Unfortunately my friend got bed bugs which was quite unpleasant. But otherwise the hostel seemed nice and had nice shared spaces.

Caution! Bed bugs! Unfortunately, a girl and I both got bed bug bites in Casa Verdi even though we slept in two beds far apart from each other in one room. We also know for sure that it came from Casa Verdi and had the bites diagnosed by a doctor. This was not a big surprise, because the hostel was not very clean. There was a lot of dust in the corners everywhere, especially in the corners of the bathroom and we noticed that the overblankets in the rooms were not washed after they were used by a guest. So unfortunatly i have to say it's no wonder that there are bed bugs. Very sad because the people were very sweet. Addressed that we had bed bugs from the Casa Verdi, I initially got back only an incoherent message with many typos. When I then pointed out the problem again, I was only told that nothing could be done. I was offered neither a refund, nor a partial refund, nor any other final concession. They just told me that it could happen anywhere, which is not true because bed bugs die if you wash bedding properly. The fact that another girl and I had bed bugs in two different beds shows that the place is not clean. The stitches are all over my face, I look like a puffball. It itches and hurts. I also have to disinfect all my luggage. Not cool! I've stayed in many hostels in Europe, I've never had this. I know other people have had bites too. We thought it was mosquitoes bites at first, so a lot of people just weren't aware. But I went to see a doctor and he clearly identified the bites as bed bug bites. So I'm sorry folks, but I advise you to stay away from there.

Casa Verdi fühlt sich eher wie eine kreative WG als wie ein Standard-Hostel an: ein altes Catania-Gebäude mit hohen Decken, Kunst, Büchern, Gitarren, gemütlichen Common Rooms und einer pflanzenvollen Terrasse oder einem Balkon zum Hängenbleiben. Der Hausstil ist informell, warm und basiert auf Teilen statt Hotel-Polish. Die Küche ist eine echte Stärke, mit Kochzeug, Kaffee, Tee, Gewürzen, Basics und manchmal Keksen oder gemeinsamem Essen. Der nahe Markt macht Selbstversorgung leicht, und das Setup kann zu langen Küchentisch-Gesprächen, Gruppendinners, Kuchen, Pizzaabenden oder entspannten Hangouts werden. Die soziale Szene ist meistens relaxed und freundlich statt Party-Hostel-laut. Kleine Konzerte, Get-togethers, englische Impro-Events und Volunteer-City-Tipps geben dem Ort einen gemeinschaftlichen Puls, während die ruhige Straße und geräumige Privatzimmer trotzdem für eine weichere Landung funktionieren können. Saubere Bäder, geräumige Zimmer, Handtücher, mehrere Duschen und hilfsbereite mehrsprachige Volunteers gehören zum Reiz. Granita die Katze und ein Hund verstärken das bewohnte Hausgefühl, aber Tierallergien sollte man hier ernst nehmen.
