upon arrival you have to call to enter. us travellers cant do this. Lucky a stranger walking by helped. the owners were very passive aggressive. As soon as i looked at my bed i saw blood spots/stains. I reported this at 11pm the lady came in within 5mins. This confrontation isnt nessacary esp after travelling all day. Could have waited for the morning. Quickly defensive said its rust stains. Really? I know blood stains when i see it. Either mosquito or bed bugs. Straight away insisted i was wrong. Told me i could change beds. Offered refund but i said its ok. Couldnt sleep that night so the next night tried to talk to the husband. He was worse said it was rust also. Said if i wanted a refund he'd give it to me and i can leave. pretty much kicking me out at 9pm. No other hostels in the town. This whole situation was out of control. just form talking bc i still had 2 more nights. So i decided to check under the mattress.. i saw bed bug eggs & droppings from the original bed. I didnt sleep at all for the next 32hrs. I got out of there when i could and just avoided the owners. Other travellers came in at midnight havin problems checkin also. Lucky we were in the kitchen to help them out.

Hostel was nice, really big and new, would’ve been great if it was full. Unfortunately I was one of maybe 3 guests but it’s not the peak season anymore. It was really quite cold at night and there may have been bedbugs

Hostel Citadella è un ostello di Deva molto pulito e moderno, con una sensazione quasi da hotel: dormitori spaziosi, letti comodi, tende per la privacy, luci da letto, prese, mensole e grandi armadietti. Il setup è pratico più che caotico, con una cucina enorme, un grande salotto, caffè o tè gratuiti e un'organizzazione chiara degli spazi condivisi. La terrazza e il cortile possono offrire viste verso la fortezza di Deva, e la posizione funziona bene per il sentiero della cittadella, la zona della funivia, la stazione ferroviaria, gli autobus, i negozi vicini e le gite verso Hunedoara o il Castello di Corvino. È meglio come base pulita e facile che come scena backpacker rumorosa. L'atmosfera può essere tranquilla, a volte quasi vuota, quindi non è la scelta più ovvia per energia da party. Quando la sala social, la cucina, la terrazza, i giochi e i posti all'aperto sono in uso, l'ostello ha spazio per connettersi, ma il feeling di default tende al calmo, curato e ordinato.
Segnali da controllare
- La reception potrebbe non essere presidiata all'arrivo, quindi il check-in può richiedere una telefonata o accesso a WhatsApp.
- L'ostello può essere molto tranquillo e non è una scelta forte per fare party o conoscere tutti.
- Il riscaldamento invernale è stato un problema a volte, soprattutto negli spazi comuni e nei bagni.
- Le luci dei bagni con sensore di movimento possono spegnersi troppo in fretta.
- Il pagamento solo in contanti è stato richiesto almeno in alcuni periodi.
- C'è stata una lamentela seria su biancheria macchiata e possibili cimici da letto, quindi controlla il letto all'arrivo.
- I bagni condivisi sono comuni, e l'assegnazione delle camere potrebbe non corrispondere sempre esattamente alle aspettative.
- Non c'è ascensore.
