Hostel Santa Monaca

Infelizmente encontrei um bed bug em minha cama, o que me fez encurtar minha estadia. Essas questoes sanitárias sao fundamentais na experiência de um mochileiro. infelizmente o Santa Monaca nao passou.

Great place. Wonderful location. Luggage storage for early arrival, lockers in room. Affordable lock, towel, and bike rental. Opera happens everynight next door from 9pm to 10:30pm, very beautiful. No bedbugs, cleanliness could be greatly improved. They give you a clean sheet to put over bed that already has a fitted sheet on it; You are expected to lay on top of the sheet they give you. The fitted sheet under your sheet is not washed between guests. I was very surprised by this &expected more.

The hostel has bedbugs! I’m full of bites! Be careful. The bathroom is super far from the room, during the night you have to walk a lot and climb the stairs. Is super cheap but I don’t recommend.

Overall a good hostel for the price. Location was great, not in a touristy area so a chiller feel. Was definitely confusing getting to my room but once I figured it out it was fine lol. Bathroom situation wasn’t the best but not the worst, and laundry in house was nice. I did get bit about 20 times throughout the night by something, I didn’t see any bedbugs but I did see mosquitos so hopefully that was the culprit. Ac in room which was good

Not at all recommended, they have bed bugs, I woke up with 6 bites, on my arms, neck and even my face. The only good thing is its location.

Horrible experience. I was bitten by bedbugs, and when we told the person at reception, they asked if we had brought them. DO NOT STAY HERE, MY BED WAS FULL OF BUGS.

Got bed bugs. Staff did not seem to care. It was so hot. Vibes are atrocious. A couple of fans would make a world of difference. Do not stay here.

Great location - enjoyed hearing the opera next door & near a cool square of cafe/restaurant/bars. On the last night my sheet & cover slide off in my sleep and I found 6 large bed bugs when I woke up in my bed 😀. When I told the staff at check out the lady didn’t acknowledge it at all. Bathrooms also had no dry area/cubby to put stuff. No atmosphere. The 3 am curfew was not ideal either. Wouldn’t recommend.

Got bedbugs here. I was given a different bed, and a free wash, but it was nevertheless annoying

There where bedbugs in my bed and because the desk closes at night I couldn’t do anything about it, then in the morning they cleaned the whole room and change my bed

BED BUG ALERT !!! We stayed at this hostel after they insisted that bed bugs were not a problem. Not impressive first impression, definetly one of the least glamorous hostels I've stayed in. I was in a 10 bed room, however, to my surprise, I woke up to an 11th roommate... IN MY BED. He scurried past my face and greeted me when I went to take my sheets off in the morning. Even worse, FRONT DESK... RUDE. The hostel staff did not care and instead gaslit us telling us it was probably a mosquito... the remainder of the day was anxiety inducing and caused a lot of chaos. Would give this hostel 0 stars if I could. DO NOT STAY HERE.

visited in june. you'd thing being in a monastery would bring this hostel some character, but no, somehow they managed to suck the life out of this place. my low rating s comes from poor customer service- workers seemed disinterested and were unhelpful. It also comes from the fact i believe there were bed bugs, itchy and covered in bites when we were there. gave two stars though as was quite cheap for the city. -- ask about city tax

the cleanliness of the place was questionable, but the worst was the guy at the reception at 5am in the morning during our checkout who seemed it fit to scream at us and throw tantrums at us. the whole experience was ruined by the behaviour of this man. would not recommend anyone to book this as some beds also had bedbug issues all through out the hostel. not to forget, the rooms were so poorly ventilated that there was bad odour in the room all day.

bed bug alert! the property is super basic, huge & complex architecture, with too few washrooms, especially for men & more so, if you are in 1st floor, then just 1 set of showers/WC at corner most place for almost 10 rooms, each with 6-8 ppl. nothing special about the hostel, except a mini market next door which sells pre cooked at extraordinary prices. but the worst part was the DED BUGS - the one nightmare of every traveller & sadly, the only thing they could do was fresh sheets & new room.

The location of this hostel is great and the fact you could hear the opera next door was cool too. Staff were nice and facilities were alright. Saw some reviews that some of the larger rooms may have bed bugs though and me and the friends I met staying there have since noticed bite marks on us. Can’t say for definite that it was from there but there seem to be a fair few reports of it, especially in the larger rooms.

Me and a friend were in the 10 bed female dorm. In general, the staff was nice and friendly. The kitchen was well equipped and relatively clean. The location was very good and central, everything important was nearby. BUT my friend was bitten by BED BUGS and has bites all over her body!! I was lucky and otherwise the hostel was clean, but that's just disgusting and they need to take care of it.

