Two words: bed bugs. Avoid at all costs!!! I got bit terribly and had a severe allergic reaction.

I stayed at Popcorn Hostel in Bucharest for two nights and had one of the worst experiences of my life. I am allergic to bed bugs and have unfortunately encountered them before, so I know exactly how their bites look and how my body reacts. Within hours of lying down the first night, I was being bitten relentlessly, even after covering my whole body with the blanket, in spite of the heat in the room. By the morning, my face was swollen, and I had clusters of at least a hundred bites all over my body. I had to call an ambulance. When the sheets and mattress were lifted, a bed bug was found right there. I immediately packed all my belongings into sealed bags (to avoid contamination elsewhere) and had to continue the rest of my trip without access to my own clothes, which was both distressing and expensive. Despite witnessing the situation, the hostel staff tried to deny it, claiming it was “mosquito bites” and that I hadn’t checked the windows. That is simply false. My reaction is unmistakable (I only react this way to bed bugs, never mosquitoes) and the difference in the bite pattern is obvious. Their refusal to acknowledge the infestation, while simultaneously gaslighting me, made the experience even worse. This was without a doubt the most horrific night I have ever had in any accommodation. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this hostel. Need to clean properly. I am not the first one who found bedbugs. When I found bedbugs and told the staff, he looked very apologetic and changed my room, so I didn’t get angry. However, he did not do anything to the other people who were sleeping in the same room. Did they clean and disinfect the next day? That’s something I’m really curious about—I hope you check it yourselves. As for the bathrooms and dormitories, it’s hard to say they are clean.

Sugging mattress Bed linen was clean but pilled, worn-out, somehow not fresh I had terrible rush/bite marks after sleeping there - probably bed bugs.

Meet some cool people here, but it was not verry clean and there were bedbugs everywhere.

!!!! DON’T GO THERE BED BUG !!!!! I was staying for 2 nights (normally) but after the first night I recognised bed bug on my bed and after a check on all the bed of the room. The During this night I heard a glass bottle fight in the commun area to be honest I was a little bit scared. Also no reception it was complicated to enter in the building, the neighbourhood is not safe, even the bolt driver was very surprise to find us in this "very not safe area". Only good point the AC was great

ATTENTION! BEDBUGS! I had never experienced or seen bedbugs, so when I noticed the first bites, I thought they were mosquitoes or other similar insects and didn't pay much attention. However, as the number of bites increased and they were in a row on my arms and legs, I thought they might be bedbugs or something like that. When I checked it, I realized that it was, but I checked it after I left the hostel, unfortunately, so I couldn't inform the staff. To be honest, it was not so much surprising - the black or navy blue sheets that had already been made looked used, and the white sheets did not smell fresh. The garbage was taken out of the room every day, but on the first morning the girl who did it came in without knocking. The shower was quite dirty, some sockets and the door handle were taped over. The chairs looked strange, there were 2 holes in the table. You can't lock the door with a key. The condition of the room did not match the photo. Maybe it looked better once, but not now. Besides, the man who had to paint the windowsill came in the room as if it was his home and started doing his job. The walls were really thin, and I could hear people talking outside the window, in the corridor, on the ground floor, and in other rooms. My room was next to the shower and toilet, so I also heard everything that came from there. The light in the room was awful - you couldn't do such things as reading when the evenings came, and it wasn't comfortable even without reading, though. If you stay for 1-2 nights, then maybe it won't be a big deal, but if you need to stay there for 4-5 days or more, like me, then think twice. The friendly staff and location near the train station are not worth the discomfort afterwards. I'd stayed in only one hostel before, so I don't really have much experience in stuff like that.
