Very disappointing experience. We found bed bugs in multiple rooms (including visible eggs). Even after being moved several times, the problem was not resolved. Sleeping was nearly impossible, and we had to leave early. For the second night, we did not receive the private room we had booked and paid for, but were placed in a shared dormitory instead in another Hostel. After the stay, we contacted the hostel multiple times but received no response. This is a serious hygiene and health issue and should not happen. I cannot recommend staying here. Unfortunately, I was also unable to leave a review on Hostelworld because the booking was marked as cancelled.

beds too small, 3 beds pilled on each others, kitchen is just a microwave, overall dirty and smelly. if you don't believe me, check the comments on Google maps. have bedbugs bites on my legs, everything is in cash, sketchy feeling. 3 rooms/floors, 12 beds/rooms, 1 (too) small shower/toilets by floors (1 for 36 if the hostel is full). arrived one day later, they cancelled my whole reservation, i had to find something else the day i arrived, do not answer phone or mail, want me to pay everything

Great location, left with bed bug bites. Not the most flexible as you have to pay the terminating balance at the hostel only in cash. The bathrooms are extremely small and there’s only one per floor.

Had a fine time here until the day after my friend and I left and we noticed bites all over our bodies that we are sure were from bed bugs. We had even seen a bug in my friend's bed, and didn't think anything of it at the time (stupid I know but we were having lots of fun in Amsterdam). Some googling later and we were positive the bug we saw was a bed bug. Service was kind and helpful, and amenities were, in my opinion, clean and what you would expect for a hostel. They had even let us change rooms after another guest was disrespectful to my friend's ethnicity, no hassle. But looking at the other reviews, it seems like they have a bed bug problem that they have yet to resolve even after many complaints. Wanted to give a good review but the discomfort of bites and inconvenience of quarantining luggage after traveling is too much to overlook. If they could fix this, it would be the place I'd stay at any time I go to Amsterdam.

Bed bugs biting and parasites in room and bed.. bad service. They don't want Europeans they want only tourists who they can manipulate on prices. Rude owner and hating on Europeans. They kicked me out just because I'm European that's littlelary what he just told me himself.

Our stay was okay. We booked a private room, saw no mold or any bedbugs, which we were weary of after the reviews. The free coffee in the morning was nice and we found the service nice. The room and bathrooms were small but functional and I found the bathroom clean. The mattresses are a quite thin however, there’s only small lockers to store your bags, and really expensive for what you get. Staff seemed nice but I wouldn’t stay as a solo female. Location is perfect however.

This place has bed bugs. The day I checked in I had an asthma attack due to mold and booked another place thus lost 400 euros (as they did not refund as back even though I had an asthma attack 10 minutes after stepping foot at the hostel). We booked a double room which was -unexpectedly- had 3 beds in bunk bed style, no shelves or anything to put our clothes in. The staff were horrifyingly mean, I never seen such customer service. They lied to our faces several times. The manager is not there ever and if you email him you will not get a reply back. I saw 20 bedbugs in 30 minutes I spent in that room and I was traumatized. I got several allergy attacks even though I did not sleep in that hostel just went there to change my clothes. Just in the corner of this hostel there is a beautiful hotel which is almost the same price please go there instead of this overpriced, MOLDY, BEDBUGFULL ridiculous place. THE SHEETS WERE BLOODY, THE MOLD SMELL WAS EVERYWHERE AND THE BATHROOM IS OUT OF A MURDER SCENE. This was the worst room i have stayed in. i cant wonder who gives this place a 5star review as it’s incredibly shady that anyone can like this, yes it is cheap but there are other hostels even hotels in amsterdam that give you the same price without taking your dignity

Don't go there, whatever reason you have, it's not worth it. I wouldn't go there again if it was free and for the money they charge it's truly a joke. The toilet and shower are in a room thats too small to turn around in and covered in mould. The beds are too small for normal-sized people and the mattresses might as well just not be there. According to other reviews they're also full of bedbugs but I was lucky enough not to see these guys. Additionaly, the whole room also stinks and most of the lockers can't be locked due to them being broken and even if they did work they would be too small to fit your luggage, which is definitely necessary in a room of 15 people.

Hostel hell, Bed bugs and scabies! I showed them the bug bits the next day. The front desk guy just shrugged and said it wasn't them. The room for 21 could uncomfortably sleep 12. A bunch of my stuff went missing. I don't even think of stuff I just think that there's literally nowhere to even put your stuff so everyone's backpacks and shoes and everything are just stacked on top of each other and when you're trying to like get out by 10am. It's hard to find your stuff without moving other people's stuff and other people's stuff move their stuff on top of your stuff. I stuff was falling on the girl under me. The person next to me head was half was on the foot of my bed. I treated all my stuff for bed bugs but 2 weeks later now what I thought was a rash has exploded into scabies. Now I have to get body treatment and retreat all of my stuff. No love all bugs

They all of a sudden wanted money to store my bag, unless I wrote a review. This is the review: Nasty bed bugs. The other guests in the room was noicey, turning on lights, chatting, coming and going until 6 in the morning, listening to their phones, pissing outside the toilet and yeah, what have you. Would not go back.