My room was infested with bedbugs / ma chambre était infestée avec des punaises de lit / mi habitación tenía chinches de cama I spent 3 nights in this hostel and I had the worst experience ever lived in a hostel. After my second night I was biten everywhere and I asked what about it in the reception. They know about it and they suggested to change my room and to give me a coin for the washing machine. However I was already bitten and my things were infested... Anyway I spent my last night in the hostel cleaning my clothes and drying them until 1am and I didn't sleep well in the other room because I was quite nervous. The last day, when I leave the hostel, I realized my bag had bedbugs.... Briefly, it was the worst day in Italy, I spent my last day in Italy in a laundry cleaning everything before coming back home. The hostel is pretty basic (there's just a common kitchen and tables, there's no a cosy space to talk or relax), though the workers are kind... P.S : I know this is traveller's issue too because they bring those things but they most me more proactive concerning this problem

Es gab einen Bettwanzen Vorfall über den wir netterweise von einer anderen Reisenden informiert wurden, daraufhin wollten wir keine Nacht im Hostel verbringen. Unser Geld haben wir nicht zurückbekommen und es ist nur zu hoffen, dass gegen die Wanzen etwas unternommen wird.

After looking at the reviews I was hesitant visiting this place but after finally experiencing it first hand I can say this hostel is amazing for the price. Front lady was super nice on arrival and the whole hostel was really enjoyable. No bed bugs were found, we stayed in the Pazzi room. Regular cleaning was also seen with toilets being cleaned everyday and cleaners coming into the room to collect rubbish every so often. Overall very happy

Friend got bed bugs when we stayed here in June. It was our first hostel ever so not a very good impression.

Our room had bed bugs, when we spoke to the staff they didn't seem too bothered. They did offer to change our room and do our washing but the damage was already done.. Otherwise the kitchen and common area were nice. Bathrooms were good. One staff member was very friendly and helpful while the next day it took us an hour to rent a bike. I have mixed feelings about this place 🤷

Amazing location, with great transport and short walks to the center. Had no bedbugs but some people we knew in the hostel had some. Not the best atmosphere but smoking areas are good to chat to people in. One shower per 20 bed but communal ones too. Very very good for the price paid.

Don’t stay here to be honest. Me and my 4 other mates all got bed bugs really bad. Not a great atmosphere, staff were okay but did not help us when we told them we had bed bugs.

I GOT BED BUGS HERE. When we arrived the staff were rude and dismissive. We got to our room and all seemed okay, however I woke up the next morning covered from head to toe in Bed Bug Bites (incredibly itchy and gross). I had no other option but to stay for the remaining night. When I alerted staff, they did not care whatsoever. They didn’t offer me any compensation or care for the fact my bed had bed bugs. My friend got bed bugs on our 3rd night and they gave us money to clean our clothes only because we said it was the least we deserved. Didn’t get a refund for the next night where we slept in the same room. The bathroom didn’t have toilet seats except one, and after showering there’s no where to change except in the wet shower. Also no paper towels to dry hands after washing hands. You didn’t have to unlock anything as the front door was unlocked so I felt like anyone could just walk in but the bedrooms wer

one of cleanest hostels I've stayed. I've read in previous reviews there may have bedbugs or there was cleaniness issue but it was spotless when I showed up. Social atmosphere a little lacking but that's more due to the people present then the building itself.

I don't recommend this hostel for anyone. The room I stayed in was like a prison, there was no space between the beds, it's super dark even with the lights on. I couldn't move or take things easily. The room smelled musty, the beds weren't clean and I also got BED BUGS bites all over my body, If I could I really would show you in pictures. I believe they just want to make profit, and don't care about cleanliness, not valuing the guest's well-being and money.

There was opera on until 11:30 at night which made it difficult to get an early sleep but it did sound good, the kitchen was big but didn’t have any decent facilities, there isn’t an age limit so there are some children. The bathrooms don’t feel very clean despite being cleaned everyday so definitely bring flip flops. There are lockers in the room but not big enough to fit a large backpack. We found bed bugs on our bed a couple days after being there as my partner had lots of bites. They changed our rooms and let us wash our clothes for free and the man was very friendly about it all however we weren’t able to get any money back which was frustrating as it wasn’t sanitary considering i have read other reviews about bed bugs. Overall it is okay for a few nights but for the price it cost would rather stay else where.

So let me start off by saying I actually thought the hostel itself was great- the staff were nice and the room was nice and I met some really lovely people but there are some major downsides to my stay first being that o got HEADLICE when staying here!!! Also I was covered in bed bug bites so I'm really unhappy!! This shows they clearly havent been washing their bedding correctly and is actually really disgusting!!!! Wish I could give 0 stars!!

Stayed here and was bitten by bugs (bed bugs, fleas?) and have an excruciatingly itchy rash /bites all over my right ankle and part of my calf. I know it's from one of the hostel blankets because I didn't use it 2 nights and got the bites when I started using it. Don't go here if you don't want to risk it!
