Got bit by bed bugs here, checked out early and didn’t get a refund. It’s an amazing location, but doesn’t have a kitchen for food. Lots of partying and very social. Better than other hostels in the area just way overpriced

To be honest, I was highly disappointed with my stay. The experience seemed like it was meant for a certain group of people and the spaces were not inclusive. The staff was not welcoming, the formality of the hostel was frustrating, and it was overall not worth the money. The room feels painted over, facilities are not the best, and I found what appeared to be a bed bug in the room with photos. For the price point of this hostel I expected a drastic difference.

Was moved twice due to bed bug concerns. One guest (woman) was attacked by another guest (man) and they allowed him to stay in the hostel another night instead of kick him out. Bring good headphones and eye mask because parties go here until 4am with people coming in and out at all times

The rooms were very small with no room to lay out your stuff and allow people to pass. The storage area was super stiff to shut and quite small. But worst of all the insects in the room. I don’t mind seeing the odd ant around the hostel but up stairs in the room with multiple cockroaches and as well a couple of my roommates having bed bugs is just insane. Also the bathrooms were super small with mold

Very social and easy to meet people. Some of the staff are nice and others seem like you are bothering them to do their job.. there was one girl who was extremely rude while checking the beds in the room. The rooms are not clean, white stuff coming out from the floor which made our shoes sticky. There was a guest who had bedbugs in another room and she was simply moved to our room. I complained about this and the cleaning ladies came in the next day and sprayed something extremely strong which gave me a headaches when trying to sleep. The place is managed by what seem to be 18-20 year olds so do not expect the best service.

This place seems like a great time and has great events. However keep in mind they have bed bugs. Looked through around 10 pairs of sheets and they all had black dots on them and few with blood stains. Staff was willing to provide a refund and was very kind about it but they didn’t seem suprised by their infestation.

More Ipanema passt am besten, wenn Rio selbst der Plan ist: Lage in Ipanema, Strand/U-Bahn/Restaurants in der Nähe und ein Programm, das dich in die Stadt schiebt. Das Social-Signal ist klar: tägliche Aktivitäten, Wanderungen, Stadion- oder Fußballausflüge, Partys, Drinks am Strand und genug Solo-Reisende, damit Kontakte leicht entstehen, wenn die Gruppe funktioniert. Am besten passt es für Solo-Reisende oder sehr soziale Party-Traveller, die Pläne wichtiger finden als Feinschliff. Maya und Victoria bekommen konkret viel Liebe, und die Bar/Party-Fläche unten kann ein guter Startpunkt sein. Tagsüber kann es entspannter wirken; nachts kippt es eher in Party-Modus. Der Tradeoff sind die Einrichtungen. Zimmer können klein, basic und feucht sein; Bäder sind ein wiederkehrender Schwachpunkt; Küche/Kühlschrank für Gäste sind schwach; und der Gegenwert kann sich für den Preis schief anfühlen, besonders wenn die Raten steigen. Sieh es als Social- und Lage-Play, nicht als Komfort-first-Aufenthalt. Wenn du Ruhe, gründliche Sauberkeit, geräumige Dorms oder einen arbeitsfreundlichen Common Space brauchst, kann dieses Hostel deine Geduld testen.
Signale zum Prüfen
- Sauberkeit ist das wichtigste praktische Risiko: Zimmer und Bäder können feucht riechen, schmutzig wirken und Schimmel oder Ungeziefer haben.
- Dorms und Bäder können eng sein; manche Zimmer haben ein Bad für viele Betten, und obere Zimmer können nach dem Aufzug noch Treppen bedeuten.
- Es gibt keine echte Gäste-Küche/Kühlschrank-Lösung, also plane Essenskosten und Aufbewahrung entsprechend.
- Der Service kann von herzlich zu ruppig oder unorganisiert schwanken, besonders bei Aufsicht, Guides und Problemlösung.
- Das ist keine ruhige Basis: Partys, Bar-Lärm, laute Flure und wenig Chill-Arbeitsraum können nachts bis nach oben ziehen.
- Nutze Schließfächer/Vorhängeschlösser für Wertsachen; lose Aufbewahrung im Zimmer sollte nicht als sicher gelten.
