They had bed bugs in one room but stayed in another and it was fine.

I’m not sure if it’s got to do with the poor ventilation, but the moment I jumped into my bed, I started sneezing, scratching and experiencing sinuses. I’ve always been extremely sensitive to dust and other allergens. But one thing I know for certain, is when a bed has mould or poorly cleaned sheets. My back flares like crazy, and this is what I experienced. This normally happens when rooms don’t get enough ventilation. Dark, humid spaces are the perfect. Breeding ground for bed mould and even bed bugs. Sleeping in the bottom bunk probably wasn’t smart either. And dust on the frame of the bed will fall onto you with the slightest movement of the person above you. Maybe one other thing that the hostel could try is brainstorm creative ways to allow guests to check whether other people in the room are okay with the light being turned on. I’ve stayed in enough hostels to realise that it’s very common, but maybe Jacob’s Inn can think of ways to be DIFFERENT from the rest you know.

This hostel is modern, professional and has the right amount of socializing for those who aren’t into it. You can still find a quiet spot to do some work or take a call or read a book in the lounge/ cafe. Rooms sizes are good, however, I was bitten all over due to bed bugs which was disgusting & concerning!! I saw them cleaning all morning but sadly, these mattresses don’t get enough cleaning or air ventilation. In the lounge, it was super hot and flies everywhere (but that’s also everywhere in Barcelona). So, I don’t think it was worth the value I paid for and will not return back.

I got bitten by bed bugs. The facilities smelled like urine and were not clean. Often there was no toilet paper. Long waiting for check-in. The iPads for self check-in were switched off.
