Urban City Centre Hostel

The good thing is that the place is cheap and isn’t that dirty, however the bathroom could have been cleaned better and there are many reviews on google maps (with pictures and videos) of huge bed bugs, which I didn’t find here on Hostelworld, so be careful. We didn’t find any bugs but those reviews made me very paranoid. The area is very sketchy and a bit far from the main attractions. The staff isn’t super polite but not rude either. Another big problem is that the common room is usually empty

Stayed for one night in a double room with my friend. Room was spacious but the windows were right next to the fire stairs which made it so that the room got almost no sunlight. The hotel is cheap and only a 10min walk away from the centre however the surrrounding area does not feel safe. Also got bedbugs :( But it was still alright for one night as a budget traveller. Would not recommend for long stays though. Kind staff.

One of the receptionists has a bit of an attitude - When we checked in, we asked the receptionist if it would be possible to check our beds because we read recent reviews of bed bugs. She said “you can check yourself”. We also simply asked if we could be put in the same room with our friends and instead of just answering the question and saying “no”, she went on and on about needing more notice. One bathroom for an 8-person room, no fun hostel events. It’s an okay choice for one night max.

At first the place seemed nice even if there was too many stairs to reach to our room. Unfortunately duvets and pillows were dirty and we found out some bed bugs (here are a pic of it). We came back to home with several itchy bites on our bodies. I don't recommend.

We got bed bugs! When we told the staff, they gave us a new room on a different floor and cleaned the room that we were in before. It definitely took away from our experience. The hostel was in a pretty sketchy area, and there were a lot of older men staying in the hostel, which was fine but we didn’t feel the safest as two young women. There was an area to eat and warm up food, and the atmosphere was nice. We are sure that there are still bed bugs in this hostel, so steer clear.

The big problem: BED BUGS and ofc blood stains on the bed sheets. We asked to change rooms and both room had multiple bed bugs. In the morning we asked for a compensation and they denied and also asked me if I had bites.. idk why that info is relevant. No one offer us a solution, the idea of changing rooms was mine when I saw the night guy that didn’t even say sorry about the situation. At the next day when we made the check out, the nice girl of the morning said she could have relocated us that night in another hostel. Sadly the night guy was not aware of this information (or any other solution ideas). We leave the place angry and disappointed.

My most honest opinion: Location is good, pretty close to interest points. Located in an immigrant area (still don’t find that enough reason to say it’s dangerous like other people say). I was bit by bed bugs everywhere

No curtains. Small room. No air con - don’t necessarily expect that a hostel but you want it to be dark; location was SO loud you had to have windows open. Only quiet after 3am. Bugs / bed bugs in room.

The bathroom light was very dim. that way you couldn’t see how dirty it actually was, but I noticed. The were bedbugs in the beds, there was no elevator and I stayed in the 4th floor. The zone wasn’t as nice either, everything around it smelled weird, close transportation and kinda close to the Grand Place so that’s nice. Overall, worst hostel I’ve ever stayed tbh.

We arrived our first night and immediately spotted blood stains on the sheets, strong odor in the hostel, lots of mold on the sink and in the shower. We also spotted bed bugs and left the hostel. The worst part is that we argued to only get a partial refund for 1night (LOL). Horrible experience! Do yourself a favour and do not come here!

Security was good, and the room was clean, especially the toilet and shower. In contrast to what we had read on the reviews, there were no bedbugs whatsoever in our room. The region was a little shady, but withing walking distance of public transport. The noise level was a little loud, the traffic especially. On the site it said that there would be lockers, but there were none. The kitchen had a kettle or two, but the water had not been changed overnight.

This place is full of bed bugs.we are a couple and stayed for 1 night and didn't sleep at all because of bed bugs.we booked a dormitory but both of our beds were with bed bugs and we were bitten all over.we took several pictures and videos of bed bugs during night and send those to hostel management. We have written several emails and contacted the reception staff about this ,but there is no response at all. We would never go back to this place. Overall we had terrible experience.

