West Side YMCA

A localização do hostel é realmente muito boa, perto de tudo e muito próxima da estação Columbus Circle. Honestamente, esse foi o único ponto positivo da nossa estadia. O restante da experiência foi extremamente decepcionante e confirmou exatamente o que muitas outras avaliações já relatam sobre esse lugar. O quarto em que ficamos tinha insetos e baratas. Não conseguimos confirmar se eram bedbugs, mas havia insetos na cama/quarto e também vimos baratas, o que tornou a estadia extremamente desconfortável e preocupante. Quando fomos reclamar, a única solução oferecida foi nos colocar em um quarto ainda pior do que o anterior, porque o hostel estava lotado e eles disseram que não tinham outra opção disponível. Nós havíamos reservado um quarto com cama de casal, mas fomos colocados em um quarto com beliche. Além disso, apenas disseram para voltarmos no dia seguinte e tentar falar novamente com a recepção para ver se talvez surgisse disponibilidade de um quarto melhor. Em nenhum momento ofereceram algum tipo de compensação, suporte adequado ou preocupação real com a situação. Ficamos completamente desamparados. Outro ponto negativo foi o atendimento inconsistente. A funcionária com quem inicialmente reclamamos até tentou ser solícita, mas o hostel aparenta ter uma rotatividade muito alta de funcionários e claramente não existe comunicação entre eles. Cada atendente dava uma informação diferente e ninguém parecia saber o que o outro havia combinado conosco. Também tivemos uma experiência muito ruim no locker/bagagem, onde uma das atendentes foi extremamente grossa e antipática. Os quartos são muito pequenos, as camas desconfortáveis, os banheiros bastante sujos e, no geral, a limpeza do hostel deixa muito a desejar. No fim, só vale a pena pela localização. Fora isso, tivemos apenas problemas e desconfortos durante a estadia.

This place has bedbugs, you can see the red spots on the bedding and Booking.com is refusing to give a refund. I was in the room for 15 minutes, when I saw the spots on the bedding I immediately went downstairs and said I wanted a refund. They told me to contact Booking.com. Booking.com told me to email YMCA which I did, and they offered another room. If one room has bedbugs they all do. I will not stay in another room. I would like a refund since I had to stay at another hotel.

Unfortunately, there were cockroaches and bedbugs in the room- we have photos. This place needs to be thoroughly cleaned.

Séjour très décevant – à éviter J’ai séjourné une seule nuit au YMCA de New York (du 12 au 17 avril – je suis finalement parti dès le 13) en raison de l’état de saleté inacceptable. La chambre n’avait manifestement pas été nettoyée : des chaussettes sales traînaient, le sol collait, des restes alimentaires étaient collés au mur, et j’ai constaté la présence de punaises de lit. Les douches et toilettes communes étaient également très sales. Je n’ai pas pu obtenir de remboursement, ni de la part de l’établissement, ni via Govoyages. Très mauvaise expérience, je déconseille fortement.

Request for Refund Due to Unsatisfactory Accommodation Dear Booking.com Customer Service, My name is Dmitrii, and I am writing regarding my reservation made through your platform for the hotel West Side YMCA Unfortunately, I was forced to leave the hotel within an hour of check-in due to extremely unsatisfactory accommodation conditions, unprofessional behavior from the staff, and safety concerns. Issues I encountered: 1. The presence of insects (bed bugs) in the room. This caused an allergic reaction, making it impossible for me to stay. 2. Dirty bed linens. The sheets had visible stains and appeared to be unwashed, which is unacceptable by any standard of hygiene. 3. A strong and unpleasant smell of cleaning chemicals. The odor was so overwhelming that staying in the room was unbearable. 4. Room size and condition. The room was significantly smaller than described on your website and highly uncomfortable. Additionally, it was excessively noisy. 5. Broken door. The door to the room was damaged and could not close properly, posing a safety risk. 6. Staff issues. The front desk staff were extremely unprofessional and disrespectful, displaying arrogant behavior. To make matters worse, this incident occurred on Christmas Eve, completely ruining the holiday for me. Instead of celebrating, I had to urgently search for another hotel, incurring additional expenses and experiencing considerable stress. Given these circumstances, I request a full refund for the booking, as the accommodation, as well as the quality, safety, and cleanliness of the services provided, were far below the advertised standards. The bed bugs and springy mattresses

Había chinches en la cama. Tenemos picaduras en brazos, cuello, cara y piernas Deberían desinfectar la habitación. Las camas son super incómodas. La habitación muy ruidosa. Daba a un patio interior y se oía todo el rato unos aparatos de refrigeración. Los baños son solo 3 duchas/3 retretes para toda la planta. No hay ningún servicio extra para poder tomar algo que no sea una bebida fría y unas patatas fritas. Si quieres desayunar/comer/cenar tienes que salir fuera. Nueva York es caro pero pagar más de 500€ por ese cuarto no merece la pena. Es caro para lo que ofrecen.

i think the bed/blanket had bedbug,, plus there was an odor, like it wasn't washed. the aircon in my room 1029 kept on rattling and woke me up a few times. could offer toiletries like toothbrush, shampoo etc

The rooms are not all that clean and the AC units in the rooms can sometimes not work all that well, but the price is right and the location is great. Also, no bedbugs and the bathrooms are maintained very well. Usually, the people who work at the Y are nice and helpful, so that's also a plus. So, if one isn't too prissy, the Y is a bargain for Manhattan.

