DO NOT STAY HERE!!! (Preview: reports of bedbugs, pest issues, zero privacy, and some of the most hostile, the most absurd management I’ve ever dealt with.) This was my personal experience. My biggest issue was how they handled a simple package delivery. Before checkout, I specifically asked the front desk if it would be okay that my package was arriving late. They told me it was fine. No mention of any fee, no policy, nothing in writing anywhere. Then when I came back to pick it up (less than an hour after it had been delivered and already brought inside), I was suddenly told there’s a $15 fee for receiving packages after checkout. Again, this was never disclosed anywhere. Not verbally, not in their rules, and not in any emails I received. From there it turned into what felt like a very strange power trip. I was told the front desk attendant wasn't "on shift" even though they had clearly already handled the package. I was then told multiple times to come back the next day at 10 AM to get something that was already sitting inside. No flexibility, no logic, just repeated refusal. I even offered to just pay the $15 and leave. They still said no and kept insisting I come back the next day. At that point, it felt like they were more interested in being difficult than actually helping. Only after I said I’d escalate things did they suddenly change their tone and say they would come out as a “favor” if I paid the fee. The fact that they framed giving me my own package as a favor tells you everything you need to know about how this place operates. And that’s not all. Since this is a "co-living space," there are long-term residents here, including a couple that, in my opinion, makes the environment extremely uncomfortable and completely kills the vibe this place presents in its photos. Another guest showed me what he said were bedbugs in his bed after waking up covered in bites. He mentioned he received a refund, but from what I observed, there didn’t seem to be much urgency or concern from management in response. There also appeared to be signs of pest issues during my stay. There’s: No air conditioning No curtains on the pods Cameras in the sleeping area, which felt incredibly invasive given everything else going on This place is poorly managed, unpleasant to deal with, and, based on my experience, a complete nightmare. Between the lack of hospitality, the enforcement of non-existent rules that are made up on the spot, and the uncomfortable environment, this was a terrible stay. Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else.

I had found PodShare on Coliving.com. It was advertised as a long-term coliving place for digital nomads + remote workers. Now as someone who travels frequently, I've lived in many coliving / communal houses for digital nomads, and I was *super* uncomfortable upon first getting there, that I ended up cancelling my reservation that was originally for 31 nights after two nights. Firstly, I just wanna say that the manager there was super kind and always helpful. I didn't interact with him too much but he checked in a few times to see if everything was good so I appreciated the effort there. Unfortunately, the place itself did not meet the level/standards I hold for communal spaces (maybe I'm just picky!) The dishes were not cleaned thoroughly when I went to use some for my meals, and the drawers and some appliances had an interesting, oily grime to the touch. The pod itself was very comfortable, but I do wish they had curtains or a sliding door. It was nice that they had lockers, and I was fortunate to have been in the small room of 4 pods, instead of the big room. However there are only two bathrooms for I think 18 guests. Lastly, one of the guys from the big room walked past me saying "be careful, they have bed bugs here" and I was just absolutely mortified. I went to check my bed and didn't find any, but I did notice there was a slimey substance along the perimeter of my pod. I couldn't tell if it was just hot glue, or leak, or a mold, but seeing that was the last straw. The air was all a bit musty so I was coughing a lot, and they don't have AC. Other than that, it IS in a really great location, lots of restaurants/cafes near by and the waterfront is super close walking distance. It's a fine place if you're looking for a hostel for a couple days, but I couldn't imagine living there long term frankly as it didn't feel conducive to a proper remote working environment. They had a small booth with sound proof walls but it was the absolute bare minimum.

