My colleagues and I booked to spend a night on the 26th August 2023. We were a group of 12. 7 of us shared a room of 8 and were bitten by bedbugs. It was a terrible experience. None of us have ever seen a bedbug before. We called the owner at around 4am when we realised we were all experiencing something biting and we were itchy. They were on our bedsheets, clothes and ceiling. I feel traumatised and itchy all over thinking about it.

Pretty sure this place had BEDBUGS - didn't notice when staying but since being home I'm COVERED in red itchy bites - bed bug bites can takes days up to 2 weeks before showing. Im almost certain I got bit during my stay here and only now are the bites showing up. Not only this but it wasn't that clean, ran out of toilet roll often, blocked sinks, the shower on my floor smelt vile so I had to use one on a different floor. Breakfast was basic cereal and toast self service. No plug sockets in or near beds so habe tk charge the other end of the room and either be awake whilst it charges or risk it being stolen.

Vibe Analysis

The basement bar is the standout: a cozy local hangout with live music, open mic nights, cocktails, well-kept beers, and Thai food from Su's cafe. It gives Ty Glyndwr more community pulse than a plain bunkhouse. The location is dead central in Caernarfon, inside the old town walls and close to the castle, waterfront, bus stops, pubs, restaurants, grocery stores, Iceland, and Asda. It can work as a practical base for Snowdonia by bus, hiking days, and wandering around town without much planning. Su and the team give the place a warm, personal feel, with a helpful, welcoming style that fits the small-house setup. Rooms are generally clean and simple, with comfortable beds; newer dorm setup can include individual lights and charging points. Breakfast is usually continental and can be generous enough before a walking day. The family room can be a strong pick, with a spacious loft layout, a separate sitting area, and useful extras like a fridge, tea, coffee, or a small ensuite depending on the room.