BED BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot make this up. If I knew this place had a bed bug infestation and I was going to wake up with a million bites on my body, then I would have never booked. I am so scared one crawled into my stuff and my home is going to be infested. Also, there is no option for gendered dorms, probably a cheap move from the owner. It is a very male dominated, and a lot of them are low class and dirty. Bad experience. Please listen to this review. You can try and justify you need somewhere to

BED BUGS. Loud, noisy, drunk and rough people loitering outside 24/7. BED BUGS. Construction work wakes you up at 7am. Bathroom light is dim like a candle. BED BUGS. No hot water. Sink is clogged, all disgusting debris floats up. BED BUGS. No safety rails on bunkbed. No elevator, enjoy walking up 4 flights. Oh yeah, they also have bed bugs. Lots of blood sucking bed bugs. Go sleep on the street but avoid this hell.hole.

Location didn’t feel safe, harassed on multiple occasions. When we walked in there were no other travellers in the lobby, it felt eerily quiet. The man at the counter seemed unenthused and didn't greet us even though we were the only ones there. It didn’t feel like we would be in safe hands if anything were to happen to us. We got to our dorm room and upon arrival we see a figure in the dark sitting up right, eating loudly whilst staring and murmuring at us. Especially for two female travellers, this was disturbing and we had to leave as soon as possible. The man at the counter seemed unbothered when we told him how unsafe we felt just by being there. He didn’t apologise and had no desire to give us any sort of compensation/ refund despite us leaving within 10 minutes. I’ve now seen the number of other bad reviews (posted after I booked the hostel back in September), they mention the unsafe location and unaccommodating staff, as well as an infestation of bed bugs within the hostel?- (thankfully we left before we could examine our sheets for bugs). I have done many solo trips in the past where I’ve stayed in a variety of hostels but none of them have felt this unsafe. I feel grateful to have had my friend there with me this time, however, please don’t make the same mistake as us! I absolutely do not recommend this hostel.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSTEL! We only stayed one night and it turned out that there were bedbugs in my room! I couldn't sleep all night because the bugs were biting me. My skin itched like hell. Later I checked my skin and found 30 bites... The worst part is that we have brought bedbugs into our apartment and now we have to order a fumigation service, which is expensive. Also, the hostel is in an immigrant area, which doesn't look very safe. I wouldn't recommend it for women travelling alone.

Avoid by all costs!!! The price is ridiculous for this!!! The area is very dangerous for women, the hostel smells bad! Our private room smelled like cigarettes, all power outlets are broken, BED FULL OF BED BUGS, floor full of silverfish that will definitely find a place in your bags. Yellow and bloody bed sheets, thin walls, broken toilet, dirty mirrors, walls, floors. We saw the room maid placed the new clean towels and bed sheets on the dirty floor in the hall before cleaning and changing it to other rooms!! We got cheated by another platform reviews, but now we see how other people are disappointed! Unless you want to bring bed bugs to your home and be harassed in this hostel or out in the streets, thats your place!

AVOID!!! We were extremely disappointed! The area is terrible and dangerous, especially in the afternoon. The hostel smells terrible and is very dirty. Our private room 115 was dirty - from the walls to the floor. Every single power outlet is broken, bed sheets bloody and yellow, the toilet bowl sticky mirrors dirty, the water smells like river water, or even worse, impossible to brush your teeth. There was a cigarette smell in our bathroom since we entered. Room full of silverfish bugs on the floor which crowls your bags, shoes - anything you leave on the floor, and bed! The bed is full of bed bugs or fleas - we were itching like crazy whenever sitting on the bed! The walls are thin as paper, neighbors are noisy. We have never been so disappointed by the quality of accommodation - we spent as much as possible time out in the city so we do not need to stay there. Would not even pay for a stay like this! THE WORST STAY EVER!