Bad, don’t go here, I have been to plenty of hostels and this was by far the worst. Thought it was worth it for the price at first but definitely was not. Someone threw up on their bed our first night and then got arrested out front. No common area, no kitchen and the bathroom for the entire floor is the size of a small closet. Blood stains on the mattress and bedbug bites in the morning. Decided to cut our losses and leave two nights early as we didn’t want our trip to be ruined by this hostel. When we told the receptionist this it seemed like this was a regular occurrence. Also made us pay in cash so getting a refund was completely out of the picture. Also found this on my bed when i came back from walking around the city. No clue what it is but i hope it was not fecal matter.

I knew this place was not going the best but after the first night I woke up with multiple bug bites on my arm and chest. Not to mention there is one bathroom for a floor of 30+ people and the receptionists are very rude and aggressive.

The worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Filthy, unsanitary conditions — the room was infested with bedbugs. I couldn’t sleep and had to treat my belongings afterwards. The kitchen is a disgrace: everything is dirty, and the only appliance available is a filthy microwave. It’s disgusting to even be in there, let alone cook. The room is completely unfit for guests — no power outlets by the beds, no wardrobe, no shelves, no hooks. You have to keep all your stuff on the floor like in a basement. The bathroom is a nightmare. It’s tiny, the toilet has no seat, and the showerhead is installed directly above the toilet — you literally shower standing over it. At night, it’s unbearably noisy. People are yelling, no one respects quiet hours, and the staff does absolutely nothing about it. Total lack of basic hospitality or respect for guests. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s a health hazard and an embarrassment to the concept of a hostel.

BED BUGS!!! Sept 14 morning found bed bug bites at my back near right shoulder. Sept 15 morning had bites at my left arm and face. They haven't completely recovered after 9 days as showing in the attached photos. The hotel responded to my email saying that "we checked the room with you and we foud nothing." I stayed 3 nights in room 5 on the 3rd floor and moved to the bed next to mine after the Mexican guy left, with the sheets from my original bed because the bunk bed was short and narrow. The staff said the bugs must came from that Mexican guy! In the morning of 15th in the reception room, a young girl was complaining that she had bed bug bites on her body. She was also asked to pay cash after arriving like me and the Mexican guy. Only after booking was confirmed - unrefundable, you would see a line that they only accept cash. The hotel owner - a Moroccan who owns a few hostels in Amsterdam has been trying not paying tax to the government by asking for cash payment. The room rate for Sept 13 and 14 were three times higher than the night of Sept 12. And when I tried to write a review, it showed that I didn't stay there and the hotel must have done something wired on Booking.com and tried not letting me to write a review because they know that the truth would be revealed. There are so many negative reviews about this hostel about bed bugs but none are on Booking.com. My photos attached to Booking.com review were not approved by the website because they said that were not comply with their content guidelines. Booking.com has not done quality control properly. There must be other people who wanted to write true reviews but were unable to.

I stayed in this hostel for two nights and I couldn't imagine the monstrosity of this hostel. The city is beautiful, shame that it had to be ruined by a horrible, smellly hostel. Upon entering the hostel, first thing noticed was the smell and the sheer ugliness of the place. The lobby smelled like trash, alcohol and feces all mixed up. Makes you want to throw up. The staff were somewhat receptive , having to ask multiple times for stuff and getting weird looks when asking. The bathrooms and the room was something I could only imagine in horror films or nightmares. The wall close to my bed had poo stains (i assume from someones diarrhea), and the sheets had some weird brown stains on them... Thankfully I didn't notice any bed bugs but I assume they were there as well. The bathroom is horrid, for a room of 12 people you have one small toilet seat with zero toilet paper and pee stains on the seat, one shower that I didnt even shower in because it smelled so bad, and there is only one dirty bathroom for the whole floor of like 40 people which was absolutely filthy. Please avoid this hostel, even if you just need somewhere to crash you will have a very low quality sleep session with potential diseases, especially because the city is absolutely beautiful in contrast to this filth.

Absolutely disgusting, tiny beds that are uncomfortable and far too small. Clearly not cleaned frequently, especially in bathroom and kitchen. And most importantly BED BUGS EVERYWHERE! Beds, floors, bathrooms, sinks, everywhere! Was given an email to report it which was clearly never read and never received a response.

