Banana Surf House

Great review alert! Very clean and cosy hostel. The staff there were very welcoming and helpful. The staff were always cleaning throughout the day. Kitchen has all the pots and pans you need. Bathroom always kept clean. 2 minutes from bars, shops and beach. I hope you like steps, the location of the hostel is quite steep. It is under new management and they are improving it. No bed bugs. Brilliant sunset from roof terrace. I shall be returning to this hostel.

Habe das Zimmer auf Bettwanzen untersucht, keine gefunden. Ich verstehe nicht, warum sich Leute beschweren. Man kann ein privates Zimmer für 25€ p.P. Haben. Man hat zwar kein Fenster aber kann Nachts die Tür vor dem Schlafen öffnen. Absolut ausreichend für 1-2 Nächte. Wie gesagt: der Preis. Was erwartest du? Der Mann hat die Dinge nicht so gut erklärt, war etwas kurz angebunden und unhöflich. Deswegen gibts dafür abzug. Ansonsten vollkommend ausreichend. Bad sauber, Küche leicht zugänglich und es gibt einen Kühlschrank.

It was ok for what we paid and more or less what we expected. The self check in and check out process was fairly easy. Towels were included. WiFi worked most of the time. Power cut off a couple of times but only briefly. The location is fairly good, if you exit the hostel to the left there are steps down to central los cristianos and if you exit to the right there are steps down to las vistas beach. Both only take 5mins to get to. It’s a lot of steps but we knew this in advance and we are both overweight so needed the exercise! We didn’t have any issues with bed bugs or cockroaches like some of the other reviewers. Contray to some of the previous reviews there are actually 2 shared bathrooms, not one. One on the ground floor and one on the roof terrace. Both bathrooms had a sink, toilet and shower. We never had any issues using them but it did feel quiet. The roof terrace is actually quite good, with really good views. Although the furniture up there was dirty. We were in the famous TW2 with the hole in the wall facing the stairs. It was extremely stuffy in the room, but there was a huge fan supplied which made it just about bearable. This leads me on to my main issue, the security. There were no staff to be seen and basically anyone could have walked in off the street. Obviously it’s quite out of the way so this is unlikely, but it is a bit unnerving. The hole in the wall in TW2 is both a privacy and a security issue - it’s big enough for someone to climb in if they wanted to. I understand it needs to be there for ventilation but why not cover it with an airbrick, or at least some bars, or have a closable window on it. There was just a straw blind covering it which was no use, you could still see through it, we had to just hang a t shirt over it for privacy and hope nobody would climb in. I would also advise you take your own toilet paper, whilst it did get replenished it often ran out. Would I stay there again? Maybe, but would book one of the better rooms.

Bed Bugs! Health Hazard! Needs to be closed ASAP.

Found skeletons of bedbugs on the sheets upon arrival, so decided not to risk sleeping there, and checked out immediately. Staff did not respond when we contacted them about the situation.

Angekommen. Bett nach Bettwanzen untersucht (wegen vorherigen Rezensionen). 3 Bettwanzen aufeinmal gesehen. Abgereist. Wie kann sowas sein!?

There were bedbugs in my room. I stayed four days and ended up with over 50 bites. The last night I slept outside on a sun lounger on the terrace as I didn't want to sleep in the bed. I had to check myself in and didn't see any staff, there weren't many people staying there. There was also a guy from Morocco who seemed to be living there more long term. He grabbed my bum twice.

Wir wussten, dass wir eine günstige Unterkunft gebucht hatten. Dies war auf unserer gemsamten Reise die günstigste Unterkunft, wir haben für eine Nacht übernachtet und am nächsten Tag ging es dann schon an den Flughafen. Was wir vorfanden war jenseits unserer Erwartungen. Die Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber war sehr mühsam, mir wurden insgesamt 4 YouTube Videos zum Check-In geschickt. Außerdem war der Kühlschrank dreckig. Die zur Beschriftung gestellten Stifte waren alle ausgetrocknet. Auch war die Dachterrasse sehr dreckig. Das schlimmste war aber, dass wir Bedbugs bites bekommen haben. Das hat mich echt wütend gemacht. Wie kann man als Gastgeber auf die Hygiene nicht achten.

Esperienza molto negativa. Il posto era maleodorante, sporco, con porte che si chiudevano a fatica e la principale sempre aperta. Abbiamo trovato cimici da letto e ci siamo dovuti allontanare all’una di notte alla ricerca di un’altra sistemazione. Ho inoltrato un messaggio per avvisarli e hanno confermato la presenza delle cimici da letto emettendo un rimborso. Disagio totale.
