Welcoming smiles, inexpensive drinks, a solid kitchen, and decent wifi can only go so far. The bunks are firm, the pillows worn out, storage underneath is poor, and you pay extra for everything — even to hold a package. Their hiker box and loaner clothes are in disarray. My first stay was great. The second, however, was a nightmare: bedbugs, more than 40 bites, and an allergic reaction that made the trail feel like a constant itch. To their credit, the owners handled it professionally and made amends. Still, if you stay here, keep your pack far from the bunks and check every corner before settling in.

Book at this Hostel! I urge the community to AVOID ; 3 PEAKS HOTEL! It is a disaster! 3 PEAKS HOTEL Has NO HOT WATER! 3 PEAKS HOTEL has cockroaches and bed bugs. Steer clear! Book anywhere except the 3 Peaks Hotel! Your vacation will be destroyed by their lack of compassion and care! The female manager at the front desk is abusing the guests and not being professional or finding solutions to their property’s issues! They will blame you and not care for you and your family if you stay at their Roach Motel! Warn/Tell everyone spread the word please do not give 3 Peaks any of your Money!

Dirty room & evidence of bed bugs. The linoleum peels up in the bathroom causing a tripping hazard. The carpet is not just stained but soiled and filthy. The AC is so loud I couldn't sleep with it on. The TV remote didn't work. There was a broken closet door left outside my room and no screens on the windows. Extremely overpriced based on the poor quality of the room.

Always an excellent place to stay in South Lake Tahoe (just a few blocks from both Heavenly and the lake)! Super friendly staff, kitchen is large and well-equipped, and the dorm beds each have their own reading light (!). Most importantly, it's clean and well-kept (no worries about bedbugs)!

This is the place to stay if you are looking for cheap and reliable accomodation for some activity at South Tahoe. I prefer to sleep over here for as low as $30/night to snowboard the next day. The rooms are not fancy or high quality but they are clean and adequate for sleeping. Showers included. No bed bugs! Its also a good way to meet people. The staff is really friendly.

Mellow Mountain Hostel is een goedkope, centrale basis in South Lake Tahoe. Het ligt dicht bij de hoofdstraat, Heavenly Village, casino's, restaurants, bars, brouwerijen, het meer en de toegang tot het strand, dus lopen is de belangrijkste winst hier. Er zijn mogelijk kortingsbonnen voor strand, waardoor de locatie nuttiger wordt als het meertijdtijd is dan kamertijd. Sommige kamers hebben praktische basisvoorzieningen zoals een mini-koelkast, magnetron, koffiezetapparaat, tv, spa-bad of gratis parkeergelegenheid, en het personeel kan op individuele momenten vriendelijk of behulpzaam zijn. De afweging is duidelijk: het pand kan oud, ruw en slecht onderhouden lijken. Kamers kunnen vieze vloeren, gevlekte tapijten of lakens, haar in badkamers, rook of schimmige geuren, kapotte tv's of afstandsbedieningen, slechte verwarming of airconditioning, lekke douches, versleten matrassen, gaten in muren of vloeren en schimmel in badkamers hebben. Ook gemeenschappelijke ruimtes en keukens kunnen vettig zijn, onvoldoende voorzien of ongemakkelijk. Dit is niet de zachte Tahoe fantasie versie. Het is een locatie-eerste, budget-eerste optie met een echt chaos risico: dunne muren, luide nachten, beperkte toegang tot de receptie, drukke parkeergarage, verrassingskosten, en de kwaliteit van de kamer die hard kan schommelen.
Signalen om te checken
- Schoonheid is een ernstig terugkerend risico, vooral vloeren, badkamers, beddengoed, tapijten en keukens.
- Onderhoudsproblemen kunnen zijn: kapotte tv's, afstandsbedieningen, stopcontacten, verwarming, airconditioning, sanitaire installaties, deuren, ramen, armaturen en versleten matrassen.
- Geluid uit nabijgelegen kamers, stappen boven, luidruchtige feesten, dunne muren en straatbewegingen kan een probleem zijn.
- De toegang tot de receptie is misschien beperkt, vooral later op de dag, en de service kan onregelmatig lijken.
- Er kan druk op de parkeerplaats staan en er kunnen extra kosten in rekening worden gebracht voor huisdieren, deposito's, pakketbewaarplaatsen of overnachtingsparkeerplaatsen in de buurt.
- Sommige kamers komen misschien niet overeen met de foto's of lijken veel ouder dan verwacht.
