   Was catching a tour bus out front. Google asked me to review this, so I was like ok. It's for Google rewards so I may as well. I think they're going to give me a quarter or something for typing this. It seemed to be a good deal. I wonder if I write more if I get more money. Cha ching!

   Great location right opposite light rail. However would not stay here again. Nice cafe in hostel. - Cleaners talking outside room early every morning, very frustrating - Both times I have stayed I have booked via booking.com and already paid for it when booked and then when I arrive at the hostel they change me again. This happened on both occasions and is extremely frustrating because then the refund doesnt come into your account for a few days. No real apology given. - Shared bathroom was not very clean at all - You have to pay to store you bags once you have checked out and there isn’t many lockers. - Cafe next door nice, lovely staff however noticed lots of flies inside the cabinet where the pastries were so that put us off eating them - very poor WiFi in hostel.

   Misleading Front Desk Experience – Refund Denied After Verbal Confirmation I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at YHA Sydney Central was deeply disappointing and left me feeling deceived. I booked a 4-night stay (June 13–17, 2025) via Agoda and checked into a 6-bed dorm. Due to a change in plans, I approached the front desk shortly after midnight on June 14 to cancel the remaining 3 nights. The receptionist, Camila, smiled and clearly told me that it was okay — the cancellation would be processed and I would get a partial refund through Agoda. Encouraged by her response, I contacted Agoda right away to proceed. However, when Agoda tried to confirm the arrangement, the same receptionist denied everything, simply saying “I wrong” with a smile and walked away. I was shocked — I felt misled and powerless. In the end, I paid CNY ¥780.22 (~AUD $165) for just one night, in an outdated dorm room with noticeable odor and minimal comfort. The rest was completely wasted due to a verbal promise broken with no accountability. I urge management to review this staff conduct seriously. A hostel should not smile at your face and then turn its back once you’re gone. Travelers — be cautious, and don’t rely on any verbal confirmation from the staff. Get everything in writing. This experience has damaged my trust in both the hostel and Agoda as a booking platform.

   Honestly I stay at hostels all the time and 9/10 times no issues. Me and a relative have stayed here a few times. This time not much to like about the 3.5 hrs I think I managed to sleep. Probably the lowest review of my whole 20 years reviewing hostels. Oh dear what a night! Going to warn you about this one as it’s a regular guest. If it happens to you please go tell reception because the person appears to be oblivious to how much they disturb people despite it being made obvious to them. I walked in at 11.30pm having got ready in the bathroom so as not to disturb people and asked if the main light could be turned off soon. ‘Yes yes I just arrived’. 12am it’s still on there’s still a heap of rustling of plastic. Finally we get it turned off at 12.20am. Little did we know lady has her alarm set for 3.45am so in her mind it’s totally acceptable to take 45 min to rustle herself into bed past midnight while knowing she’s about to wake everyone up again in the middle of the night. Alarm goes off. Minutes later it’s still going off. We’re probably all awake and no one’s turning off the alarm. Finally I get up and try and find where it’s coming from and have to wake her up to get her to turn off her own alarm. It’s 3.45am. Then she falls asleep again and snores super loudly for some time. Then she gets up, rustles around then turns the main light on. Lady hasn’t heard of iPhone flashlight and I presume is regularly inflicting this on everyone because she goes out and comes back 1hr later, turns the main light on again rustles round before finally leaving. Each time I’m saying hey it’s 4.30, hey it’s 12 midnight, hey it’s 5.30am please keep the light off. She’s always got an excuse. Can’t read any cues I guess. Anyway, if you end up with a short lady in her 40s 50s with her hair in a tight bun who wears pink PJs and black workwear you’re in for a night of disturbance and she doesn’t get it. Go to reception and get them to change your room right at the start. Hostel is going to be motivated to keep regular guests due to the money so main way to hit them where it hurts is via reviews. I can say they’ve noted this but had ‘no previous complaints’. People probably assume it will be useless?

    交誼廳有充電坐位！手機整個沒電了，救了我，非常感謝！！還有飲水機可以裝水，很棒！不過房間上鋪，樓梯太細了，踩得腳有點痛