Stay away from this hostel! In my room, I found bed bugs and I was bitten by them at night. I couldn't sleep at all because my skin was itching like hell. It turned out that I had 30 bites on my body! It shouldn't have happened in any hostel, especially in a city like Brussels. The neighborhood is mostly immigrant and it didn't feel very safe at night. I was with my husband but I wouldn't recommend it for solo female travellers. In the hostel, there is no common kitchen area for guests.

The staff was overall very helpful and kind, except for the owner. He was very hostile twice towards our group. Once for two people sharing a bed (although they had paid their respective beds) and another for being in the common areas (he tried to kick us out because we were waiting for our taxi at 11pm). There were also bed bugs in the beds in several rooms. I would point out positive aspects such as big rooms and clean bathrooms, they speak English, and good location.

BED BUGS! We stayed one night and found ourselves covered in bites the next day. Main reason we cannot recommend this place until the issue is resolved. Also other minor things that might be an issue for some such as no elevator, only steep stairs which can make carrying luggage difficult. Quiet hours weren’t observed in the hallways as people socialized outside our room.

Acordei de madrugada com dores muitos fortes que verifiquei serem picadas de BedBugs. Olhei nas paredes e haviam vários andando. Tentei não fazer barulho pra não acordar as outras pessoas no quarto e só não fui embora na hora que vi porque a vizinhança ao Hostel não parece segura para mulheres. Homens assediando a todo tempo, gente usando drogas à luz do dia... Tive uma reacão alergica forte, cogitei até reserva em outro lugar, mas o desconforto das picadas é tão grande, que ali eu desisti da viagem e resolvi voltar pra casa. Mostrei pra recepcionista as picadas, falei o motivo de estar fazendo check out antes. Entrei em contato pelo booking e a Acomodacão teve a coragem de oferecer apenas 30% de valor do reembolso, dizendo que fui a unica no quarto a reclamar disso. Talvez eu tenha sido a unica a associar as picadas a BedBugs, ou a única sóbria, quem sabe? Alem do trauma, fica o prejuizo financeiro., pois estou gastando com remedios tambem.

Foi um pesadelo ter ficado nesse local. Acordei de madrugada com uma dor muito forte e quando vi, haviam BedBugs andando pela parede saindo do buraco da tomada, e tambem na cama onde eu estava. Tive uma reação alergica muito forte às picadas e isso acabou com minha viagem. Tive que voltar mais cedo pois fiquei com medo de passar mais mal do que já estava e não ter ninguem pra me ajudar. Entrei em contato com o Booking e a acomodação teve o cinismo em dizer que fui a única a reclamar no quarto, sendo que quando fiz o check out, mostrei as mordidas pra recepcionista pra justificar o porquê de estar saindo mais cedo. Deve ser porque eu era uma das poucas sóbrias ali.Dividi espaço com senhores bêbados que além do alcoolismo, se sentiam autorizados a inclusive assediar a gente. A vontade era ir embora de madrugada mesmo, mas sendo mulher sozinha, num bairro mal frequentado, com homens que quando a gente passa, assediam a gente, e pessoas usando drogas luz do dia....Quem arriscaria? Se tiver opçoes de postar fotos e videos, eu vou postar.

Had a very bad experience at this hostel. We found out that the bed contained bed bugs! Hygiene was lacking. The rest of the facilities are alright for what you pay for. But, uncomfortable sleeping experience outweighs the positives.

Bd Maurice Lemmonier outside was much nosier than expected and as a female traveller I felt somewhat akward walking there since there are hardly any women at all in the neighbourhood. It reminded me of when I travelled through the suburbs of Kairo an early evening. The level of cleaning was a disaster. Neither the staircase nor the room was clean. The bathrooms and the reception were clean but we shared our beds with bed bugs and they are the longest lasting memory I'll ever have of a room.

Unfortunately I believe there was a bed bug infestation in my bed. I woke up with bites all over my body. This needs to be addressed, because one can get seriously sick.
