Global Village

Despite this hostels handy location and nice atmosphere we found an issue with bed bugs. We were moved to a different room however other people in our room were not moved

Unfortunately, before going to sleep I found two bed bugs (one on the floor and one on the side of my mattress). After this my friends and I moved into a new room where we didn’t have an issue, however there were still people sleeping in the dorm room where I saw the bugs, even after informing the staff. So I’m unsure if this issue is being handled properly. It’s very unfortunate as the hostel has a nice atmosphere and ideal location. Also, some lockers and lock to our first room were broken.

I’m not usually someone who leaves bad reviews but feel it’s my responsibility to share my experience in hope this causes the problem to be solved so it doesn’t happen to someone else. I woke up covered in bed bugs on my first night, the hostel was very unclean, mold on the shower curtains, the photos and reviews are very misleading compared to what I witnessed. The staff were kind and understanding of the situation though.

Overall really enjoyed my stay at Global Village. It was clean and great value for money. The best hostel I've stayed in. Brilliant location. Staff were a bit standoffish with the exception of Jesse, who was kind and welcoming. That being said, they all worked hard to keep the kitchen immaculately clean, which was appreciated. Breakfast was a welcome surprise and lovely. Bed was comfy and clean, and the showers were adequate. Personal preference I was disappointed people from other local hostels were able to access the building, particularly as they had bedbugs in their hostel and could have been transferring them to the lovely Global Village. I also did not think the accommodation was suitable for families, simpl as having two young (loud) children around was not desirable. Final thing I will say is that I originally booked a female only dorm to be informed that the website had made an error ('a glitch') and I was relocated into a mixed dorm. Not the end of the world as the other tennents were lovely, but I struggled to settle my anxiety as they arrived back at various times. Despite these minor opinions I will definitely consider returning, if I am ever in Belfast solo.
