Big Mountain Hostel is a central Huaraz base with a strong focus on hanging out and planning treks. The common spaces are large, and the place includes a climbing wall, pool table, ping pong, table football, a chess room, and a rooftop terrace. There is also a tour desk downstairs, which makes it easy to line up trips and gear. A big kitchen is available, breakfast is included, and hot showers are a steady part of the setup. Some rooms are spacious and the beds can be comfortable, with a layout that works well for a short stop or a longer trek-heavy stay. The tradeoff is that the place can feel dated in parts, and noise from the street or late activity can carry into rooms.
