Sassy and rude receptionist, didn't tell us they found bed bugs before we had paid for the room

The hostel experince was a disaster. Are friend found bed bugs everywhere on his bed. DIDN'T offer us a new room and had to stay up cleaning clothes from 2:00-10:30am. No help no accomodations worst part they asked us to go get the bed sheets for them...... Absolute nightmare of a hostel plzzz avoid if you wanna sleep and avoid having the worst night of your life 🤢🤢🤢

BEDBUGS!!!! BEDBUGS!!!! STAY AWAY!!!! STAY AWAY!! If you are reading this don’t do it, don’t stay here it is not worth it. We stayed at this hostel on the night of the 28th of April and about ten minutes after turning the lights off we were swarmed with bedbugs. We immediately asked the desk clerk for a new room and were told no because “we will bring the bedbugs to the new room”. So with now where to sleep and us checking out the next morning we decided to spend from 3am-10:30am laundering all of our clothes and disinfecting our bags and jackets to hopefully not bring this infestation we’ve acquired at this hostel with us on the rest of our trip. There were six of us in the room so the cleaning took a long time with the one laundry machine and dryer that had available. The dryer also damaged some of our clothes beyond repair. The front desk staff were very kind and apologetic but couldn’t do much to help other than offering sanitizing spray which we very much appreciated. Due to the long time to clean our things and remove the infestation that possibly transferred into our backpacks, we had to miss a tour we had booked and was the main purpose of our trip to Berlin. We also did not sleep at all at night as our room was uninhabitable and didn’t feel like having a bunch of bedbug bites in the morning. We were incredibly disappointed with our experience at this hostel and were told we couldn’t get a refund as the bedbugs weren’t their fault. I would like to point out that these were not all small bedbugs, it was the whole range of the family from grandpa to baby so they had been there for a while.

The hostel was a massive disappointment. Me and 5 friends were staying with the hostel between April 28th and 29th, and were planning to do some local tours and exploration. The rooms seemed fine at first, not excessively clean but tolerable. However, after the lights were out and we as a group were ready to sleep, one of us found an adult bed bug next to his head on the pillow. Further inspection found several more. The bugs were definitely adults, due to their brown colouration. After reporting this to the front desk, we were denied a new room and only offered free laundry and beer. In an effort to prevent the spread as we had other places to visit after this hostel, we spent the entire night doing 6 people worth of laundry. When the cleaning crew finally arrived around 6 am, we were lent some alcohol based cleaner to disinfect our bags. We ended up missing a key tour that could not be rebooked due to this. Some of our clothes were also damaged by the drying machine, as they were not normally washable in that way but needed to be disinfected. The hostel refused to reimburse us, stating that is was not their fault the room had bed bugs. The hostel failed to clear the bar for minimum support, then would not acknowledge its failings. I would not recommend staying here.

BED BUGS ARE EVERYWHERE. Noticed all the bed bugs crawling out as soon as the lights turned off. Staff was friendly but basically said "we can't move you, we can offer free washing and drinks". The washing machines will shrink your clothing, and the wash + dry takes abour 2 hours. We were a group of 6, so this was quite a long process with no support. Also, drying does not properly dry, so we've had to dry everything with a blow dryer one by one. Staff did not give us another room and do anything about the bed bugs. NO REFUNDS WERE GIVEN. We had absolutely no sleep, as we were busy washing all of our clothing. When we did try, we got kicked out of the lobby and told to sleep in the bed bug infested room. Absolutely would not recommend if you're traveling. Because of this ordeal, we've missed a tour booking, which they also did not care for.

They have bed bugs, don’t go here

I had been forewarned by a friend who had stayed there a year prior and had brought home a bed bug infestation. So I flip the mattress and lo and behold is a veritable pile of eggs. I took the attached picture and showed it to the front desk. They were very friendly, but tried to tell me that I was seeing might just be the aftermath of an infestation that had been “dealt with”. So either they did have a proper extermination and just didn’t clean up afterwards or someone did a quick once over and called it done. They put me in a different room and the unoccupied beds there pass the inspection. Cut to my last night there and one of the other guests tells me that his bed has bed bugs. Also the guest kitchen lacks proper cooking knives.

