The morning after my stay, I woke up with several very itchy bites on my arm and shoulder, which made me concerned that there may have been bed bugs in the room. I have attached photos of the bites for your reference.

I stayed at this hostel for one night during the month of January and I caught bed bugs. They spread to all my clothes in my backpack. I had to throw away most of my stuff, my backpack included. So yeah, this one night cost me quite a bit of money... Emotionally, it was also quite rough. Hostel was fine otherwise. It's truly a shame. I stayed here in 2012 and everything was great.

It was nice, super regimented and they charge for everything, including towels and storing your things after 10am checkout. But when the guy in my room had a million bed bug bites that he claimed to have got when staying at a friend's place they quickly changed me to a new room which I appreciated.

It was full of drunks partying and being noisy all night. The staff were not knowledgeable about anything and simple things like shampoo or shower gel had containers but they were empty. I also found a bug on the bed that I hope is not a bed bug. Overpriced for what it is. The floors in the bedroom were sticky and the over cleanliness was bad. I will not return or recommend to anyone.

First of all, I didn't even know that it was a hostel because it wasn't stated in Booking.com. It was also very expensive. (More than CAD$320 a night!) The first room we were assigned to had a pubic hair on the bed even before anyone went on it. (I normally check the bed and room for bed bugs before unpacking or going on the bed.) The bathroom fixtures were rusted and there was a bottle cap left on the bathroom floor from the previous guest. The bathroom was gross. There were other issues like noise. The staff sent us to another room but we couldn't go in. After several tries checking out several rooms which had issues (dirty/musty smell) and a few hours of our vacation wasted, I asked if they could just refund me my money so I can check in at a nearby hotel. Unfortunately, I could not get an answer until too late. The other hotel was fully booked and they also refused to refund us for the first night. We did get a room upgrade but it was extremely noisy! Even though the hostel has strict rules about noise, the hostel was surrounded by bars that play loud music into the wee hours (3 am) of the morning. The sound can be heard even with all the windows closed and ear plugs on! We were given one free breakfast and a small refund. To me, it's not worth it. Some people seem happy there but maybe they only paid a small fee. With the price I paid at Booking.com, it was definitely not worth it! My bad for booking too late and getting an expensive accommodation. Don't get me wrong - if you get this for $100-$150/night, go for it but anything more is way too much. Lastly, they have crazy strict rules like no eating in the rooms. Food is extremely expensive in Copenhagen, so if you plan to buy grocery food to eat in your room, this one won't work.

Where do I start? Tinea. Im writing this review a few days after our stay in the private “king” room, and the expected happened. From the sticky floors in the shower to now we both have developed foot fungus. With that out of the way, trying to sleep on the first night was pure hell. Our room was on level 5, four floors away from the deafeningly loud nightclub they ran on Saturday night on level 1, but nonetheless the whole building rattled and shook with the bass from the ridiculously loud music being played down there. If that wasn’t enough, hearing loud drunks spill out onto the street yelling and smashing bottles topped it off. But no, that wasn’t the end of it. Sunday morning after a very broken sleep, we got into the lift at our end of the building and were immediately overcome by the overwhelming stench of vomit. We couldn’t use that lift for the remainder of our four night stay. Even avoiding the lift we were treated to the smell of beer in the carpet on level 5, and the smell of cigarette smoke that had permeated our walls. Then there was the bed. It wasn’t the most comfortable in the world, but it was forgivable being the type of accommodation this was, the pillows were lumpy and could improve a lot. The floors were not the cleanest in the world, the dust and hair, and as previously mentioned, the shower floor was sticky when wet. So in short, this place has responsible service of alcohol issues to deal with, cleanliness issues to deal with, and noise issued to deal with. I’d rather sleep on the floor of the train station than stay here again.

- it’s effectively a giant loud bar used by Danes with some rooms to sleep in for tourists - our bathroom in our 8-bed dorm was filthy on arrival, and on our second night we had no toilet paper and it still hadn’t been cleaned. When we went down to ask if it had been cleaned and if we could get toilet paper, we were told there is a ‘new procedure’ where the rooms aren’t cleaned regularly(????) and that housekeeping wasn’t around so would come the next day. Our toilet was refilled with paper but never cleaned. Bins never emptied. It was like a public toilet. Considering the huge number of guests and rooms, and the insane money they pocket from the bar, the lack of cleaning is a DISGRACE - the restaurant/bar/chill out area is a public bar open to all. Local Danes completely filled it out having reserved all the tables at night and were there pre party. Absolutely could not chill out there or relax after a long day exploring - the restaurant area is filled with arcade games. When you come to chill out/have breakfast (people were reading and working in the morning), groups had come in to play on the exceptionally loud hammer games. People were jumping every time at the loud bang and it was so uncomfortable to sit there in the morning - everything is about making money from that bar. They don’t care about your stay or the cleanliness. They know people will choose it cos it’s central. Don’t bother. Copenhagen is small enough to stay in a cleaner hostel in a different area. Would be very easy to catch bedbugs or pinworms (or any other type of worm infection) here for lack of cleaning and hygiene

bed bugs found. slow lift, toilet inside the room is dirty and placement of toilet tub doesn’t let sit properly on it.
