Caulaincourt Montmartre by Hiphophostels

Cute hostel but absolutely miserable hot and no ac in room, I also got bit by bedbugs and something bit me in my eyelid while i slept, we had to open the window because the heat is awful. Too far from center and super inconvenient to get ubers after midnight.

- Your luggage either goes on the dusty ground or in bed with you. No hangers or storage for coats/clothes/bags. Luckily did not spot any bed bugs but I was ever so slightly more on edge. - The shower bathroom was moldy and there were a couple of used towels laying around that were not removed/changed during my stay. There was also a pretty poignant and disturbingly unrecognisable sewage smell coming out of there. Better keep the door closed and the window open. Perhaps adding a drain cap could fix this. I was happy I got to shower elsewhere. - Not all toilets have a brush. - There was a much nicer, more spacious and clean bathroom (with toilet, sink and shower) on the ground floor which I used a couple of times. Kind of felt illegal due to the contrast, like 'dorm peasants' aren't supposed to get nice things. Maybe that's just me. :p There could be another such bathroom somewhere if you explore a bit more than I did. It might be more contested though. - The breakfast is carbs/sugar only. No nutritious or more balanced options. Might as well eat elsewhere or bring your own breakfast if you value that sort of thing. All in all it's not so bad, not so great either. No massive shortcomings, some inconveniences and that's about it. You can get by if this is your only non-terrible option. I'm trying out a different place next time.

Would be nice to have different types of coffee for breakfast, since there was only americano.

There was mold in the shower room and condensation on the wall in the toilet. I would say it needs to be fixed. Too much humidity. Other than that it was clean.

Very small bedroom. Mold in the room and bedroom. No coffee machine, no water for guests

Caulaincourt Montmartre is a nice hostel/hotel for people traveling with a partner or staying for a short time. It was incredibly clean, which was important to me. NO bedbugs! Beds were comfortable and women's hostel room is kept quite dark, preventing early morning light from disturbing sleep. Staff were helpful. The breakfast is a basic french breakfast. The croissant was amazing! There is only one outlet area in the women's dorm and there are no lockers in the room.