Overall, the place is quite clean. Nothing smelled at all and I felt just fine using any of its facilities. The staff were all very friendly too. While I can't say for sure, I believe there might be a bed bug issue. After my stay, I found many small red spots on my arms that I think might be from bed bugs or fleas. Other reviews I read online also seemed to be complaining about this issue, but I disregarded them initially as I couldn't find any around my bed. Again, I might be completely in the wrong here, but I'm just going off what I observed and from other reviews. The pods/beds are clean and comfy, but the complete lack of privacy was a little uncomfortable. I really wish they added sliding doors to each pod so that in bed, people can be completely shut off from the rest of the facility. Otherwise, not much to complain. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and I had no issues with them at all. The other people who stayed with me were also very nice, they never touched any of my stuff and they were never a huge concern for me. Overall, this should only be an option for people who are absolutely comfortable with spending time together with complete strangers in a shared area with zero privacy. That means trusting they won't steal your things and accepting the lack of privacy besides using the restroom/showers. Hope this helped!

BED BUGS! I stayed at this place (Dec 29-30 2024) Stayed for 1 night on my way back from Mexico. While the location is ideal because it's close to Little Italy, this hostel has bed bugs! I would not recommend anyone to stay here. Sadly, they (Alan) didnt believe me when I brought it to their attention and claimed that I might have brought the bed bugs from Mexico and that my bites didnt look like bed bug bites and that it takes "a few days to see it". (Truth is, even mexico hostel was a lot cleaner and bed bugs free.) Later that night, I found a bed bug after it had bit me and captured it into a container as proof. I woke Adam (a different worker at the hostel) and showed him my bites over my body and the bed bug I found. Hoping that Adam would believe me. He was helpful in moving me to a different bed. I left the bed bug I found at the front desk with a note and hope they addressed it as I had a morning flight and left at 4am. (Wished I had taken a photo but I was delirious from the lack of sleep all night) Stay here at your own risk. I should've trusted the reviews before booking).

I stayed here for one night last August of 2023 and it was a great experience. Unfortunately my last stay here this week wasn’t so great. The kitchen and bathrooms were dirty with the trash overflowing. The sleeping area really smelled and you could tell some people had been living there a long time and had all their possessions stuffed into their living space I can deal with stink. I’ve spent time in plenty of hostels. I just feel like it should be a short term place and not a place for people to live long term. Because then you get those quality of life issues like hoarding l, body odor and bed bugs. My last night there I woke up with four bed bug bites on my arm and hand. One on my foot as well. I’ve included pictures. Great location but until they get rid of the bed bugs and long term residents I’m never staying there again. To me it’s a hostel, not a homeless shelter.

So I’ve read through quite a few of these reviews, and it seems like there are a lot of people who book this hostel expecting it to be like a hotel. A hostel is not a hotel. Podshare does not have curtains for the beds, and I was uncomfortable with that, but everything else was terrific. Even though there were quite a few guests staying, I didn’t have any problems with the 2 bathrooms they had downstairs. I was able to get up around 7 and take a nice shower and dry my hair without being in anyone’s way. One of the bathrooms is located in the same room that the beds for ease of having to get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, and the other one was located off of the common area. It was considerate and used the common area one when showering in the morning, so as not to wake anybody else up and hat’s the general vibe there is people were pretty considerate of each other. I did see a couple people left their cubby light on when they should’ve turned it out while they weren’t there. Which curtains would’ve helped. There was community food that was left from other guests and I made breakfast home fries for everybody with what was there. Life is what you make it. Erica was super friendly and helpful and a pleasure to sit and talk to in the morning. If you’re not ready for an organic homegrown community experience, go stay at the Hilton. This is a really easy-going experience and you have great opportunities to meet interesting people from all over the world. I found everyone there to be extremely respectful. Oh, and by the way… narry, a SINGLE bedbug. So my walkaway review is: I had a pleasant day with nice people, would’ve preferred to have curtain or privacy screen to block the light her mother pods stay, I didn’t have a problem with the heat, although I was a little chilly at night and could’ve used an extra blanket.