Bed bugs causing body bites

Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig. Haare im Bett, kleine Käfer überall im Zimmer. Die Matratzen und Kissen waren in Plastikfolie gepackt. Nachdem ich mit einem der Käfer zur Rezeption kam bekam ich ein neues Zimmer. Ich war mir unsicher ob es Bettwanzen oder kleine Baby-Kakerlaken waren. Von beidem bin ich kein Riesen Fan. Ich wurde ein Stockwerk weiter oben in der 9 dann untergebracht. Hier gab es weniger Käfer, nur einen erwachsene Kakerlake schaute nachts gegen 1 Uhr vorbei, ich habe aber auch mit Licht an geschlafen was Kakerlaken meistens etwas abschreckt. Generell bin ich kein Fan von Unterkünften mit so vielen Tieren im Zimmer. Sauberkeit ließ zu wünschen übrig, in beiden Zimmern waren noch allerlei unterschiedliche Haare im Bett und überall zu finden. Das hat mich aber weit weniger gestört als die Insekten. Toiletten waren ok von der Sauberkeit - geduscht habe ich nicht.

Bonjour, j’ai passé un séjour catastrophique, les punaises de lits m’ont empêché de savourer ce séjour. J’ai été très déçu. Le voyage de ma vie s’est transformé en un véritable cauchemar…. A fuir !!!!

It was a way better upgrade this visit that my last visit. This stay was more comfortable and clean no smell of smoke in hallways and it was quieter.

This place is very cheap but it's basically like a hostel. The rooms are very bare bones but there was no bed bugs and it was clean! The staff was as helpful as they could be but I found them less than enthusiastic. Which is okay I guess but you're living work in one of the greatest cities on the planet I would think you might realize that and pump up your enthusiasm. If I worked in New York City I sure would. I will probably stay here again with my whole family in one of the rooms with two bunk beds. It's a good enough value especially given the high price of hotel rooms currently in New York City.

La habitación tenía chinches, por lo que en cuanto nos dimos cuenta fuimos a avisarles para que nos cambiaran la habitación o nos la limpiaran, sin embargo, cuando llegamos por la tarde al hotel ni siquiera habían pasado a cambiar las sábanas. Hablamos con recepción pero lo único que hicieron fueron darnos unas sábanas nuevas (no limpias ya que tenían pelos) para que las cambiásemos nosotros. Pero obviamente los chinches seguían allí por lo que tuvimos que dormir dos noches con chinches hasta que nos cambiaron de habitación. Los baños compartidos están muy sucios y sólo hay tres duchas y tres baños por cada planta. Las habitaciones están viejas y sucias. El sonido del aire acondicionado hace que sea difícil dormir pero creo que es algo generalizado en NY.

During check in we have to wait for almost 5 mins cause the guy couldn't hear us calling him because he's wearing headphones. Our bed is so itchy there might be a bed bugs on it. No remote for tv and the Bed is very noisy

Great location and nice that it has a gym and pool. Not much of an atmosphere or communal area for mingling. Bedrooms very basic, I had a single room which would of been fine but woke up with a few bug bites so they definitely have a bed bug problem. It wasn't that cheap either considering how basic and outdated it was, not to mention the bed bugs. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

BE WARNED OF THIS PLACE! They placed me in a room right under building generators that loudly buzzed 24/7. Hell to say the least. No rest.YMCA still charged me $464 for 5 days stay of no quiet days or nights under those noisy generators. If youre room number is on a wing of the building ends in 62 - 51, good luck. The shower doors had no opacity or shower curtains for privacy. I woke up with bug bites from the beddings. The staff needs training in hospitality & customer service. The hallways smell of cigarette smoke. I constantly take trips to NYC. Im also an avid Hosteler. I would not recommend this place. This is like a roach motel in the middle of the ritzy part of the West Central Park area.

No recomiendo este lugar debido a que la higiene es muy mala, tanto de habitaciones como baños. Mi pareja y yo teniamos una habitación privada y nos picaron chinches de cama. El baño compartido no estaba mal pero en el baño de mujeres estaba lleno de pelos y parecia muy mal aseado (limpiado muy rápidamente). Por otro lado la ubicación es un 20/10 y el fitness center genial también, pero nada más.

I dont know where to start. The room was a disaster!!!! It felt like they didn’t cleaned it for weeks. The “blanket” were dirty and the beds was in so bad conditions that it would have been more profitable to take the mattress and sleep on the floor. The humidity in the room was like 100% and the air conditioner didn’t work. The shared restrooms was soooo disgusting. I didn’t wanted to open the bag due the risk of having bed bugs. After talking to the staff, they admitted that they don’t put the standard rooms picture on the internet. I was chocked when I heard that. I left the hostel after one night, even though I paid for 5 nights. And upgraded to a much better hotel. This wasn’t worth the 550 dollars I paid for the room. So after having the worst experience ever in a hotel (traveled A LOT), I strongly recommend you to chose another hostel/hotel.
