Er waren bedwantsen in onze kamer. We hebben veel beten opgelopen en hebben een super oncomfortabele tijd gehad. Hoewel het hotel hier natuurlijk niet direct de veroorzaker voor is, is het wel belangrijk hoe ze ermee omgaan. Ze gaven toe dat ze dit probleem maandelijks hebben in die specifieke kamer en toch plaatsen ze er telkens mensen in. Hierdoor voelden we ons een beetje belazerd. Ze doen alleen aan symptoombestrijding en niet aan het echt definitief weghalen van de bed bugs. Ze gingen de boom omzagen die boven de kamer hing en de muren schilderen als oplossing, hoewel wij meerdere malen aangaven dat dit niet de manier is waarop je deze insecten bestrijdt. We hebben uiteindelijk de tweede nacht een andere kamer gekregen en wel het geld voor de 2 nachten teruggekregen, zij het na flinke discussies met de eigenaren.

On the first night we found bedbugs in all the beds in the dorm. When speaking to the manager the next day, we were not taken seriously at all. We let ourselves be talked into staying (big mistake). According to the manager "we were in the jungle and there were bound to be bugs", as if we'd mistaken some scary spider or cockroach for bedbugs. So the next night I took pictures of the bedbugs as proof. After speaking to the owner the next day, the room was completely fumigated. Sadly this was much too late, as everyone in the dorm was already completely covered in bedbug bites. I have never seen a case this bad, my arms and legs look like a red polkadot pattern. We got an easy verbal apology, but nothing formal and no compensation whatsoever. On another note, after staying for a couple of days, all the people in my dorm were having stomach troubles of one kind or another. I don't know if was the food, the drinks, or something else. However, as the hotel is the only provider of food and drinks (you're not allowed to bring your own) I suspect there's something funky going on in the kitchen or the water filter.

Boatique Hotel and Marina se trouve dans les mangroves et s'atteint en bateau, ce qui donne au lieu une vraie sensation de detachement de Rio Dulce, calme et pleine de nature. Singes hurleurs, oiseaux, iguanes, grenouilles, tortues et gros son de jungle font partie du sejour, avec passerelles en bois, verdure, hamacs, coins tranquilles et une piscine integree au decor. C'est plus detente-et-regarder-la-riviere que party hostel. Le dortoir peut etre un bon rapport qualite-prix, les cabanes privees peuvent sembler stylisees et confortables, et les salles de bain partagees sont souvent propres, spacieuses et amies de l'eau chaude. Il y a tapis de yoga, massages, kayaks ou SUP a louer, aide pour les tours, et sorties bateau autour de Rio Dulce, Livingston, Playa Blanca et spots de riviere proches. Le restaurant compte ici parce que partir signifie utiliser un bateau. La nourriture peut etre fraiche, bonne et a prix raisonnable, avec specials du jour et bons petits-dejeuners, meme si qualite, portions et vitesse ne sont pas toujours constantes. La lancha gratuite programmee vers Rio Dulce est un vrai avantage, mais le setup bateau-only marche mieux pour les voyageurs contents de planifier autour d'horaires fixes. L'atmosphere est paisible, petite echelle et plus polie que bricolage. Ca convient aux amoureux de nature, couples et voyageurs qui veulent un reset jungle avec piscine, acces riviere et un peu de chevauchement social aux repas, pas une scene backpacker bruyante.

- L'acces en bateau est obligatoire, et la lancha gratuite suit des horaires ; les transferts hors horaire peuvent couter en plus.
- Il n'y a pas de cuisine commune, et apporter de la nourriture exterieure peut etre restreint, donc le restaurant peut devenir l'option par defaut.
- La vitesse du restaurant, la qualite de la nourriture, la taille des portions et les prix peuvent etre inegaux.
- La securite en dortoir peut sembler legere : casiers et chambres partagees verrouillables peuvent ne pas etre disponibles.
- Certaines cabanes ont des escaliers raides ou des lits en mezzanine, et les salles de bain partagees peuvent demander une marche sous la pluie ou la nuit.
- Les dortoirs peuvent etre chauds sans clim, et moustiques ou insectes de jungle peuvent poser probleme.
- L'energie sociale solo peut etre calme, surtout quand le dortoir n'est pas plein.
