Worst hostel I’ve stayed in in South America, horrible staff, beds and facilities. All the reviews are fake just to get a free drink. Stay at los Patios for the love of god.

free drink ticket if I left them a good review
Staff was preoccupied, crowd was aloof, and the wifi doesn’t work above the first floor. It says towels not included but for a mold-smelling room of 6 with one shower there are better, cheaper hostels in the area (Los Patios). On checkout they offered me a free drink ticket if I left them a good review and showed them. Keep that in mind reading these reviews.

overall, i enjoyed my stay here. the staff is friendly and the private room i stayed in was very clean, albeit on the smaller side for the price… please note that while there is wifi, it is not very good at all. enjoyed the location of the hostel. they have plenty of activities if you want to be social. it is a party hostel and the rooftop is loud til 12am but they give you earplugs. just be prepared. i didn’t find my type of people here but maybe you will! 🤣 left here and went to the masaya which has better amenities. lastly, please note that they do ask you to leave a review at check out. they did not ask me to leave a positive review in exchange for incentive, but the staff member did ask me to mention her name in my review “if i wanted to.” just something to be aware of! unsure if i would stay again strictly because of the vibe/people.

Be careful at the rooftop bar — they’ll serve the most expensive alcohol (tequila/vodka) without asking just to charge more. Review the prices before paying.

pay £50 per night for a 5 star
Why pay £50 per night for a 5 star hotel when you can pay £54 to stay in a concrete prison cell. Staffed by people who clearly don't want to be there. No care or service. Go and stay somewhere luxury for half the price!

- The private studio room is really impressive and definitely worth your money. It’s beautiful, spacious and very clean. - The special Comuna 13 tour on Sunday was really interesting. It was filled with great activities and the local tour guide was honestly a blast! - Their online communication through Booking is fantastic. They are super nice, reply within hours and are always eager to help you out. - I have never in my life given any ho(s)tel, restaurant, cafe or whatsoever a ‘low’ rating (I have never even rated a place lower than 8/10 on Booking), but this place really has to fix the attitude of their staff. Apart from the lovely lady who checked me in and 1 chill guy who helped me with my laundry, every single other person who works here really doesn’t want to be here. They’re on their phones 24/7 while there are multiple people waiting at the counter, they contradict each other constantly, they don’t really want to provide you with any information during your stay and just point at QR codes when you ask them about activities, and they beg for good reviews and tips without actually helping you with anything. - The dorms are quite dirty and old compared to other hostels in Medellin. It’s also quite musty and humid due to the fact that they have no AC and Medellin’s climate is always around 25 degrees Celsius. - The door to the luggage room is always open and all of the hostel guests (and frankly anyone who just walks into the hostel) can enter the room and take your luggage whenever they want. Perhaps it’s just me, but you’d expect a hostel in Medellin to have a little bit more security. - Apart from the issues with the staff, just keep in mind that this is a party hostel and not a very social one. I met two really great British girls who I shared my dorm room with, and I had convinced some people that I met during my travels across Panama to book Viajero as well (PS: the Viajero in Salento is simply AMAZING), however all of us had a difficult time actually connecting with others at the hostel, which was a massive change in atmosphere and vibe compared to all other hostels we stayed at during our travels.

Stayed at female Dorm of 8, the toilet door is jam, the shower door cannot be shut. The door of the room is also jam somewhat. I saw cockroach in the bath room every night. Upon check out the stuff asked me to check my email, it turned out 2b she wanted me 2 do review right the way! (She even tried to review it for me!!) So this is how they got 10/10!! 🤪

Analisi dell'atmosfera
Il tetto è il motore principale del Viajero Medellin Hostel: musica, bevande, eventi, bar crawls e vasche idromassaggio rendono facile collegarsi al lato party di El Poblado. L'ostello si trova in una zona forte per ristoranti e vita notturna, con la metropolitana raggiungibile a piedi se non vi dispiace una passeggiata più trafficata. Questo e' un albergo grande e lucido con una scala simile a un hotel. Ci sono tour organizzati, una zona ricreativa al seminterrato con ping pong, accesso alla cucina condivisa, armadietti o deposito chiudibile e installazioni del dormitorio che possono includere tende di privacy, tappe e ventilatori. La cosa migliore e' un viaggio sociale costruito intorno all'energia sul tetto, visite della citta' e notti tardive. Il compromesso è che può sembrare più commerciale che accogliente. La vita sociale si inclina molto verso l'alcol e i piani sul tetto, mentre il luogo di ritrovo di giorno può sembrare meno naturale. Le camere private potrebbero non sembrare molto convenienti, specialmente se sono piccole, calde, rumorose o se mancano semplici comfort.
Segnali da controllare
- Il rumore può essere intenso dal tetto, dalla strada, dal fiume, dai corridoi e dalla vita notturna nelle vicinanze, quindi non è una scelta da fare prima di dormire.
- Alcune stanze non hanno aria condizionata, una scarsa connessione Wi-Fi, ventilatori rumorosi, muri sottili, letti duri o semplici strutture di camera privata.
- I prezzi possono sembrare alti, con costi aggiuntivi per asciugamani, bevande, visite, giochi, acqua, cibo e altri beni di base.
- Il servizio può essere irregolare e il check-in può essere lento o pesante.
- Può essere inconformista la pulizia e la manutenzione, compresi i problemi con i bagni, le lenzuola, le vasche idromassaggio, gli attrezzi da cucina e la manutenzione della stanza.
- La sicurezza e la gestione dei problemi possono sembrare troppo libere per oggetti di valore, stoccaggio di cibo, bagagli o gravi incidenti.