I contacted this facility 3 times in advance to let them know I’m very allergic to bed bugs... asking if that would be a problem as I was buying a non-refundable stay. I was assured that they had taken care of any problem and would fully refund my money if any bed bugs were found. After I arrived, while preparing to sleep, I found a bed bug. I didn't wait to find more. There is never only one bug. I quickly texted and called the number I had for the desk clerk but there was no answer as it was quite late. I left a message that I'd be back to get the refund in the morning. In the morning, I was told at the desk that I had to call the manager in LA. The woman named Michael (or something like that) could not have been more difficult if she tried. She accused me of conveniently planting the bug. Of bringing it with me so I could pretend I had found it For what purpose??!! I would have been more than happy to have stayed at PodShare... but without bugs in my bed. Their bugs forced me to spend valuable vacation time finding another place to stay! Michael said no one that worked there would have ever said I could get a refund...but they most certainly did. I'm 66 years old and certainly don't have any need to lie. If you stay here, you must know....you will NOT be helped and bed bugs are a likelihood. The hostel apparently cannot control them even though they say they have. You'll be disrespectfully mistreated. I didn't sleep here because I am very allergic to bed bugs. I was told 3 times that there would be no bugs or they would refund what I had paid in full. They did not honor what I was told in advance. They did not refund one penny of my week-long stay. I was also treated extremely poorly by management in LA. She said she was going to tell 'the management team' to give me a refund and to call me. I have that recorded on my phone. I have not received a call or a refund. I booked through Booking.

They exterminated for bed bugs while the hostel was occupied using heat treatment causing temperatures of over 100 degrees. No air conditioning, quite inhabitable. They apparently do this quite frequently and the Owner seems to not care about the inconvenience to her guests. If you speak up or address it with her you get kicked out.

Where to start; infested with bed bugs. Heat treatments were performed with 2 days notice telling you that the property will be closed from 12 to 6 for 2 consecutive days in a row. Upon returning at 6:00 pm to find it over 100 degrees inside and completely kiinhabitable due to heat machines, furniture moved all over and no ventilation. The property was fully booked however no one could stay due to conditions. Approaching the Owner with concerns she will kick you out, even if you are prepaid for the month. I have never seen a business exterminate for bugs while with full occupancy and expect guests to live with the inconvenience. Just know that if you book here, these extermination are performed without closing the podshare and you might get 2 days notice, however they do not inform you of the inhabitability. The Owner doesn't think that any of this is a problem 😕. Can't imagine her other locations are any better. Many other nice hostels in the area. You don't need to Subject yourself to this type of environment.

Pretty much everything I disliked, and I am easy to please. These guys try to be so hip, but it really is just a bunch of mid-level pressboard bunk-bed arrangements in not-quite-up-to-the-ceiling walled rooms offering no privacy or shelter from noise/smell/heat. The kitchen area is pretty bad, messy as heck, the bathroom, while clean, had a runny toilet. To the hip dudes running the place - you're wasting 100 of gallons per day. Good job! The dude at the front desk sure is a judgy prick, get over yourself, you're a night guy at the crapiest hotel in town. Tried to get me to move a block over to smoke cigs, I was smoking on a freaking sidewalk, public space. Nasty habit, I get it, but the word hospitality, which is your industry, has a freaking meaning. I was seriously unimpressed with him. The beds, while surprisingly comfy to lie on, were poorly appointed. A flat sheet and, I don't know, a 5 dollar throw that was the blanket???? The pillows, well, whatever, hotel pillows, but still these were a notch worse. Whatever. But what really got me? It was dirty. As soon as I looked at it, I had one thought - bed bugs. And yes, I itch a bit today. Sheets had stains on them, I prefer to think it was food spills that didn't come out. Or, they were...nope, not going there. I paid $80, about $30 less than the cheapest budget hotel. I cheaped out for an experience, thinking Japanese Pods. Nope, not even close. Dirty, it smelled something nasty, the kitchen is open style and the walls won't block out the smells from there. Or the bathroom next door. Oh yeah 20 bunks, 2 toilets, I pity the fool who has a small bladder. My room had four pods, a.k.a. to everyone in the US as two side by side bunk-beds cut out of pressboard, offering no privacy or style whatsoever. The top bunk was quite a bit of a climb, it was like seven feet up. The girl that got it left, she said nope, not worth it. This was ridiculously bad. .
