Islanet Hostel & Bar

This is not a hostel. Its a house that you share with the family. The owner was a nice person if you follow the rules and the breakfast really helps. BEDBUG INFESTATION ON ROOM 5 - The owner clearly knows about it but unfortunately she does not know how to get rid of it. First day I woke up with a lot of bites and when I came to booking to check the reviews I saw a lot of people relating the same problem. Second night was even worse after I changed bed. I killed 7 of them in my bed at around 3am because I could not sleep. After I went to another bed I could sleep. The shower is only super cold or super hot. No middle term.

I found a bed bug in my bed, and I told the owner, and she did not believe me. When I said i would like to leave the hostel and asked for a reimbursement, she accused me of lying to get my money back and was very rude. I did not end up staying the night or getting my reimbursement.

Sadly, bed-bugs ruined my stay here. This would otherwise be a decent place for 1 night; the dorm room is small, but otherwise comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, and a small breakfast is included. However, when I reported the bites, and showed the bugs to the manager, she became angry, insisted that there were no bedbugs at the hostel, and told me if I didn't like it I could go someplace else. So I did. For the same price there are much, much better hostels just 20 min away in Puerto Varas- and the town is much safer , too. The dorm room has a bedbug infestation. The on-site manager refuses to acknowledge the problem, even after being shown the live bugs, and gets mad at guests who report this problem. Not acceptable. In addition there is no common area to visit with other guests, and there is no option to leave a backpack with reception before or after the check-in/check-out times. Puerto Montt is not safe to walk after dark, so it is much better to stay in Puerto Varas just 20-min/ $1200 pesos bus ride away.

Bed bugs

Quiero desmentir el comentario de los chicos q decían q había pulgas o chinches en el Hostel. No era cierto, creo q lo hicieron para q les saliera gratis la estancia. Eli, la señora q regenta el Hostel les pidió con mucha educación q les mostraran las picaduras y no mostraron nada, además Eli estuvo predispuesta a subir a la habitación con ellos y q le mostrarán los enormes bichos q decían q habían visto, subió a la habitación y bajo luego con el chico confesando q no había encontrado nada. Hay q ser honesto, no puedes hundir un negocio y faltar a la verdad. Yo fui testigo de q ellos mentían. Eli fue muy correcta en todo momento, ellos no demostraron lo q afirmaban Quiero q quede constancia de ello. El Hostel es viejito eso es verdad, pero está limpio. Eli es una buena mujer q te facilita la estancia en el Hostel. Había q dar un poco de chapa y pintura al hostel
