- I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience at Europa Melbourne. I was staying there and also doing free accommodation work, cleaning the kitchen during night shifts and helping keep the hostel clean. During my stay, there was a group of male guests who constantly made jokes, insults, inappropriate comments, and behaved in a very disrespectful way toward me. Some of these situations felt clearly homophobic and targeted. When I responded to defend myself and tried not to let them disrespect me, they went to reception and falsely claimed that I was harassing them. Instead of listening fairly to both sides or trying to understand the real situation, management immediately blamed me without giving me a real chance to explain. The manager was extremely rude, cold, and unprofessional. I felt judged, unsupported, and treated unfairly from the beginning. After working for the hostel and helping every night, I expected at least basic respect, but instead I was simply forced to leave. The atmosphere became toxic very quickly, and I felt that staff handled the conflict badly and without fairness. I left feeling humiliated and disappointed. The location is central, but management and the way they handle guests is very poor. I would especially warn LGBTQ+ travelers to be careful, because I did not feel protected or respected there. I would not return and I would not recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a safe and respectful environment.

- Ich musste im Keller Schlafen. Zimmer war soo kalt, kein Fenster zum Lüften. Die Klimaanlage war die ganze Zeit an, konnte man im Zimmer nicht abschalten. Hab in der ersten Nacht Schüttelfrost und Fieber bekommen, konnte fast nicht einschlafen, da es soo kalt war. Am nächsten Tag habe ich an der Rezeption gefragt, ob ich eine zweite Decke haben könnte weil ich mich nicht fit gefühlt habe und es so kalt war- hab keine zweite Decke bekommen!
Central Location I had to sleep in the basement. room was so cold, no window to ventilate. the air conditioning was on all the time, you couldn't turn it off in the room. i got chills and fever the first night, almost couldn't sleep because it was so cold. the next day i asked the reception if i could have a second ceiling because i didn't feel fit and it was so cold - i didn't get a second ceiling!
+ There is a huge and most of the time tidy walk-in fridge. Each bed got their private curtains.
- The kitchen is dirty, people don't clean behind them. There's no ventilation in 10 to 14 beds rooms so it smells extremely bad, the windows can't be opened. The basement rooms are full of mold and smell terrible up to 5 meters away in the hallway. I checked in at 10.30pm, and I woke up sick at 8am. Lucky me I got transferred to a slightly better room for the rest of my week. Easily 1/3 person in this hostel in constantly coughing due to this. Maybe I've been unlucky but most of my showers during the week were not even warm. Avoid this place unless you are extremely young or you like to smoke w..d either in front of the main entrance or on a nice rooftop.

- No one follows the rules. The rules said no party at late night but people just simply ignored it. If you stay downstairs it’s gonna be a horrible night because of the noise from the common room next door.

- Chambres trop petites on se marche dessus et nous sommes entassé dans les chambres, si vous avez la chance d’avoir des chambre à l’étage sinon c’est au sous sol on se croirait dans une prison. tout est fait pour optimiser le rendement c’est un hôtel pour faire de l’argent et pas pour se reposer ou profiter de vacances à melbourne, de plus ils ne m’ont jamais rendu la caution pour la carte de la chambre alors qu’ils sont sensé le faire (20$), je ne recommande pas
The rooftop and location Rooms too small you step on them and we are crammed into the rooms, if you are lucky enough to have rooms upstairs otherwise it is in the basement you would feel like in a prison. everything is done to optimize the yield this is a hotel to make money and not to rest or enjoy a holiday in melbourne, plus they never paid me the deposit for the room card when they are supposed to do it (20$), I don't recommend it

A variety of breakfast options borrowing a blower requires a mortgage on the passport but not necessarily getting my own back because the cashier gave my passport to someone else but did not actively process it and I was leaving Melbourne that day and asked the boss for help only at the last minute.

- The failure to control the selfish behaviour of residents who did not resoect others who were tryng to sleep. And the staff who failed to enforce the noise curfew after 9.30.. Very disappointing and would not recpmmend unless you want to party all night!

- Por lejos fue el peor hostel donde me alojé. Todo estaba completamente sucio, parecía que nadie había limpiado en semanas, realmente asqueroso. Cuando pedí mi refund por las ultimas noches el staff me dijo que no, QUE SABEN QUE ESTA TODO SUCIO pero que no pueden hacer nada jajajaja solo podían darme un voucher PARA VOLVER 😂 Las habitaciones no tienen ventilación y huelen asqueroso, hay cosas tiradas abajo de la cama, las alfombras están sucias, los baños llenos de pelos y completamente sucios
The location By far was the worst hostel I've stayed at. Everything was completely dirty, it looked like no one had cleaned in weeks, really disgusting. When I asked for my refund for the last few nights the staff said no, that they KNOW IT IS ALL Dirty but they can't do anything.

Really lovely hostel, the reception staff are very receptive and friendly. The beds are actually comfier than what I have back at home, with full curtains for privacy which is nice. I did feel that the facilities were a bit low with no outside recreational area (understandable maybe since it is in CBD), but mainly the electric stove was a bit annoying and overly complicated to use. I would come back though as due to the beds, staff and yeah the showers / bathrooms were actually nice and stocked.

+ Bien situé dans le CBD de Melbourne. Idéal si vous venez d’arriver en ville et que vous cherchez un hostel pour séjourner 1-2semaines. La chambre, lit très confortable et chambre rénovée. Rooftop très cool et personnel hyper accueillant, sympa! Sinon j’ai trouvé l’hostel très propre!
- Repenser le système des frigos, c’est vraiment pas hygiénique de poser sa nourriture au sol (même si c’est dans des bin). Installer des rideaux aux fenêtres dans les chambres rénovées (lumière du lampadaire qui éclaire la chambre), des rideaux sont installés au lit mais ça n’est pas suffisant.
Ideal if you are new to the city and looking for a hostel to stay for 1-2 weeks. The room, bed very comfortable and room renovated. Rooftop very cool and staff hyper welcoming, nice! otherwise I found the hostel very clean! rethink the refrigerator system, it is really not hygienic to put food on the floor (even if it is in bin). Install curtains on the windows in renovated rooms (lamp light that illuminates the room), curtains are installed on the bed but that is not enough.
One of the best hostels i've stayed in. The Trivia night was awesome and having privacy curtains make me feel very safe.
