Got bit by bed bugs here, checked out early and didn’t get a refund. It’s an amazing location, but doesn’t have a kitchen for food. Lots of partying and very social. Better than other hostels in the area just way overpriced

To be honest, I was highly disappointed with my stay. The experience seemed like it was meant for a certain group of people and the spaces were not inclusive. The staff was not welcoming, the formality of the hostel was frustrating, and it was overall not worth the money. The room feels painted over, facilities are not the best, and I found what appeared to be a bed bug in the room with photos. For the price point of this hostel I expected a drastic difference.

Was moved twice due to bed bug concerns. One guest (woman) was attacked by another guest (man) and they allowed him to stay in the hostel another night instead of kick him out. Bring good headphones and eye mask because parties go here until 4am with people coming in and out at all times

The rooms were very small with no room to lay out your stuff and allow people to pass. The storage area was super stiff to shut and quite small. But worst of all the insects in the room. I don’t mind seeing the odd ant around the hostel but up stairs in the room with multiple cockroaches and as well a couple of my roommates having bed bugs is just insane. Also the bathrooms were super small with mold

Very social and easy to meet people. Some of the staff are nice and others seem like you are bothering them to do their job.. there was one girl who was extremely rude while checking the beds in the room. The rooms are not clean, white stuff coming out from the floor which made our shoes sticky. There was a guest who had bedbugs in another room and she was simply moved to our room. I complained about this and the cleaning ladies came in the next day and sprayed something extremely strong which gave me a headaches when trying to sleep. The place is managed by what seem to be 18-20 year olds so do not expect the best service.

This place seems like a great time and has great events. However keep in mind they have bed bugs. Looked through around 10 pairs of sheets and they all had black dots on them and few with blood stains. Staff was willing to provide a refund and was very kind about it but they didn’t seem suprised by their infestation.

More Ipanema tiene más sentido cuando Río es el plan: ubicación en Ipanema, playa/metro/restaurantes cerca y una agenda que te empuja a salir por la ciudad. La señal social es real: actividades diarias, caminatas, salidas a estadios o fútbol, fiestas, tragos en la playa y suficientes viajeros solos como para que hacer amigos sea fácil cuando el grupo prende. Encaja mejor con viajeros solos o gente social-fiesta que quiere planes antes que lujo. Maya y Victoria reciben cariño concreto, y el bar/fiesta de abajo puede funcionar como punto de arranque. De día puede sentirse más relajado; de noche puede ponerse bastante party. La concesión está en las instalaciones. Las habitaciones pueden ser pequeñas, básicas y húmedas; los baños son un punto débil repetido; la cocina/heladera flojea; y el valor puede sentirse desajustado para el precio, sobre todo cuando suben las tarifas. Tómalo como una jugada de socializar y ubicación, no como una estancia centrada en comodidad. Si necesitas silencio, limpieza profunda, dormitorios amplios o un área común cómoda para trabajar, este lugar puede ponerte a prueba.
Señales a revisar
- La limpieza es el principal riesgo práctico: habitaciones y baños pueden oler a humedad, sentirse sucios y tener moho o plagas.
- La distribución de dormitorios y baños puede sentirse apretada; algunas habitaciones tienen un solo baño para muchas camas, y en pisos altos puede tocar subir escaleras después del ascensor.
- No hay una cocina/heladera real para huéspedes, así que conviene planear costos de comida y guardado con eso en mente.
- La atención puede pasar de encantadora a brusca o desorganizada, especialmente con supervisión, guías y resolución de problemas.
- No es una base silenciosa: fiestas, ruido del bar, pasillos movidos y poco espacio tranquilo pueden subir contigo de noche.
- Usa lockers/candados para objetos de valor; no conviene tratar el guardado suelto en la habitación como seguro.
