Rossio Hostel

Rarely do I write reviews, but this needs to be said- DO NOT STAY HERE. Especially not any time soon. I only stayed for 1 night although my booking was for two. The first night a big scurried across my bed and I thought nothing of it. However the second night I had a horrible skin crawling sensation, saw a bug crawling yet again in the bed, and squished it. Only so much blood came out of it I knew immediately it was a bed beg. I went down to the lobby right as reception was closing to tell the receptionist I found a bed bug. Here response to me, I can’t make this up 😂 “sorry I can’t help you I have to go home and go to sleep.” Go figure! Not to mention she had been on the phone with her mom on speaker while at the front desk all evening. All I could hear was her mom cursing on the phone while the receptionist told guests she was on the phone with her mom and to help themselves to any extras of what they needed for their rooms lol. Anyways, back to the bed bugs…I told her I would also like to sleep but can’t with bugs crawling in the bed. She said “Ew,” proceeded to give me the number of the manager and left. I tried calling and messaging the manager and even requested a refund for the night that I didn’t even stay there. He never responded! So keep this in mind that you will get horrible service and 0 responsiveness. And another note: the two women in my room had apparently booked all women accommodation and we ended up with a male roommate anyway. For some this is very important to maintain on the booking if you specifically book gender specific accommodation.

Lamentablemente, junto con una amiga tuvimos una experiencia horrible en este alojamiento. La habitación estaba infestada de chinches de cama, lo que nos provocó lesiones en la piel, malestar y gastos muy elevados en medicamentos, limpieza y reemplazo de pertenencias. Es una pena, porque el personal fue amable, pero esto no justifica una falta tan grave de higiene. Además, al revisar las reseñas, encontramos comentarios de hace más de un año describiendo exactamente el mismo problema, lo que demuestra que no se trata de un caso aislado, sino de una falta total de limpieza y control sanitario. El establecimiento no se hizo responsable de la situación ni de los daños ocasionados. Dejo este comentario para advertir a otros viajeros: revisen muy bien antes de reservar, porque una experiencia así puede arruinar completamente un viaje y afectar la salud.

TERRIBLE customer service and handling of situations. I was meant to be arriving at Rossio on 4th July 2025 until 6th July. My flight was delayed due to air strikes on the Friday which meant I was unable to be at Rossio for the first night of my booking but I made sure to let the hostel know I would arrive Saturday and to NOT give up my room I had paid for for the two nights. When I arrived early the Saturday morning in Lisbon, I was informed my room had been given away and nothing would available until 3pm (and only mixed rooms available even though I had booked a female only room). As a solo female traveller, this is not acceptable. After much back and forth and false promises from the hostel, I was completely ignored as they tried to make excuses. Once I FINALLY got into a room later that afternoon, the charging outlets were completely broken and the girls in that room had previously been moved due to BED BUGS. I am still waiting on my refund that you promised @ Rossio. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Our group was booked into multiple rooms for the 18th to 25th of July. It did not take long before we discovered bed bugs and ticks. We decided to leave the accommodation and find elsewhere to stay in very last minute, which is difficult with a group. The staff were trying to make compromises by putting another bed up or adding another sheet so the bed bugs couldn't get through. I do appreciate the owners communication within the withdrawal time, it was prompt and friendly. 1 star.

Whatever you do, DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. SAVE UR MONEY. There are many recent reviews of BED BUGS and the danger of this place. Please read all the reviews on booking.com that have the word bed bugs in them AS WELL AS GOOGLE REVIEWS and you will see this is a reoccurring problem that they do not take time to fix. They never closed down or properly informed their future customers. When informing staff and requesting a refund because of an allergy to bed bugs (and the overall disgust), crew continues to belittle the MAJOR issue and say ‘its not even your room’. They refuse to admit they have a pest problem (bed bugs get into wood, into clothes and can be carried over from person to person -> you will bring them home with you) and do not follow common law EU law. If these bugs get to you, your clothes and all your items can be ruined and it will also ruin your vacation

I had to leave early due to bedbugs. I woke up with bites all over my body and confirmed they were from the bed — it was a horrible experience. The room and common areas also felt unclean and neglected, which made it even more uncomfortable. Staff were friendly, but unfortunately that didn’t make up for the lack of hygiene and the health risk. I would not recommend staying here unless major improvements are made.

This place has bed bugs! We discovered bed bugs in all of our beds in the middle of the night. There was no one at reception to help us, and when we reached out the next day we were met with no response. Do not stay here. It was a nightmare.

Unsanitary, Bedbugs, No Response or Refund I got bedbugs during my stay at Rossio Hostel in July 2025. The room was unsanitary, and staff dismissed the issue when I reported it. I left early and requested a refund, but they’ve ignored multiple messages via WhatsApp and email. Zero accountability or empathy. Would not recommend.

BED BUGS!!!! I stayed for two nights and on the second night I found bed bugs crawling in my bed. I was able to find two other recent review with the same issue. The front desk staff was spectacular in helping me. They got me a new room and did my laundry. Very nice and helpful. But I did not sleep at all and it had ruined a whole day of my trip. The staff is fabulous not to worth the hassle of bed bugs

Eigentlich fast alles perfekt gewesen, tolle Lage, kostengünstig, netter Empfang, etc.. ABER nach nur einer Nacht hatte ich aufgrund Bettwanzen insgesamt 43 Bisse am Körper verteilt. Das heißt das muss ein ganzes Nest von Bettwanzen gewesen sein.

El desayuno y la ubicacion son excelentes La seguridad es muy baja en la noche Y de regreso, volví con muchas picaduras en el cuerpo asi que sospecho que hay bedbugs. Con el costo que tuve que pagar en desinfeccion en casa pude haberme quedado en un Hilton, (my poor choices)

We left shortly after checking in because there was a dead bedbug in my bed. I have photo proof. So we lost out on the cost of the hostel we did not use and had to book a last minute hotel on top of it. Also the bathrooms were disgusting. Clearly they lack proper ventilation. Honestly every hostel I booked for this trip had either bedbugs or german cockroaches. I've learned my lesson and won't be using hostels or the website any longer.