Good location. The staff is nice. Matress and pillow are very thin. In the shower you have to keep pressing the button or the water will stop coming out. I think there are bugs in the beds because me and my friends have bug bites. The access to the kitchen and fridge is from 7am to 10pm, it would be better 24/7. It is right next to the train station so you have the noise.

Do not come to this hostel. They have bedbugs.

FAT warning they have bed bugs 😰🤮 It was my second time at the industry Palast hostel and it was absolutely disgusting 🤢 they had Strange black dots on the beds which I am sure were bed bugs and there were boogers on the ceiling 🙀 it was so bad here that I got a foot infection on my foot while showering! DONT GO HERE IFYOU WANT BED BUGS!! I was trying to sleep and complained about the noise and the dog and cat someone brought in the other room! Just don’t go here if you want to go to the doctor nonstop. The windows are not clean and someone left a kiss lip on my window?!

I've stayed in enough hostels across the world to be confident in saying this was the most disappointing experience i've had. I found bed bugs around my bed at 23:00 on my second night of a four night stay, and the front desk offered me two options: Get refunded for the remaining two nights but leave the hostel, and a complimentary laundry service to clean my clothes. At almost midnight in winter i'm not going to try and find another hostel to stay in and any hostel would've cost over twice the amount i'd have been refunded per night. As a result i've had to spend my last morning in Berlin cleaning my clothes on high heat which has ruined some of my clothes and also had to buy new clothes to wear whilst ALL of my belongings are in the wash. Ontop of that new people were still coming into the room which to me shows that hygiene and customer wellbeing isn't a top priority here, surely the room should've been vacated and properly fumigated to get rid of the bugs. Also the pillows just feel like a bag of cotton balls and aren't comfortable to sleep on. Avoid my experience and stay at a different hostel. The location is alright but i'm sure there are better places around.

My stay in the Industriepalast hostel was a grim one. There is nothing else to say apart from the fact that my bed was infested with bed bugs. This can happen everywhere, of course, but it was the first time this had happened to me. Unfortunately, I only realised after my stay, when it was too late. I was stubborn and put off all my bites as mosquito bites until I saw one crawling. The rooms are very spacious, the beds are relatively comfortable, and they charge extra for sheets and towels. Service is okay. The common area is cool, and the location is great for people looking to party in Berlin. My review is tainted by the fact that I encountered bed bugs, and I hope this is not the case for everyone, of course. But that was my experience.

WARNING: they have bed bugs!! I was here in February for one night, didn't notice them and brought them home with me. Worst thing that has ever happened to us, very poor hygiene and bizarre that you have to pay for infested sheets.

had to sleep on chairs on a 3 day school trip, rooms were awful bedframe had bogeys on it with al kinds of stuff such as blood mixed in with earwax and hairs. urine stains on the mattress as the beds weren't cleaned properly. got so bad I hate to sleep on 3 chairs with the duvets due to reviews mentioning bed bugs. food was awful breakfast mostly contained bread rolls everyday I stayed there. shower was difficult to use as you'd move the shower know slightly left and it would turn into boiled kettle water level as I burnt myself trying to adjust it too a normal temp. didn't feel safe as a random guy came up to our rooms at 1am telling the girls on our trip to come outside and staying there until a teacher had to deal with it. The creep had also followed my teacher to her hotel room. overall a bad experience and I do not advise anyone to ever go there again even if it is a cheap £18 per night the price says it all. pictures below how clean the beds were.

The location is really good, specially having Warschauer station in front of it, staff was nice. The really bad part are the bed bugs, I am allergic to it and got many bites, also the risk to bring it to my own home.

There were bedbugs in the room. After one night with little sleep I had to leave.

They have BEDBUGS! Do not go, many of our group got bitten by the bedbugs and we had to change the hostel. The staff was very rude and did not care about the bedbugs. The hostel is also very noisy because you can hear the traffic to your room.

Location : so close to the transportation station, clubs, shopping mall and good restaurants nearby. But it is quiet in the building. Room: there are 6 beds in my room. But still enough big space. I was worried about cleanliness. Luckily I didn't have bed bug issues. Very comfortable. The only problem is pillow is too thin. Kitchen: Middle size. But functional. Common area : There are pub, sofa, snooker, office working space and big outdoor area. Bathroom and toilet : super clean. But I don't like the push buttons.

