I stayed at this backpackers recently and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. After my stay, I developed insect bites all over my back, which I strongly suspect were bed bugs. Although the beds appeared clean, the itching was uncomfortable and concerning. Another issue was the bed setup. The electricity charging ports are not conveniently located, so if you’re staying on the top bunk you need to climb up and down just to charge your phone, which was very annoying. On top of that, the top bunk bed was quite noisy. The shared facilities were also a downside. There are only two toilets and showers for a large number of guests (more than 20?), which often resulted in long waiting times. On the positive side, the backpackers is located in a nice area and the garden is quite pretty. However, it is not very convenient to get to, especially from the airport. It’s also a fair walk from the town centre and involves walking uphill, which can be difficult if you’re carrying luggage or not driving.

Unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. To our dismay, we discovered bed bugs during our stay, which not only caused discomfort but also raised health concerns. We urge other travelers to consider alternative accommodations in the area to avoid similar experiences. It’s crucial for a lodging place to ensure cleanliness and safety, and Montacute Bunkhouse fell short on these basic expectations. Please look elsewhere when booking your stay in Hobart.

I do not recommend you stay here. My group all got bed bugs after our stay. Disgusting! The owner was super rude about it and made some fairly racist remarks to different members of our group. Stay away.

TERRIBLE HOSTEL!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE. The owner is extremely rude and racist. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. There were bed bugs and our entire groups rooms were infested with them.

Montacute Boutique Bunkhouse es una casa antigua de Battery Point con pisos crujientes, muebles antiguos, vista desde balcon y una sensacion acogedora de casa compartida. Queda cerca de Salamanca Market, los muelles, cafes, pubs y el waterfront, asi que Hobart se hace facil a pie desde aqui. La cocina grande es una de las partes mas fuertes del lugar: espaciosa, bien equipada y util para cocinar de verdad en vez de sobrevivir con noodles instantaneos. Hay zonas comunes para leer, conversar, calentarse o simplemente sentarse despues de un dia en la ciudad, ademas de extras practicos como te y cafe gratis, estacionamiento, lavanderia, secadores de pelo, cargadores, luces de lectura y bolsas de agua caliente en clima frio. Las camas suelen ser comodas, el agua caliente normalmente es fuerte y la casa puede sentirse hogareña cuando todo cuaja. La atmosfera es mas tranquila y domestica que caos de hostel fiestero, con publico de edades mixtas y mucha gente haciendo lo suyo. Tambien es un hostel imperfecto y muy personal. Los banos pueden ser estrechos, antiguos, limitados e inconsistentemente limpios; el edificio viejo transmite el sonido facilmente; y la presencia del dueno en el lugar puede sentirse intensa o incomoda. Funciona mejor para viajeros que quieren ubicacion, caracter, acceso a cocina y vibra de casa de bajo perfil, no alojamiento boutique pulido ni una gran escena social.

- Los banos pueden ser estrechos, antiguos, limitados o no limpiarse lo suficiente en momentos concurridos.
- La casa antigua cruje y tiene paredes delgadas, asi que quienes duermen ligero deberian traer tapones.
- La privacidad en dormitorios puede ser limitada, con literas superiores sin cortinas en al menos parte del setup.
- El dueno esta muy presente en el lugar, y las interacciones pueden sentirse polarizantes o incomodas.
- Las viajeras pueden querer evaluar cuidadosamente privacidad y limites antes de reservar.
- El Wi-Fi puede ser poco fiable, y el acceso a carga no es ideal para cada litera.
- Algunas habitaciones pueden sentirse frias, pequenas, polvorientas o con poco espacio de almacenamiento.
