I contacted this facility 3 times in advance to let them know I’m very allergic to bed bugs... asking if that would be a problem as I was buying a non-refundable stay. I was assured that they had taken care of any problem and would fully refund my money if any bed bugs were found. After I arrived, while preparing to sleep, I found a bed bug. I didn't wait to find more. There is never only one bug. I quickly texted and called the number I had for the desk clerk but there was no answer as it was quite late. I left a message that I'd be back to get the refund in the morning. In the morning, I was told at the desk that I had to call the manager in LA. The woman named Michael (or something like that) could not have been more difficult if she tried. She accused me of conveniently planting the bug. Of bringing it with me so I could pretend I had found it For what purpose??!! I would have been more than happy to have stayed at PodShare... but without bugs in my bed. Their bugs forced me to spend valuable vacation time finding another place to stay! Michael said no one that worked there would have ever said I could get a refund...but they most certainly did. I'm 66 years old and certainly don't have any need to lie. If you stay here, you must know....you will NOT be helped and bed bugs are a likelihood. The hostel apparently cannot control them even though they say they have. You'll be disrespectfully mistreated. I didn't sleep here because I am very allergic to bed bugs. I was told 3 times that there would be no bugs or they would refund what I had paid in full. They did not honor what I was told in advance. They did not refund one penny of my week-long stay. I was also treated extremely poorly by management in LA. She said she was going to tell 'the management team' to give me a refund and to call me. I have that recorded on my phone. I have not received a call or a refund. I booked through Booking.

They exterminated for bed bugs while the hostel was occupied using heat treatment causing temperatures of over 100 degrees. No air conditioning, quite inhabitable. They apparently do this quite frequently and the Owner seems to not care about the inconvenience to her guests. If you speak up or address it with her you get kicked out.

Pretty much everything I disliked, and I am easy to please. These guys try to be so hip, but it really is just a bunch of mid-level pressboard bunk-bed arrangements in not-quite-up-to-the-ceiling walled rooms offering no privacy or shelter from noise/smell/heat. The kitchen area is pretty bad, messy as heck, the bathroom, while clean, had a runny toilet. To the hip dudes running the place - you're wasting 100 of gallons per day. Good job! The dude at the front desk sure is a judgy prick, get over yourself, you're a night guy at the crapiest hotel in town. Tried to get me to move a block over to smoke cigs, I was smoking on a freaking sidewalk, public space. Nasty habit, I get it, but the word hospitality, which is your industry, has a freaking meaning. I was seriously unimpressed with him. The beds, while surprisingly comfy to lie on, were poorly appointed. A flat sheet and, I don't know, a 5 dollar throw that was the blanket???? The pillows, well, whatever, hotel pillows, but still these were a notch worse. Whatever. But what really got me? It was dirty. As soon as I looked at it, I had one thought - bed bugs. And yes, I itch a bit today. Sheets had stains on them, I prefer to think it was food spills that didn't come out. Or, they were...nope, not going there. I paid $80, about $30 less than the cheapest budget hotel. I cheaped out for an experience, thinking Japanese Pods. Nope, not even close. Dirty, it smelled something nasty, the kitchen is open style and the walls won't block out the smells from there. Or the bathroom next door. Oh yeah 20 bunks, 2 toilets, I pity the fool who has a small bladder. My room had four pods, a.k.a. to everyone in the US as two side by side bunk-beds cut out of pressboard, offering no privacy or style whatsoever. The top bunk was quite a bit of a climb, it was like seven feet up. The girl that got it left, she said nope, not worth it. This was ridiculously bad. .
