I didn’t like the place at all. I’ve never seen a hostel so dirty, the kitchen was completely disgusting, there was bedbugs in the bedroom, the sheets provided were full of bood and who knows what else, there was bathroom installations were horrible, one of the sinks didn’t work at all, and there were wholes on the shower walls, like made to spy on the person that is showering right next to you, i can say this because of the placement of the little holes, clearly intended. Also the doors of the bedrooms and the door keys didn’t work properly you almost have to break it to be able to open it. All of that for a really high price compared to what is provided. If it was like 20/30aud the night i wouldnt say all this but it’s way off price for the installations.

pros: - excellent aircon in rooms - cheap drinks at the hostel bar (but it closes at 7pm) - location (super close to port airlie and the town), but airlie is a small place so every hostel will have a good location cons: - very dirty hostel. the kitchen was constantly full of dirty pots, sides are never cleaned, and you have to hold your breath opening the fridges because they smell so bad - social areas are unbearable- very dirty and FULL of flies/bugs/no AC so very hot - every single person in my room experienced bed bugs, we all woke up itching and covered in bites - no plugs or laps near beds

Bed Bugs spotted! No sign of them on our mattress but found two adult bed bugs crawling along bed. I believe they just have crawled in from another room, this hostel needs to do a full fumigation and clean. Laundry services constantly in use or out of order. However, the on site worker was extremely helpful with sorting us with money to go to a laundrette and refund us with early checkout.

BED BUGS, DIRT AND UNAPOLOGETIC STAFF. A group of us stayed in this hostel for 4 days. On the second night I found one bedbug on my pillow on the top bunk of a bed that was located below an air con system. Upon research I found that bed bugs tend to live in electricity outlets including sockets and air conditioning units. I did not tell my group as a didn't want to cause hysteria within a clean and hyper conscientious cohort. We chose this hostel on the basis that the other more popular and better rated hostels in the town were booked out. Upon checking out myself and the main guest made the incident aware to a member of staff followed by management. We received no apology for this and in fact were blamed for potentially bringing this infestation on site. We presented to the management the fact that we had just begun our travels and had purchased new suitcases and clothing specifically for our trip. But of course we shouldn't have had to prove ourselves to a staff member. Bearing in mind there were dirty socks left outside our "deep cleaned" room upon our arrival. As someone that has worked in high end customer service and hospitality roles for many years, I am familiar with the procedures that should follow when a client comes to you with a query and a complaint. Rule number one is to be apologetic. We asked for compensation and were kindly provided with money to thoroughly wash all of our belongings which we were very grateful for. But sadly we didn't receive an apology for the occurrence and no ownership for the the incident was taken by the staff on site. When looking through reviews online after the matter this clear lack of empathy and unprofessional approach is apparent in the rude responses to customer reviews.

PLEASE,do not book here! We stayed one night in a 4 bed dorm and were bitten all over by bed bugs! We went to the pharmacy and confirmed it was bed bugs. Staff were nice however we seriously regret sleeping here for that night. We missed our whitsundays tour due to finding new accom and the hundreds of bites! Unclean place overall.

Great location- 10 min walk to the town centre. Bus stop close to the property. You have to walk uphill on a steep ramp though- might not be ideal for someone with asthma etc. We were greeted by friendly staff. But our private room for 2 was quite suffocated. There was no window in the room- only a glass door with no mesh. Opening the door meant inviting lizards, mosquitoes etc. The toilets and showers were not the cleanest. They were quite damp and suffocated as well. The premises overall wasn't clean. Not sure if they had bed bugs (can't confirm) but I have had rashes since we stayed there. Overall, an average experience.

Deplorable hygiene, there are bed bugs in some rooms. the owner initially denied the facts, even with the evidence in front of him. after spending a lot of money on medical appointments and prescription treatments, the owner finally decided to do something about it. without effectiveness, because they are currently always present.

We had bed bugs in our bed and the place wasn’t clean. However they cleaned the room. we had to find an other place in the middle of the night because nobody was responding.