My worst experience in a hostel.Had booked 8 bed room ,got bit from bed bugs several times and opened light saw they were coming from everywhere.They moved me for more "security" in a room with only one person.In the morning he had destroyed my closed luggage with his tools stole my wallet with 235€,Id card, Driving License,Bank cards,small locker where I had my 2 my phones......the receptionist totally rude told me is my fault,I managed to call the police and my family because I was left with no cent and documents.The person had registered with fake,number,Id and went away without even checking out,etc.totally horrible experience,looked the person did that several times and they looked to be on his side with caring about his identity........

Bed bugs and staff that don't care to fix it. Asked for bug spray and was just told "no".

Bed Bug Alert They do not clean bed, pillow, blanket and its sheet. Found 3 bed bugs crawling the wall. Absolute nightmare, NEVER come to this place.

We found some bed bugs when we arrived and no one at the reception seemed to care. No refund was offered and no manager was available. Needless to say we left as soon as possible

BED BUG INFESTATION. Staff were unapologetic and instead blamed us for the infestation. No compensation offered we had to argue for a refund on the bed sheets at the very least. The room next to ours was sealed off with tape around the door frame. Likely to have been infested. From reading other reviews this is clearly an ongoing issue at this hostel. Sort it out!! I have never had bed bugs before, three weeks after staying at this hostel - and thoroughly cleaning all my belonging, I have found one in my room and have been bitten. Perfect for quarantine. Thanks!

Avoid if you can - bed bugs issue in just about every room (had a friend who also suffered from bed bugs in another room). Let the pictures speak for themselves. They KNOW about the bed bugs issue. Hell the blanket and pillow you use never gets washed.

Has bedbugs in multiple rooms, the reception didn't gave any kind of refund

Two words: BED BUGS. When you tell them, and show them the video evidence (our room was teeming with them), all they offer is to switch rooms and then they put someone else in the room with the bedbugs. We were offered no compensation, no complimentary breakfast and were refused a refund.

Really bad experience there... First the bed sheets were to small to fit to the mattress, and then, I woke up during the night covered with bed bug bite buttons all over my harms! I told the reception the problem, they didn't react a lot, they just give us an another bedroom. I think it's better to avoid this place until they disinfect the rooms from this insects.

Great staff, amazing location, but I got bed bugs...

this hostel is perfectly located for berlin's most interesting hoods, kreuzberg and friedrichshain. price is also very good. however, i had a bad experience at this hostel, because of bedbugs in the pillow. my skin is still burning two days after that poor night's sleep. i have complained and the girl at reception gave me a free brekkie and changed me into another room, but no refund was given. please consider that this hostel requests 2.20 euro EXTRA for bedsheets. people obviously won't pay, then will use sleeping bags directly on the mattrass, and this lets the door open for bedbugs! just add those 2.20 € to the price and make the bedsheets use mandatory, ffs!!! i feel this is really bad, given that this hostel seems to care about customer satisfaction. i think the basics are all wrong at this place: the beds are not comfy (and this independently from the bedbugs), wifi is quite poor, and brekkie is terrible too. my experience is of a mixed bag here: some good, but some really really bad too. will not come back.

The hostel was barely passable. In our case we found bed bugs there, several of them. And the hostel did not give us any solution. Furthermore, they blamed us for brining them to the hostel, questioning our own hygiene. Service left very much to desire. Wouldnt recommend going in summer at all because there us absolutely no ventilation amd heat is unbearable.

Found several bed bugs in our room, and when we told the front desk about the situation, we were accused of having brought the bedbugs to the room. Very disappointed.

May 2017: Returned home covered in bed bug bites.

Room was clean but I saw alive bedbug on the bed. Checked out immediately and got full refund.

Bedbugs. Big ones. And the receptionists reaction when he was told about them: basically none whatsoever. Not possible to change to another room, no compensation, no nothing. We left immediately and didn't look back. Later we heard that four other rooms had the same situation. This place needs a lot of bug poison.

The staff at the desk here were Five star. The fact that our shared dorm was full of bed bugs drops it down to 1 star.

Hostel itself is nice, but my mattress was full of bedbugs :(
