Breakfast was really good in a really good setting. I think they include the first night's breakfast but not all nights. The rooftop is really nice. Things I did not like: This review is only for the private rooms. I can't comment for the dorms. There were so many things to not like! 1. The area is really really dangerous. I am sorry that the hotel can't do much about this but this is a serious problem. 2. The room is really basic. For the same price, you can get a better place in a better neighborhood. 3. Sometimes, the staff and owner are not professional. One day, they just announced that they can't serve breakfast on time because everyone got too drunk for the owner's birthday the previous night. 4. The towels they provided were literally rags. They are like the ones I use to clean my car. They were tattered and full of holes and looked like it was a piece of a curtain. I have pictures. 5. The toilet seats were broken, the flush was not working. 6. The bar tender sold us early bird pricing for a cocktail (passionfruit gin). When we went to the bar to redeem our drink, we got a rum coke. I asked him why he sold us a different drink and he just shrugged. 7. Our bedsheets and pillows had little red stains on them, which looked like bed bug stains. 8. Our pillow was not changed and we literally had the previous guests goo on them. I am tired of typing but there were just too many things wrong at this hostel. (I was one of their first customers when they opened in 2014 or so. I used to love this place. But man, they have gone downhill)

Il rooftop di Community Hostel e l'evento principale: un bar e ristorante in alto con grandi viste sul Centro Storico, energia da colazione/brunch, IPA artigianali, pasti sostanziosi e serate social regolari. Salsa, karaoke, giochi, happy hour, cene in famiglia e walking tour danno al posto un vero motore per conoscere gente senza farlo sembrare un ostello-chain gigante. Il setup dei dorm puo essere seriamente comodo, con letti a pod, tende, mensole, locker, spazio per caricare, piumoni cozy e abbastanza privacy per sparire quando la batteria sociale arriva a zero. Camere e bagni sono generalmente puliti, e gli spazi condivisi vanno oltre il minimo: cucina, lounge, cinema o sala TV, angoli tipo coworking e una terrazza che funziona sia per guardare la citta sia per pianificare la cena. Il cibo conta piu che in un ostello tipico. Il ristorante sul rooftop riceve molto amore per colazioni, community dinner, porzioni grandi, piatti locali, guacamole toast, shakshuka e pasti convenienti, anche se prezzi e servizio possono variare. L'energia dello staff e di solito calda e presente, con nomi come Fanny, Israel, Emi, Eli, Gaby, Diego, Luis e Rasu legati a pulizia, hosting, tour, salsa e problem-solving generale. La posizione e centrale e pratica per la old town di Quito, la piazza principale, i trasporti pubblici e il Mercado Central proprio fuori. Lo stesso setting accanto al mercato porta il tradeoff: rumore di strada fin dal mattino, area che puo sembrare ruvida dopo il buio, e taxi o Uber sono la mossa piu intelligente di notte.
Segnali da controllare
- La zona intorno puo sembrare poco sicura, soprattutto dopo il buio; usare taxi o Uber di notte e la mossa piu sicura.
- Eventi sul rooftop, karaoke, balli, musica del bar, rumore di porte, cani, traffico e mercato possono rendere difficile dormire, soprattutto nelle camere sulla strada e vicino alla terrazza.
- Di solito ci si aspetta che la musica finisca verso le 23, ma puo andare avanti piu tardi nelle serate piene o nei weekend.
- Reception/check-in possono richiedere scale, e portare i bagagli su all'altitudine di Quito puo essere pesante.
- L'acqua calda puo essere incostante in alcuni bagni, e alcuni pavimenti delle docce possono essere scivolosi.
- La cucina condivisa puo sembrare affollata, con spazio frigo limitato per la dimensione dell'ostello.
- Prezzi, tempi di attesa e servizio del ristorante possono essere irregolari, soprattutto durante periodi rooftop pieni o date speciali.
- Alcune camere private possono essere fredde, basiche, rumorose o influenzate da finestre sulla strada.
- Ci sono stati problemi isolati con prenotazioni, costi o depositi asciugamani, tempi lavanderia e privacy delle camere, quindi confermare i dettagli per iscritto e sensato.
