WOT Ericeira Surf Social

My stay was not pleasant from start to finish. If you are looking for a blend of calm and social place, this is not it. The common areas are large but dirty - especially the kitchen : so much food is stored in the fridges, which make them stink. Most of the cutlery is in bad condition and most of the time the kitchen has an overall bad look. Tried to cook twice there but it was a bit overwhelming. I have read some comments about the unwelcoming staff and that is unfortunately true. It looks like they are all enjoying their vacation and know almost nothing about the area or are bored with questions you might raise about the place. What struck me the most was the fact that no one told me at the reception that, for surf lessons, I had to be 30 minutes early at a beach to be picked up? Even though I paid for this class ? Shows how much the staff does not care about the people staying in here. Additionally, the place is just very noisy as a whole - I could hear noice from common spaces until late during the night (people were not cautious to not scream past 10pm and no one told them to be more quiet…). People were not respecting the rules for noice and lights in the dorm either : some girls just let its lights on until at least 1am while I was trying to sleep next to this bed, and others were packing very late at night without caring for others sleeping. It was common to hear discussions between girls in the dorm at 11pm… Finally, the condition in the dorms is very very poor (wondered at some point if bed bugs were in the place… hope I’m wrong). The dorm smelled, people let their stuff invading shared space (bathroom and the sinks), and I only saw someone cleaning once (!!!), and it was very very light unfortunately. Was so disgusted by the place that I ended up changing location. I do not recommend as there are better options elsewhere at a better price!

The higiene was not good, especially in the dorms. There were bedbugs in my bed. Switched to another bedroom and the problem of bedbugs remained. Already reported the situation but I think it is important to report this situation in all the possible ways. Also, since we are in Portugal, please make sure that all workers speak Portuguese. I am Portuguese and in some moments was forced to speak in a foreign language in my own country

Infelizmente terei de deixar esta reclamação. Reservei duas noites neste hostel e no momento de ir dormir apercebo-me da presença de (aparentes) “percevejos-de-cama” (bed bugs) no meu colchão e almofada. Ao reportar a situação na recepção, transitei para outro quarto, onde o problema persistiu. Reporto esta situação, por considerar que se trata de um problema de Saúde Pública grave. Paralelamente a isto, acho importante que preparem de forma mais adequada a pessoa que deixam ficar responsável durante cada turno, de forma a estar apta para qualquer situação que surja. Por tal não ter acontecido, a pessoa que estava a trabalhar no turno da noite no momento em que isto aconteceu não tinha permissão/possibilidade de me resolver a situação, o que me obrigou a fazer uma viagem longa para casa de carro por volta das 4h da manhã.

Una estrella, porque no se puede poner menos. Miseria y mierda a raudales. Las fotos que anuncian no tienen nada que ver con la realidad Llegaron los 50 niños y no había habitaciones para todos "genial" Las habitaciones sin limpiar, pelos en las camas, mugre en los baños. (Y lo que no es mugre). Más mierda que el palo de un gallinero. Cleenex usados en los armarios, chanclas debajo de los muebles. Cucarachas por los pasillos y chinches en las camas. Hemos tenido que sacar un viaje de 50 personas a otro hotel. VERGÜENZA ES POCO. SUERTE QUE ESTÁIS A 600KM SINVERGÜENZAS. Hay mejores muebles en los vertederos. Y no voy a seguir por que me caliento.

The entire experience from start to finish was underwhelming. When we tried to check in, the guy at the front desk, who seemed incredibly lazy, told us to come back in an hour, despite it already being 4 p.m., the designated check-in time. The breakfast situation is almost laughable. Sure, they offer bread, but that's about it. If you're lucky, you might find some oats or, occasionally, yogurt. Other than that, you can snack on pumpkin seeds. This hostel may have been a cool spot years ago, but now everything is run-down. Nothing is maintained. The ping-pong table was broken, and the rackets were just bare wood, with no covers. The same goes for the pool table and its equipment. The rooms were dirty, and no one attempted to clean them during the entire week we stayed. We also noticed that some guests had to leave due to bed bugs, and while they were refunded, that was all—no apologies, no vouchers, nothing. The advertised activities, like pub crawls and beer pong, didn't happen because the staff simply didn't care. To top it off, when you buy a beer, you're charged an extra euro for a plastic cup. When we checked out, we asked if we could store our luggage at the hostel since we were leaving in the afternoon. We were told we'd have to pay for that too. Overall, the hostel has no soul, no care, and no attention to detail. There’s no proper breakfast, despite what they advertise, and most of the facilities in the common area are either broken or dirty. We tried speaking to the manager, but all he gave us were excuses, like claiming they were having issues with their food supplier. Seriously? Just go to the supermarket and buy some oats—how hard can that be? They also tried to tell me that they had ordered a new ping-pong table, but people I met who stayed here two years ago said it’s been the same story since then.