Was not as clean or comfortable as the pictures portray. We had two people moved from their beds due to bedbugs and those beds, without being thoroughly cleaned, were filled by new people the same day. The staff were not very helpful and the whole place feels a bit off. There is also a deal to leave a good review and they will watch your luggage for free so take any incredible reviews with a grain of salt.

Horrific Experience: Mold, Bed Bugs, and Unresponsive Staff I had an absolutely terrible stay at this hostel. The room was dirty, with mold growing in the corners. To make matters worse, I had a severe bed bug problem that left me with multiple bites on my arms and neck. These bites itched and swelled for two weeks, causing me significant discomfort. Despite informing the staff, there was no apology, no offer of a refund, and no attempt to resolve the issue. The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. When I reported the mold and bed bug infestation, they simply told me to email the manager. I did so, but never received a response. Additionally, the hostel lacked basic amenities such as proper storage, hooks, or lockers for luggage and jackets. To top it off, they charge a 5% fee for card payments unless you withdraw cash, which is unacceptable and feels like a scam. The only positive aspect of this place is its central location, with everything within walking distance. However, I strongly advise against staying here. The risks far outweigh the convenience.

This was by far the worst experience I had in a hostel in my life. First of all the rooms are completely infested with bedbugs ( see attached videos) After waking up in the middle of the first night to the feeling of bites I went in the morning to the reception, the rude guy in the desk denied it was bed bugs becaus he didn’t find them in the bed so he didn’t let me switch rooms After complaining a lot another employee agreed to change my room, I went to sleep and woke up at 2 to bed bugs crawling on my pillow. Decided to just spend the whole night sitting in reception waiting for the night to end. At 4 two drunk guests were fighting outside of the hostel and broke a window so the police and the owner came. The owner who is probably the worst human being I’ve ever met was scamming his way out of refunding me the 150 euros I paid, after two hours of yelling back and forth him repeatedly spewing antisemitism ( i.e” you people always twist words” )he said he will return me the money if i delete the video of the bed bugs. After deleting the video he started arguing. Again and only agreed to return me 60 out of the 150 euros I paid. Luckily this dumbass doesn’t know you can recover deleted videos on iPhone. This place should be closed down and this man arrested. Also this hostel is in general just bad but I won’t get into it.

Horrible service and bed bugs were present. I hope they will improve on cleaning and service. They also need a refurnishing. You can get better everything just a 300 m walk away. Way too expensive.

Don’t stay here. Three boys immediately infront of me were complaining about bed bugs being visible in the sheets! The staff would only move them to a different room, and would not refund their booking. The rooms are dark, and the bathrooms are dirty. There are no private lockers available. The place feels unsafe.

This hotel is the "get what you pay for lesson", the worst places i have stayed overnight. The state of this place is almost inexcusable, please go elsewhere! 1. front desk guy was rude or uninterested most of the time 2. gave me the wrong bed 3. no lockers 4. was so cold even with blankets 5. there was a big fight in the lobby at around midnight, yelling and punching the walls/door 6. very small room for 12 people 7. nasty bathroom, also very small and no towel 8. kind of stank 9. sheets were stained (probably the origin of the smell) 10. had something stolen from my belongings 11. my bed was fine, but there was a lot of talk about bed bugs from other guests 12. had two charges, what i payed in cash and on the card that i used to book the place, plus a sudden upcharge and random "fees" 13. staff threatened to kick you out or call the police over any issue, even small things The one and ONLY plus is the location, but that is not enough to ever get me to go back. You literally cannot pay me to spend another night in this prision

Do not stay here. Its worth an extra 20 euro a night to stay somewhere better Liked · The location was wonderful surrounded by all the great museums. Its close to the RAI and the Centre too with good public transport connections. Disliked · Bed where dirty/stained lucky I didn't have bed bugs as I have seen other reviews list. The staff where passive at best while being rude at other times. They charge 6 euro for the use of a towel and provide no body soap or shampoo in the one bathroom on each floor. (on our floor that was one shower/toilet unit for 21 people. The rooms had no air-conditioning for a 21 person room id consider this unacceptable. They also make you pay in cash or add a mark-up to your booking price if you only want to pay by card. They also force the room key deposit to be paid in cash.

BED BUGS in the bed, horrible staff, worst hostel experience. Came here because I didn't had choice (only hostel free for 6 people). If I could ungo there I would.

Good location. Was not aware that I had to pay with cash, but the reception told me to go down the street to go to an ATM. They also have a deposit of 10 euro for the key, which is refunded if you check out before 10 AM. Thankfully I did not have bedbugs like most of the other reviews. I also sprung for the 4 bed room instead of the 20 bed room, and ended up alone in it. The wifi reached my room fine and I was able to chill for a while. At night though, the place is pretty loud. The doors really slam hard and no one seemed to care so slams resounded through the whole place all night. It was a very restless night and i was woken up before my alarm by the doors. All in all I booked day of and in total spent around 20 euro, so it wasn't completely awful for the price. I declined the breakfast in the morning.

