RR Hostel is great. It feels like old school backpacking. Rodrigo had his friends over, who were so nice. It was great getting to hang out with the locals. He has some rescue dogs who are adorable. When you go there, make sure to ask Rodrigo about the hostel, he’s worked so hard to decorate it and everything has a meaning. It’s so interesting. The place is also perfectly clean and no bed bugs! Which is ideal.

Really frustrating. Checked in with a lovley welcome although was faced with dog poo, vomet in the toilet and bed bugs in the bed. When the host was confronted with the issue of the bed bugs he got very personal. Suggesting that white people always complain. He then refused to give us a refund and said he doesn’t have the money anymore because he had given the cash to his landlord for rent thus it was not available. Very disappointing experience.

RR Hostel ligt in het historische centrum van Campeche, dicht bij het hoofdplein, Calle 59, restaurants, bars en bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand. Het werkt het best als simpele centrale basis: kamers kunnen schoon en comfortabel zijn, personeel kan aardig en behulpzaam zijn, en er is meestal een lichte ochtendsetup met koffie, thee, toast of brood met jam. Het dakterras is de duidelijkste extra. Het geeft je een plek boven de straat om thee of koffie te nemen, af te koelen en wat meer ademruimte te krijgen dan in de compacte kamers. Verwacht een oud, mooi gebouw met hacienda-style touches, een courtyard- of patiofeel en ongelijke kamers. Sommige kamers zijn donker of zonder raam, badkamers kunnen piepklein zijn, en geluid kan door de lobby, gangen en nearby nightlife galmen.

- Geluid kan een serieus issue zijn, vooral bij de lobby, gangen, receptie of bars in de buurt.
- Sommige kamers zijn erg klein, donker of zonder raam, en badkamers kunnen krap aanvoelen.
- Er is geen lift, dus kamers op hogere verdiepingen kunnen lastig zijn met zware bagage.
- Parkeren kan off-site, verwarrend of minder dichtbij zijn dan verwacht.
- Oudere problemen met netheid, water, sloten en beschikbaarheid van de host waren ernstig, dus dit past het best bij flexibele reizigers die de centrale locatie belangrijker vinden dan polish.
