staff clearly knew about it already.

There are more bedbugs than guests in this hostel. If you want to scratch your whole body for 2 weeks you should definitely go there !

Ironically, in the very land that derived Athena Hygieia, there seems to be a lack of hygiene. My bed was infested with a colony of bed bugs. Upon returning from my holiday in Athens, I discovered over 30 bites on my neck, arms, and shoulders. To my knowledge, at least two other dorm mates also experienced the same bed bug issue during my four-day long stay. On my final day in Athens, I was shocked to find a bug crawling out from my underwear and onto my leg. I also spotted another one making its way across my backpack at the airport. After returning home, I have washed all of my belongings and dried them for 2 hours. Hopefully, I haven't brought back any unwanted souvenirs from Greece. However, it might not be too bad, considering these are the same bed bugs that used to trouble ancient Greeks, including Aristotle. A complete ancient Greek experience here!

BED BUGS. I stayed here for 5 nights (25-30th July) and didn’t realize until the last day I had been bitten by bed bugs. Not sure if the problem is being addressed - other reviews suggest the owners don’t care. Watch out

They have bedbugs, staff is friendly only yeah bedbugs problem. They moved us to another room, which also had bedbugs. Building is really pretty, nice colourful painted walls and cute cartoon drawings. So place has a lot of potential only atm there is a bedbug problem…

STAY AWAY from here, they have BEDBUGS! I saw some typical bug stains and didn't have to look long to find the first ones in the ground bed. They were hiding in a corner. I almost threw up, DISGUSTING. I grabbed my suitcase and left immediately. The guy downstairs just responded, that there were no bugs and offered another room. What a joke. Either delusional or doesn't care, or both. And no refund. If I had bugs, I would freak out and immediately go to the room. Obviously they do not care. They know about that problem and ignore it. His excuse was, that there were many people here, so what do I expect. This is a pisstake. No care for anything. Neither for the rooms and even less for the poor people getting bit and their luggage infested with bugs, which they will carry home afterwards.

I found a bedbug infestation, and when I confronted the manager he didn't even seem surprised, and said that if I wanted a refund I would have to leave immediately (it was midnight, too late to find another hostel). He was extremely rude and almost threatened me to kick me out if I kept complaining. The place was disgusting, with dirty bathrooms and a kitchen covered in sticky stuff. Located in a very dangerous area of Athens it is not safe to walk to after sunset. You have to pay even to lock your luggage. The showers and toilets had glass walls open to the corridor, leaving no privacy at all. I know it's very cheap, but I would not stay here again even if they paid me.

EEN HORROR Hostel! echt een verschrikkelijke ervaring.. had met mijn vriendin een privekamer, maar veel last gehad van bed bugs. Mijn vriendin kreeg er zelfs allergische reacties van. Het was onze laatste avond van onze vakantie, maar het was regelrecht een nachtmerrie. We kregen de optie om in een dorne te slapen op aparte bedden als oplossing.. het echt schoonmaken van de matrassen leek geen optie. Echt schandalig, horror hostel

BEDBUGS! Don’t go

I slept there two nights and brought bedbugs with me at home… now I have to spend hundreds of euros to get rid of them …. As far as I got from other recent comments others have been bitten by them … I can hardly believe the management don’t know

It was the worst hostel experience I had in my life. There’s no hostel vibe, it’s dirty and the beds are very loud and uncomfortable. A friend had bed bugs.

Pros: great location, good wifi Cons: two out of three of our group are covered in bed bug bites, someone stole our food from the fridge, no toilet paper or soap in the bathroom, weird set up of leaving keys at the front desk every time you go out, people staying up being noisy until all hours of the morning (4am) on multiple nights of our stay

Bed Bugs. My bed was full of bed bugs. Totally not acceptable. The kitchen area, is not a properly working kitchen. Also the kitchen was SO dirty. The shower, had a wide gap in the door, so anyone waking by can see right inside the shower. This was the WORST hostel experience of my life.

THEY HAVE BEDBUGS!!! Really quiet, no atmosphere. Sweet staff though.
