There were bedbugs and when I brought it up they werent very helpful. But I think they took care of it now. I was gone though

Bedbugs. I found a bedbug shell immediately after checking in. I alerted staff and was told a previous guest had brought in bedbugs to the bunk above mine the night before, but the room was fumigated and cleaned. They told me the cleaning staff would strip and wash bedding again just in case so it would be safe for me to sleep there. That was not true as I found three bedbugs in my bed in the morning and developed bites throughout the day. The front desk staff was very kind and allowed me to use their dryer to disinfect my clothes, but the hostel is not equipped to deal with bedbugs.

I really wanted to like this hotel, as it has a great social atmosphere, the facilities are good and the staff is very attentive. However, how they dealt with bedbugs was completely inadequate. When first entering my room after check-in, I noticed a strong insecticide smell in the room. I went to inspect my bed and found a bedbug shell under the covers. I immediately reached out to the reception. I was told a bedbug had been found in the bunk above mine from a previous guest the night before, but the room has been fully cleaned, fumigated and all mattress striped. The cleaning staff told me that they would fumigate the room and wash all beding again which would make the room safe to sleep. Never having dealt with bedbugs before, I agreed and stayed the night assuming all the baygon would kill any reaming bugs. That was not the case. I woke up and immediately found three live bedbugs in my bed. I also developed a few bites later. I allerted the staff again, and they kindly let me use their dryer to heat my clothes to hopefully kill any bugs or eggs. However, the cleaning staff did not start cleaning and stripping the room before I had checked out to leave Sucre later that day, which makes me think the hostel is not well equiped to deal with bedbugs. They had two opportunities to prevent this from happening and failed to properly clean the room or to provide alternative accomodations.

Bedbugs. They weren’t apologetic/sympathetic at all when I raised the issue and denied that they have bed bugs, but after checking the beds they found them. After pushing the staff I got a discount on my laundry as I had to wash clothes which otherwise wouldn’t have needed washing. Shared toilet and shower facilities not great and strong foul smell from the showers.
