The hotel and room were clean and everything in order. However, when I woke up, my body was covered in bedbugs bites—from my legs to my face. I slept in the bottom bunk of a bunk bed.

Place is disgusting, dirty rooms, they simply DO NOT change the bed clothes from one to other guests!!! The 1st room was full of hair in the beds and they changed me instead of cleaning, so, I got to other room even worse, as there are many small hairs or "pentelhos" in all the beds surfaces and they are really really dirty with yellow marks of unwashed. In one of the beds, they have the audacity to put the linen on the other side, so they can keep using instead of washing. We have itchy skin because the bed has bedbugs and fleas, of course, because the bed linen is not clean and the bed also. THE HEATING in the room does not work, so it is COLD !!!!.. The location is very dangerous neigborhood, not convenient even to cross and to walk short distance. Also, the employees at night are rude and stupid, may wish to find another job.

MEININGER Marseille Centre la Joliette is meer hotel-hostelhybride dan backpackerscene: grote lobby, gedeelde keuken, groepsvriendelijke setup, ontbijt, parking en simpele kamers bij La Joliette, metrotoegang en Saint-Charles te voet of met transit. Het kan werken voor families, schoolgroepen en reizigers die praktische Marseille-logistiek willen zonder boutique-prijskaartje. De sterkste upside is functionele infrastructuur. In de betere kamers kan de setup schoon en modern zijn, met privebadkamers, airco, een nuttige keuken, een grote eet/loungezone, wasruimte en personeel dat in meerdere talen helpt. Het is niet de plek voor een diepe lokale sociale scene, maar het kan een makkelijke staging area zijn als de basics kloppen. De tradeoffs zijn luid en herhaald. Dunne muren, schoolgroepen, ganggeluid, betaalde bagageopslag, wisselend ontbijt, oncomfortabel beddengoed en frictie met personeel komen vaak terug. De buurt is nuttig, maar sommige reizigers voelden zich er 's nachts ongemakkelijk, vooral vrouwen die alleen reizen.