Bedbugs

If I could give them 0 stars I would. There was bed bugs in my bed so they moved me to another room. I asked for a refund in the morning and they refused. I seriously have bites all over my face and body and the owner or manager was extremely rude. Avoid this place at all cost. Oh and yeah I almost missed my plane because they didn’t call the taxi in the morning like they said they would!!!

The worst hostel. Very dirty. Bed bugs. And very expensive for what it offers. Also the service is very bad. I suggest not to come.

The rooms are renovated, with stylish iron-made bunk beds, the owner is lovely and very helpful, but bathroom&kitchen are quite dirty, plus i woke up with bed bug bites all over.

Disgusting, check in is sketchy and they seem to take alot of unnecessary information that no other hostel I've been to has, the "breakfast" is untoasted bread, the washrooms are tiny and disgusting, the whole place is small and clostrophobic. Also have fun burning your clothes and being covered in bedbug bites in the morning, they're everywhere! Whatever you think this place is not worth it. Spend a little more or stay further from the city center.

As bare bones as you can get-- non electronic keys, no amenities (washing machines, nor anything for recreation). Had it only been these characteristics I would've given it a 2.5 for "average" but my bed had BEDBUGS. Read it again, BEDBUGS. When I brought it to the attention of the night attendant he told me his hands were tied until the manager showed up in the morning though he did allow me to switch rooms. Notifying the manager the next day did nada for the situation; he said he could not offer a refund without a doctor's note and pics of the bed bugs and that I was free to leave if uncomfortable. Clean your sheets!

After finding out there were BEDBUGS in this hostel, they would not let me cancel my reservation. I had to book a new room.

Bed bugs all over the beds

CAUTION! Bedbugs in the rooms of the hostel. We had to throw all our clothes away. New clothes 400€. We did not get the money for the overnight stays back. The manager was unkind and said these are not bedbugs. He called us liars. The health department's have been notified.

Bed Bug infested rooms and nobody cares! All my friends already left comments about our nightmare stay at this hostel. I am not gonna repeat what we have experienced. I rahter give you a short explanation about Bed Bugs because i didn t know what consequences these useless bugs can cause. Despite the painful itches and obviously bad looking bites all over your body these bugs can cause mental harm. Because the danger that you carry one of these bugs back home is high if you are not extremely catious. Some of us even went to a laundrette instead of washing their clothes at home. In my case i threw my bag away, undressed on the hallway before i stepped in my appartmend and washed all my clothes immediately at 90 degrees. Because once you carried on of these Bugs in your appartment it is extremely hard to get rid oft them. Most cases of bedbug infestation will require treatment by a pest control expert or exterminator, which will cost thousands of euros. So, please stay away from this hostel. It is not worth it!!!

Do not book a room in this hostel! There are bedbugs all over the place and the management does not care at all! “The property owner needs to take action” As a guest of a hostel, I don’t care who has to take action but tolerating that all of your guest carry bedbugs home and get bitten is not acceptable at all!! This place is so infested, hollywood thinks about using it as a set for the next starship troopers movie. The picture just shows one bed bug but we found plenty and got bitten a lot.

Bedbugs!!! Shame I have to give even one star. We stayed there for a weekend trip without too many expectations. We’ve been to cheap hostels before but we’ve never seen anything like this ever before!! After the first night we found out they had bed bugs! Huge ones too! After telling the staff, they moved us to another room, said they knew about the issue and tried their hardest and that there’s nothing they can do when travelers bring them in. Coming back to the hostel the next night, we’ve found more bugs in the supposedly bug-free room (side note: the rooms, the sheets and the bathrooms were absolutely dirty! Not even swept through!). After refusing to set another foot in this room, they offered to move us into a room with other guests, knowing that we would probably bring bugs into that room as well. They threatened to call the police when we wanted to stay in the lobby for the rest of the night, were more than rude and not even a little helpful. Not once we heard an apology. Worst hostel experience ever, while being the most expensive we had! The foot in the picture is my friends after one day in of their beds...

Watch out for Bedbugs! We had them in two different rooms. It seems that they do not have this issue under control, since a few people commented on bedbugs here on google by now. Breakfast is untoasted but fresh slices of toast with butter, jam, chocolate cream, peanut butter and coffee and tea. That is it and only until 9:30! The rooms are small but this is typical for Amsterdam. You have bunkbeds and a sink, not more. You are not even allowed to quietly drink a few beers in the hostel. The only good thing is the price and the location. The Van Gogh Museum and a supermarket is really close. You can take the bus 397 from the airplane.
