Amsterdam Downtown Hotel Canal View

This hostel has bed bugs!! Absolutely do not stay here. My 4 friends and I stayed in room 10 at this hostel for 2 days. One of our friends woke up with over 50 bed bugs bites, all over his body. The sheer amount of bites resulted in him going to a pharmacy for medication. We had to throw out our clothes and disinfect our camping gear. Which obviously massively impacted our time, travel and money. We advised the hostel staff, who were quick to claim they'd refund us, clean the room and confirm with us what bugs were found. After a day and no reply, I sent 2 emails as follow ups. After SIX DAYS, I finally received a response stating that it must've been mosquito bites and wasn't bed bugs. I have no idea if the staff even checked as no one asked specifically what bed my friend was even sleeping in. No one else in a room of 5 got bitten and he was the farthest from the window, so it's definitely isn't mosquitos. Additionally, how was one person bitten 50 times and no one else was bitten? This hostel doesn't care at all about traveller's carrying and transmitting bed bugs. Who knows how many more people stayed there after we did nearly a week ago and contracted bugs or bites. Don't stay here!! Who knows how many rooms have bugs!! I attached the photos as evidence (the first 2 photos are the morning of and the 3rd photo is 5 days later)

This hostel needs to be fumigated immediately. We stayed in a room with 5 beds and at least one of the beds had bed bugs. My friend woke up and was bitten all on his arm and sides. It's very clearly bed bug bites due to the size, itchiness and clustering. The room needs to be cleaned immediately and thoroughly. I wouldn't be surprised if it spread to other rooms. Would not stay again and advised staff of the situation.

The only downside nut a massive one in my opinion is I was full of bites from bed bugs when I got home. I spent two weeks itching it wasn't one bit nice. Other than that you deffinitley get what you pay for, the trams that run from around the corner connect to every part of the city also.

Beaucoup de chose n’allait pas, on se retrouve avec des boutons de punaise de lit, les chambres restent assez étroites, les poussières ne sont pas faites, les douches inondent toutes la salle de bain… la propreté est à revoir…

Hostel with bed bugs. I couldn't sleep at all that night, as the assigned bed had bed bugs. The staff was very unfriendly and empathetic. I was left owing the deposit they ask for Check in. They didn't want to give it back to me. Because my departure was early before Reception arrival time at the hostel. I waited until 8:25 and no one came to reception. Opening hours are from 8:15. I had to leave since I had a flight scheduled. Call and they didn't give me a solution, they cut me off.

They’re are bed bugs. Expensive for “budget hostel” & weird culture.
