First the good parts: common areas were nice (sofas, billiardtable etc.), the kitchen was big, many facilities, also this older woman employee was super nice to us Then the downfall: when we arrived there, the staff didn’t tell us anything about the hostel (where is the kitchen or the bathrooms etc) or the area around, our hostel room was dirty, the floor and the fan were in dust, our lockers were also dirty and still had other people’s stuff, we also found bedbug or cockroach marks from my friend’s locker, one day they shut all the toilets at the same time for like an hour to clean them, usually the kitchen was also dirty: people didn’t clean their pots or pans (they were left dirty in the evening and were found at the same spot dirty in the morning) staff just ignored that usually, also they didn’t tell us anything about the yha app, would recommend just for a one night if even that

My room was dirty when I arrived. Floor was dusty and my locker had bedbug or cockroach marks. Someone had also left their things to my locker. Common areas were clean and large. Kitchen was sometimes dirty because other people didn't wash their dishes. One day staff was cleaning bathrooms for one hour so I couldn't go to any bathroom. It was nice to be near to the beach and it was easy to take a bus to the center. It's okay if you stay only for one night.

Vibe-Analyse
YHA Coolangatta funktioniert am besten als Airport-naher Crashpad mit etwas Hostel-Leben dran. Der Gold Coast Airport ist etwa 10 Minuten zu Fuss entfernt, der Strand ist nah, und Busse bringen dich Richtung Stadt, auch wenn zentrales Coolangatta nicht direkt vor der Tuer liegt. Das Hostel hat eine grosse Gemeinschaftskueche, grosse Shared Areas, einen kleinen Pool, Locker und ein laid-back soziales Setup mit Friday BBQs und Movie Nights. Staff kann warm und hilfreich sein, Heather und Sarah stechen namentlich hervor. Der Tradeoff ist Komfort. Zimmer sind basic, Schall traegt stark von Highway, Flughafen, Tueren und Fluren, und es gibt keine Klimaanlage. Matratzen, Hitze, Licht, begrenzte Bett-Privatsphaere, umstaendlicher Stromzugang und patchy Sauberkeit koennen Schlaf rau machen. Dieser Ort ergibt am meisten Sinn fuer einen kurzen Stop vor oder nach einem Flug, nicht fuer eine polierte Beach-Base.
Signale zum Prüfen
- Flughafen- und Highway-Laerm koennen laut sein, besonders fuer leichte Schlaefer.
- Keine Klimaanlage, und Zimmer koennen sehr heiss werden.
- Betten und Matratzen koennen sehr basic oder abgenutzt wirken.
- Sauberkeit ist inkonsistent in Zimmern, Baedern, Lockern und Kueche.
- Die Lage ist praktisch fuer Fluege und Strand, aber ohne Bus oder Auto nicht ideal fuer zentrales Coolangatta oder Grocery Runs.
- Dorm-Atmosphaere kann ungleichmaessig wirken, besonders rund um Langzeitbewohner.
