The hotel and room were clean and everything in order. However, when I woke up, my body was covered in bedbugs bites—from my legs to my face. I slept in the bottom bunk of a bunk bed.

Place is disgusting, dirty rooms, they simply DO NOT change the bed clothes from one to other guests!!! The 1st room was full of hair in the beds and they changed me instead of cleaning, so, I got to other room even worse, as there are many small hairs or "pentelhos" in all the beds surfaces and they are really really dirty with yellow marks of unwashed. In one of the beds, they have the audacity to put the linen on the other side, so they can keep using instead of washing. We have itchy skin because the bed has bedbugs and fleas, of course, because the bed linen is not clean and the bed also. THE HEATING in the room does not work, so it is COLD !!!!.. The location is very dangerous neigborhood, not convenient even to cross and to walk short distance. Also, the employees at night are rude and stupid, may wish to find another job.

MEININGER Marseille Centre la Joliette ist eher Hotel-Hostel-Hybrid als Backpacker-Szene: grosse Lobby, Gemeinschaftskueche, gruppenfreundliches Setup, Fruehstueck, Parken und einfache Zimmer nahe La Joliette, Metrozugang und Saint-Charles zu Fuss oder per Transit. Es kann fuer Familien, Schulgruppen und Reisende funktionieren, die praktische Marseille-Logistik ohne Boutique-Preisschild wollen. Der staerkste Pluspunkt ist funktionale Infrastruktur. In den besseren Zimmern kann das Setup sauber und modern sein, mit privaten Baedern, Klimaanlage, nuetzlicher Kueche, grossem Ess-/Loungebereich, Waesche und Personal, das in mehreren Sprachen hilft. Es ist nicht der Ort fuer eine tiefe lokale Social-Szene, kann aber ein einfacher Staging-Bereich sein, wenn die Basics stimmen. Die Tradeoffs sind laut und wiederholt. Duenne Waende, Schulgruppen, Flurlaerm, bezahlte Gepaeckaufbewahrung, ungleichmaessiges Fruehstueck, unbequemes Bettzeug und Reibung mit Personal kommen oft vor. Die Gegend ist nuetzlich, aber einige Reisende fuehlten sich dort nachts unwohl, besonders alleinreisende Frauen.
