I had a Great time ... I was worried about previous reviews... But beds were incredible clean with special protection. So no bed bugs around at all. There was lovely people around. We did some walking around together. So a friendly atmosphere... And the staff starting with the receptionist was exclusively lovely. Always welcoming, smiling and supportive. Thank you all for the wonderful time that you contributed to may stay I Porto 🙏🏻💖🌞

I was in outisde all day for celebration for fc porto, when i returned to hostel after midnight i realized there was bed bug in the bed and I couldnt sleep all night

Look, if you're looking for comfort, this isn't the place. It's full of bad bugs, and what's more, the owner doesn't even provide a simple fan, you'll get very hot because Portugal is a hot country. I don't recommend it.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a very distressing and unacceptable experience I had during my stay at this hostel. During my stay, I was exposed to bed bugs, which resulted in multiple bites all over my body, accompanied by severe itching, irritation, and discomfort. I personally captured one of the bed bugs and reported the issue immediately to the reception staff, showing them both the insect and the visible bite marks on my body (photos attached as evidence). From the staff’s initial reaction, it was very clear to me that they were already aware of this problem, yet showed no real concern for guests’ safety or hygiene. Instead of taking responsible action—such as closing the room, performing deep cleaning, or calling professional pest control—they simply moved me to another room. What further confirmed the seriousness of this negligence is that on the very same day, they assigned another guest to the exact same bed that I had reported as being infested. This behavior demonstrates a complete lack of responsibility, disregard for guest health, and no intention to resolve a known hygiene issue. This hostel clearly does not follow proper cleanliness standards, does not take pest infestations seriously, and puts guests at risk. Bed bugs are not a minor issue—they are a serious health and hygiene concern, and the way this situation was handled is unacceptable. I am submitting this complaint to warn future travelers and to request that Booking.com take this matter seriously and investigate this property. No guest should ever go through such an experience. I have attached photos of the bed bug and the bite marks as proof.

I found bed bugs and they changed the room. And restrooms are not that clean

The kitchen is unusable, maybe you can use a plate and a fork, forget about cooking. You'd better go out or buy cooked meals from the supermarket. 3 toilets for a whole floor, not nearly enough. Showers next to the kitchen with no privacy to get changed even. Go only with your towel and change in your room. Bed bugs.

Lots. The bottom bunk bed is on the floor, and the rooms are tiny and narrow - most luggage can’t be stored in the room properly. The bed I was in had bed bugs, I was bitten over two nights - I had caught and killed one bed bug but there was a second. The bathrooms had a bad smell that wafted down the corridors. The only redeeming feature was that they seemed pretty clean. The kitchen was clean but the facilities were lacking - no stove to cook, only an oven.

hygiene was very bad: - bathrooms were constantly full of piss (and other), smelly, sticky... - kitchen as well, no stove, terrible smell in there - the hallways also smells bad, it's hard to breethe thru your nose - we got bit by bed bugs...

Leider hatte ich Bedbugs. Ich hab es gemeldet und es wurde zwar gereinigt und getauschto bekommt man Bedbugs nicht weg. Ich könnte in ein anderes Zimmer wechseln, dann war es okay. Es könnte generell etwas sauberer sein aber im Großen und Ganzen war es okay. War 6 Tage dort.

I travel a lot, and this was one of the most unpleasant hostels I've ever stayed in. When I entered the dormitory room, there was a terrible smell—a stench of marijuana and disinfectant. Opening the window didn't help. Then I discovered bedbugs on the bed. I asked a staff, but the staff said they were all booked and could only disinfect and change the sheets. The smell was disgusting, and I waited an hour for everything to dry. It was impossible to sleep; it was so noisy, open window to main road. The building had no signal and the Wi-Fi didn't work. Unfortunately, I couldn't rebook another hostel; it was nighttime and everything was full. The women's showers were dirty, and the hair dryer didn't work.

The heat was unbearable (found out later I could ask to use the air-conditioning) and the noise from the passing cars was annoying. And my bad luck I got bitten by bedbugs. However I can change rooms the next morning.

I had a bed bug in my bed and whilst they offered to clean my room there wasn’t an option to swap rooms. I decided to leave that night as I wasn’t comfortable and because I booked on booking.com I have to go through them for a refund. The staff were very friendly and helpful in that process however booking.com still haven’t responded to my request despite saying they’d respond in 24hs.

Reception staff was helpful, however I Woke up to a bed bug the size of a small dog marching off across my bed, with quite a lot of me in it! Seems I slid out of my sleeping bag liner.

Upon my departure, I was sick and I was told there was no room availability. However I could hang out however long without no issue. So I did and found the pictured bedbug crawling upon me. The fellow who was in the reception accused me as if I had brought that in because I said it was on me while I sat in their lobby. I’m not giving a bad review rather a conscious one. He got upset because I told some tenants to be mindful with their stuff on the couch I was sitting on. I immediately departed and rebuked his idea of being the culprit of having such big on me. I’ve been riddled by bed bugs before and nearly ended up being seeing by doctors. This guy thought I was being funny and I take this so seriously. So my feedback isn’t at a personal level against anyone but the nonchalantness attitude towards what can turn into a significant mess. Take it for whatever is worth. Notice I ain’t dropping it to 1s but rather a conscious review as a well experienced traveler for 26-nonstop months.

1- photos are misleading in reality it’s just and old hospital building. The beds are good however you don’t have a lock or key to store anything. 2 the security is really really bad, the front door is always open so anyone can get in and the rooms on the top floor have no code or key so basically anyone can get in. 3 showers are very small and usually only cold water. Men bathroom is connected to kitchen so you will literally go through the kitchen after showering. 4 the people staying there are obviously not tourists. I would say 80% are Arabs. Not trying to discriminate but many people felt unsafe and regularly a thing or two would go missing. 5 there are bed bugs as you will feel the need to scratch during the night and it’s insanely hot inside the rooms. 6 the internet well its just horrific. If ur in the reception you get some connection however in ur room you won’t be able to open any website or video. 7 the reviews you see here and on booking are completely fake. All you gotta do is filter them by region and you will realize the tourists all give bad reviews like the one I’m typing. The only reason it’s rated so highly is because of bots which u can identify by the region where they are from, the proficiency of their English and how identical they type/their profile photo. 8 I’m confident that if any inspection were to happen the hostel would be closed due to safety issues. Ex: a women in my room got sick from the smell/temp

Ex: a women in my room got sick from the smell/temperature and paramedics came there in the middle of the night. 9 even though it is really cheap and the rating is decent you should only stay here in emergency case as it’s the same as being in a homeless shelter. 10 yes I will contact ASAE the competent authority to check the place and prove my point. 11 trust me you should pay the extra 4/8 euros to stay in a safe hostel far away from potential danger.

CLEANING: -Bedsheets with stains, hair, smelling bad (not washed). I had many bites during the nights, I think it’s BED BUGS SECURITY/I felt scarily unsafe: -NO locks in the doors of the dormitories, so they are all kept opened at all times and everyone can come in! And NO personal locker 😳 -No doors to get to the bathrooms (opened to the kitchen area) neither even locks for the shower boxes! A man opened the door and saw me naked while I was in the shower 🤬 OTHER THINGS. -Wi-Fi: not working at all! You cannot browse, not to mention calls! Also, cannot use mobile data because it’s an old building with thick walls -NO air conditioning, and you cannot open the window as it’s in a very busy street! -no common area neither real kitchen (no stove!) RESULT: I’ve decided to move to another (decent) Hostel after my first night. Don’t make the same mistake and stay away of this “Hostel” 😞
