This hostel is the central part of Caernarfon, so it is close to the castle, to all the restaurants, to Menai Strait, etc. Su is a great host and when I found bed bugs, she took a really great care of me - she picked me up in the middle of the night and took me to her other location in Bangor, she washed all of my clothes and steamed all of my other stuff. Shared kitchen was quite filthy. I couldn't find any clean dishes. They were washed, but there was some weird film on them. Also there wasn't much space to wash it properly, so that was probably the reason. Also tables weren't clean and the floor was sticky. Rooms looked quite clean, but at the same time it felt unclean. But than I unfortunately found bed bugs in my bed. So that was probably that unclen feeling.

My colleagues and I booked to spend a night on the 26th August 2023. We were a group of 12. 7 of us shared a room of 8 and were bitten by bedbugs. It was a terrible experience. None of us have ever seen a bedbug before. We called the owner at around 4am when we realised we were all experiencing something biting and we were itchy. They were on our bedsheets, clothes and ceiling. I feel traumatised and itchy all over thinking about it.

Location Bed bugs infestation, poor hygiene the bed rooms,duvet cover and pillows smells terrible the toilets and shower are not clean. The whole place needs cleaning and updating.

Staying inside castle walls was special. Good to have breakfast provided. A bit grubby. Some beds had bed bugs.

Cheaper than other options in the area. Location. Pretty sure this place had BEDBUGS - didn't notice when staying but since being home I'm COVERED in red itchy bites - bed bug bites can takes days up to 2 weeks before showing. Im almost certain I got bit during my stay here and only now are the bites showing up. Not only this but it wasn't that clean, ran out of toilet roll often, blocked sinks, the shower on my floor smelt vile so I had to use one on a different floor. Breakfast was basic cereal and toast self service. No plug sockets in or near beds so habe tk charge the other end of the room and either be awake whilst it charges or risk it being stolen.

De kelderbar is de standout: een cozy lokale hangout met livemuziek, open mic nights, cocktails, goed verzorgde bieren en Thai food van Su's cafe. Het geeft Ty Glyndwr meer community pulse dan een plain bunkhouse. De locatie is dead central in Caernarfon, binnen de oude stadsmuren en dicht bij het kasteel, waterfront, bushaltes, pubs, restaurants, supermarkten, Iceland en Asda. Het kan werken als praktische basis voor Snowdonia per bus, wandeldagen en zonder veel planning door de stad dwalen. Su en het team geven de plek een warm, persoonlijk gevoel, met een behulpzame, welcoming stijl die bij de small-house setup past. Kamers zijn over het algemeen schoon en simpel, met comfortabele bedden; nieuwere dormsetup kan individuele lampjes en laadpunten hebben. Ontbijt is meestal continentaal en kan royaal genoeg zijn voor een wandeldag. De familiekamer kan een sterke pick zijn, met een ruime loftindeling, een aparte zithoek en nuttige extra's zoals een koelkast, thee, koffie of een kleine ensuite afhankelijk van de kamer.

- Geluid kan een issue zijn, vooral van de keldermuziek, zaterdagavondverkeer in de stad, deuren en late aankomsten.
- Dorms en zolderkamers kunnen heet, krap of slecht geventileerd voelen.
- Badkamers en douches zijn basic; drukknopdouches hebben mogelijk geen temperatuurcontrole, en waterdruk kan zwak zijn op hogere verdiepingen.
- Er is geen echte self-catering keuken of publieke koelkastsetup, en parkeren is niet toegewezen.
- Sloten, grendels, lockers, bagageopslag en kamerveiligheid kunnen wisselend zijn.
