First the good parts: common areas were nice (sofas, billiardtable etc.), the kitchen was big, many facilities, also this older woman employee was super nice to us Then the downfall: when we arrived there, the staff didn’t tell us anything about the hostel (where is the kitchen or the bathrooms etc) or the area around, our hostel room was dirty, the floor and the fan were in dust, our lockers were also dirty and still had other people’s stuff, we also found bedbug or cockroach marks from my friend’s locker, one day they shut all the toilets at the same time for like an hour to clean them, usually the kitchen was also dirty: people didn’t clean their pots or pans (they were left dirty in the evening and were found at the same spot dirty in the morning) staff just ignored that usually, also they didn’t tell us anything about the yha app, would recommend just for a one night if even that

My room was dirty when I arrived. Floor was dusty and my locker had bedbug or cockroach marks. Someone had also left their things to my locker. Common areas were clean and large. Kitchen was sometimes dirty because other people didn't wash their dishes. One day staff was cleaning bathrooms for one hour so I couldn't go to any bathroom. It was nice to be near to the beach and it was easy to take a bus to the center. It's okay if you stay only for one night.

YHA Coolangatta funciona mejor como crash pad junto al aeropuerto con un poco de vida hostelera pegada. El Gold Coast Airport está a unos 10 minutos caminando, la playa queda cerca y los buses pueden llevarte hacia el pueblo, aunque el centro de Coolangatta no está exactamente en la puerta. El hostel tiene una cocina común grande, zonas compartidas amplias, una piscina pequeña, lockers y un setup social relajado con BBQs de viernes y noches de cine. El staff puede ser cálido y servicial, con Heather y Sarah destacando por nombre. El tradeoff es la comodidad. Las habitaciones son básicas, el sonido llega fuerte desde la carretera, aeropuerto, puertas y pasillos, y no hay aire acondicionado. Colchones, calor, luz, poca privacidad de cama, acceso incómodo a enchufes y limpieza irregular pueden hacer que dormir sea áspero. Este lugar tiene más sentido para una parada corta antes o después de un vuelo, no como base playera pulida.

- El ruido del aeropuerto y la carretera puede ser fuerte, especialmente para quienes duermen ligero.
- No hay aire acondicionado, y las habitaciones pueden ponerse muy calientes.
- Las camas y colchones pueden sentirse muy básicos o gastados.
- La limpieza es inconsistente en habitaciones, baños, lockers y cocina.
- La ubicación es conveniente para vuelos y playa, pero no ideal para el centro de Coolangatta o compras de supermercado sin bus o auto.
- La atmósfera de dorm puede sentirse dispareja, especialmente por ocupantes de larga estadía.
