Mad Monkey Siem Reap

A whole lot of bedbugs... Really annoying and quite disgusting🥵

Good hostel with great bar and swimming pool. I give 3 stars because there were bedbugs on my bed.

Bed bugs. Stayed for one night, when I woke up I had over a hundred bites (could very well be more) looked on the bed and you could see the bed bugs some were so big due to the feast they had on my back and face. When I told the staff they were very apologetic and said they would bomb the room but had no other rooms for me to stay in. After proceeding to charge me for the vampire filled night I had I decided to leave to another location.

Great atmosphere and social scene, free welcome drink on arrival and clean beds. The advice on travel and linking you with trustworthy Tuk Tuk drivers at an honest price was what I needed arriving in a new country. The beds have a plastic covering on which rustles when you move around but i will stress, it is for combatting bed bugs, so its for your own benefit! A big plus - it was always nice coming back in after a hot sweltering day in Angkor Temples to jump in the pool or grab a cold beer from the bar!

Overall pretty good. Great party vibe decent price drinks and for affordable prices- not much complains here. The pool was a welcome respite and the bar has interesting concept where you’re standing on sand which I think is really cool. The bar games are a load of fun and they have laundry amenities and all for super cheap I think all 3 of us together got our laundry done for 10usd or sth. Location was pretty good walking distance to pub street and the night market. There are good restaurants plastered all over a 5 minute radius and it’s convenient to walk around the area. Can’t give it a 5 star unfortunately as there were some bed bugs under the bed and the toilets weren’t very clean. Also Unfortunately, just comparing with the other mad monkey hostels in the country I felt the staff was a bit more aloof and less interactive as compared to other Mad Monkey hostels and same for guests but I suppose that’s just a personal thang. Deffo willing to give it another go in the near future but I think my mates and I personally found the experience at Koh Rong Samleon and Phnom Penh Mad Monkey better.

Im gonna forever be a Mad Monkey hostel lover and absolutely loved this hostel. A bit more chill than other Mad Monkeys in Cambodia but still a great atmosphere, clean, comfortable, amazing location BUT unfortunately I got bitten by BEDBUGS here so I gotta give a low rating, felt like staff didn't really care that much and didn't make effort to sort it out. If that didn't happen I would have given 10/10

Very nice and modern hostel, nice showers and toilets, staff very friendly and fun. Did however experience bed bugs, and when I told the staff they didn’t seem to believe me. They checked the mattress and told me the bed was fine and that my bites were just mosquito bites (however this is not true there were no mosquitoes and I got over 50 bites all over my body in one night). They only changed the sheets of the bed and not the mattress so watch out !They kindly upgraded me to a better room.
