Samba Guesthouse

I stayed in this hostel at the beginning of the walk and it was fine, but on the last day I was here and I got bitten by bedbugs. I had to wash all my clothes and clean all my house, I suffered a lot from swelling of the sting, had to buy medicines. Some beds are neither well ventilated nor well lit. I would only recommend it if they had clearer rules for shoes and backpacks to avoid bed bugs.

A small towel that you can buy for 3 euros. It would be better to rent a bigger towel for that money. and I was attacked by something, most likely bedbugs. Be careful.

I had a fine time until my final night when the woman in the bunk below mine turned on the light and kept making noise.I saw her the next morning and she explained she was attacked by bed bugs. I was skeptical since I was not and we shared the same bedframe. She then showed me photos and a video. There were crawling bugs on the sheets. I apologized to her. The hostel representative heard the whole story.

Only working electrical outlet was inside locker, which just presented a small challenge for turning off my alarm as fast as humanly possible in the morning. I don’t think they have plans to upgrade that situation. Oh well, no biggie! Two more problems that could have happened anywhere, but they happen to have happened here, and all in the same night: 1) somebody else’s alarm went off every ten minutes from about 11:30 pm to about 1:30 am until he or she finally noticed it. I looked around for whose it was—even spoke up and turned on the light—but everybody besides me slept like a log. I did not think that the receptionist could really solve this one so I just buried head under pillow until the noise went away. 2) pillow and bedding were infested with bedbugs or fleas. Pretty sure it was my bed only; roommates woke up completely free from the clusters /lines / zigzags of itchy bites that I found all over me. Luckily home was my next stop where I threw all clothes into hot water and everything else into a warm oven for 90 minutes to kill bugs and eggs.
