a&o Hostel Firenze Campo di Marte

it was a very quiet hostel, definitely not a social or party hostel. friends of mine in other rooms had difficulties getting ready to go out because most of their neighbors were in bed before 10. but the bar had cheap drinks and i appreciated the privacy of the beds. staff were helpful with pairing us together in rooms even though we booked separately. however i do think they had bedbugs because i left with dozens of bright red bites that left a horrible pain/itch afterwards.

The staff was helpful I got bedbugs, i had to wash and sanitize, and pesticide EVERYTHING i own and then stay at a hotel, I requested a refund through the email the kind receptionist gave me, and I have heard nothing in response

I stayed here for two nights, and I developed rashes around both ankles, possibly from dust mites or bed bugs. At first glance the place looks clean, but although bed sheets are provided, the duvet and pillows are extremely dusty. The sheets themselves are also not hotel-quality, so I suspect the mattress may not be very clean either. The floor also gave the impression that it was not cleaned thoroughly. On the second night, I ended up sleeping on top of the duvet instead, but there were also many mosquitoes and I got bitten repeatedly. The place may not seem bad at first glance, but I would advise future guests to be careful.

The pool table and the location was good I got bitten by a ton of bed bugs on my leg. I’m still scratching today! Some staff were good - some did not even want to be there

Very good hostel, a lot comfier than I had expected (worth noting we were in a private room). The beds were comfy too, which is one of the most unexpected things. If you don't want to eat at their restaurant, you can also cook in the kitchen which is at floor -1. The check-in was quick, however the self-check-in as well as their app didn't work, so we had to wait for a while until they finished checking in a big group that came before us. The location is ok, a but far from the centre, but also not too far (about 30min on foot or less by bus, but busses don't go too often). Don't be mistaken that it's conveniently next to the train station, as intercity trains don't seem to go to that station except once or twice a day (early morning and late evening). But you can also take a train to the main station (at the edge of the center), which I think goes every 30-60 min, and it's a short ride (c. 3min). The self-check-in didn't work, and I think they had bed bugs because I woke up with red bites on my body, but only 2. If it hadn't been for that, I would have given them 10/10. It's not the type of hostel where you can meet new people and hang out, but a great stay if travelling with friends, family or for work
